Quite frankly, we were nightmare guests for this wonderful couple! First, we were all going to stay in one cottage, but upon arrival, Neil observed us trying to get my 88-year-old handicapped mother up the stairs inside. He consulted privately with Carol and very kindly offered us the unit below theirs that had the bathroom, bedroom, and living room on one floor. What a life saver! Mom and I stayed there--at no extra charge! I don't know what we would have done otherwise. Then when our car broke down in Yosemite Village, Neil drove us the almost 20 miles back to the village the next day, waited while we sorted out the car and a place to stay in the village, drove us to our next place, then helped us unload the bags into our lodging!! OMG. We were really astounded at Neil's graciousness, as well as Carol's. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We strongly recommend anyone who wants reasonable rates close to Yosemite Village check out Cozy Bear. You can save a lot of money by bringing your own food, packing lunches, and enjoying this lovely little find nestled in the woods of Wawona.

I stayed in Cozy Bear North with my husband and 3 young children in June. They have online…read morereservations, but I called to speak with Carