This place sucks. Be warned…read more You probably will be on a long drive to get here. When you arrive you will learn that there is no front desk at the Redbud Lodge. You have to drive two miles down the road to check in at the Cedar Lodge, then drive back the two miles to the Red Bud. That's exactly what you want to do when you get off a long road trip is to have to check in at another hotel to drive back to your hotel. I have never seen this before and I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in my lifetime. Then you get to your room and they don't have the decency of leaving the AC on. They turn it off entirely. So we arrived and the room was literally 90 degrees. The little ac unit by the door is pathetic and never came close to cooling the room down. The ceiling fan did not work either. It's just a dry sauna of a room. The bed is reasonably comfortable. The bathroom is ancient and has not seen a remodel since probably the Reagan Administration. This hotel sucks. Don't stay here. This place should be about $50 a night.

I knew this place did not have an office so we had to be sure to plan ahead and get extra toilet paper from the main office down the road. Inconvenient but not a deal breaker. Parking was an issue one night when apparently every room must have been full? Literally no parking, except ON the highway. We ended up squeezing in a grassy area near the house next door (which likely wasn't really meant for parking) but others not so lucky and had to park on side of the highway. Not good in an area that is pitch black at night, lucky they didn't get hit by someone coming around the corner too fast. Someone else said no WiFi but it was fine for us. Overall it was fine and convenient to the park but not sure I'd stay again. I think I'll try the June Bug lodge next time, their restaurant was great!

Kitchen is extremely well stocked for preparing meals, very comfortable beds (I have severe spine issues - 13 herniated discs and beds are super comfortable and supportive) and furniture, all wall switches are labeled, directions from the owners are extensive and thorough, terrific welcome notebook with lots of useful info and visitor usable hiking trail info (multiple copies so you can take one with you), snowshoes, excellent kitchen gear. The property is simply 'turn-key' if someone was wanting to rent it for several months - nothing is absent. Communication was ongoing for the duration of my stay, making sure that everything was what I needed. I am hoping to rent this home again next year, same time of year, and likely reason to visit Yosemite annually for years to come. Every word in owner's description is genuine. Awesome rental!

They said wifi can be sporadic but we never had any issue during our 4 nights stay. And since other hotels and venues posted the same kind of warning it must be a location thing. This was the first time my family and I come to Yosemite and stay at a vacation rental, and I never felt any concerns because they were so good. Staying inside the park at one of the lodges or tent cabins is fun for the regular occasion but we wanted something a little more private. The hilltop cabin was perfect. Foresta is one of only three enclaves of privately owned property within the park. We were in Sage, which is tucked further back from Lupine on the property. Really though, as the area was cleared out by a fire years ago - both cabins are secluded and quiet. I will note that the last part of the road to the cabin is rough. We were in a rental and joked about how we were not supposed to go 4 wheeling in it. Our anniversary is in July, so it's usually blazing hot if we stay in CA. This year was no exception and it was highs of 97-101 when we were here. The swamp cooler kept the cabin cool. We just planned our hikes early in the morning, relaxed in the cabin during the heat of the day, and pulled the patio chairs out from under the patio and watched the stars at night. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We did a puzzle on the table and cooked a couple of meals. The bed was very comfortable. We used the patio grill too. We brought a couple of DVDs and even watched one of the resident movies. The hike to the creek is nice. You will see a little metal sign at the side trail that goes down to it. We were able to eat lunch on a granite slab overlooking one of the smaller waterfalls. There were a couple of shallow swimming pools too. We saw lots of deer and no snakes. We made the longer hike down to Foresta Falls and marveled at how strong it was going for July. We made our way over the old bridge and followed the trail to the overlook of El Portal and the valley. If it's really hot, it's just a short drive up to Tenaya Lake. Tuolumne Meadows is 20 degrees cooler than the valley in the summer. We were planning on camping there the last 2 nights of our trip, so we stayed at the cabin or ventured into the valley. The cabin was such a wonderful escape from the masses in the valley. Steve was very prompt and friendly, with all correspondence. Thank you for sharing your little slice of paradise with others.

We usually enjoy camping, but this time we decided to try Curry Village, and it did not disappoint. The cabins were cozy, and the village had everything we needed, including stores and places to eat. The pizza place deserves a special mention--the pizza was absolutely amazing! Near Curry Village, we also found what appeared to be an old recreation area. It felt very authentic and full of history, almost like stepping into Yosemite's past. We enjoyed walking around in the evening, relaxing after our hikes, and then waking up to a beautiful sunrise the next morning. The accommodations may be simple and without many modern comforts, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. That feeling of being surrounded by nature adds 100 points to Curry Village! It is truly one of the most memorable places our family has ever stayed.

Oh, we also played chess by the fireplace on their fancy wooden chess set. Fantastic. Breakfast was easy, delicious, and the other guests were friendly. The person who checked us in was friendly, non-obtrusive, and was always available if we needed him, but otherwise no where to be seen. That's magic :) He gave us a great tour of the home, pointing out all things relevant, and had some pretty cool stories. It's a bit of a drive to Yosemite, and also in the middle of nowhere. I felt like I was luxury camping in the wilderness. I would definitely like to come back.

A few things, this place can accommodate 4 adults but it is not a two bedroom place as advertised. There is one room upstairs that has two twin beds and one queen bed. Has one bathroom downstairs. The cabin is a bit outdated but I'm not sure what else you expect for a cabin in Fish Camp. It had the essentials though. It had a kitchen, with a lot of pots and pans and utensils, some spices, refrigerator, tv with DVD player and Cable (dish). They had a bbq grill but we couldn't figure out if it was charcoal or gas and we didn't have propane or charcoal so we didn't use it. The beds were not that comfortable and the sheets and pillows seemed old. Actually everything seemed a bit old in the place. John was very gracious throughout the whole reservation process and called us while we were there to make sure everything was ok. Overall, we had a lovely time but for how much we paid, we were expecting a little better. The other thing is this is one of the only dog friendly places around Yosemite which made it our go to place.

The restaurants were close by and Oakhurst was just a short drive down the mountain. The creek water level was very low due to the lack of snow melt but we still managed to catch 1 good size trout. Staying on the south end of the park was a new experience for us and it was just wonderful. John is very knowledgeable on the area inside Yosemite Park as well as restaurants to get a great meal. The locals were all friendly and had loads of information. It was very pleasant to talk to them in the mornings. We are definitely coming back next year for our 5th Annual Motorcycle Road Trip. If I could give this place 50 stars I would. I read in an awesome book called the Go Giver, that good businesses give an equal amount of value for the money, great businesses give more value than the money paid, but truly exceptional businesses provide better services and value than ANY amount of money can buy, and while you might be able to stay at a fancier hotel, you will NOT find better service, attention to your needs, and overall value in quality services rendered than here at the Gold Country Lodge, with Ken running things. I also just figured out that they have a clean bubbly hot tub here! I didn't even notice that last time! Not only were the rooms still clean and comfortable, the showers had great pressure, the coffee was fresh ground Starbucks, the AC worked great, the view was amazing, but the man who makes it all work with wit and humor, Ken, has been upping his game! We knew there was food available to buy here, hamburger, chicken, you name it, for grilling each night since this location isn't near anything, but Ken really took care of us above and beyond even last time! We called a few months ago to set up the reservation and he gave us an *amazing* price, and when we arrived not only did he have burgers, steak, chicken pasta salad, and tater tots for us, he also bbq'd it all for us, served us, provided EVERYTHING, and just made it SO amazing! And he did this ALL THREE NIGHTS! And for such an amazingly reasonable price I'm not even going to mention it here. It is service and customer care like this that creates value that far surpasses the cost, and that kind of amazingness creates lifelong loyalty and friendships, which is what I'm glad to have with Ken now. There's a ton of stuff I didn't mention because I can't remember it all, but the super nice lady and other man in the office were amazing as well, tending to every need of my wife, babies and myself, down to the smallest detail. I mean even when the tub plugging switch was stuck he came over with his tools and took it apart and had it fixed in 60 seconds, right after serving us steak, FROM HIS OWN CATTLE RANCH. Yeah, I'm serious. This guy Ken is a cowboy and rancher that raises his own Bulls and beef cattle right down the street from here. What can I say? You have NOTHING to worry about coming here to stay, except maybe when you have to go home, because then you'll only have store bought feed lot beef to eat and no cowboy to grow and BBQ it for you! And I was beyond super impressed that when I went over every commonly used space and item, my Clorox wipe was beautifully white and clean. JUST AS IT SHOULD BE! It is very small, but my husband and I just needed the place to sleep and shower and it was absolutely perfect for us! Service at the front office was great! Super nice and super helpful with tips and suggestions about the tiny town. AC was great!!! Actually super great had to turn it down. And I also loved that the door was accessed through a code and not a key so it made checking out a breeze! We didn't have turn in a key! Which was great for us because we were leaving at 5am to head to Yosemite. I definitely recommend this place, for convenience and cleanliness. I wish all motels were like this place. I would definitely stay here again if I had the opportunity. P.S. I love the decor ever where. Definitely gives it character and it makes feel like the place is loved.

If you are for a peaceful stay away from the crowds, this is where you need to be. The place is full of history and when you drive up to check in, it feels like you've been transported back in time. That's especially true because there are no modern creature comforts, not cell service, no room telephone, no TV, no AC, no in room refrigerator and no room internet (although there is WiFi in the lobby/main building). The basics are very good, spacious room, big comfortable bed, traditional bathroom with good shower pressure and lots of storage. There is a full service restaurant on site serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We did not try the restaurant during our short stay. As for things close by, there is a gas station and gift shop just next door. You can arrange for horseback riding. There is a pool but it was being serviced during our stay. And you can hike straight out your front door! There are so many hiking trails around the hotel. A very good alternative in the Yosemite National Park. BTW, with a hotel reservation, you can come and go as you please without having to make a park reservation.
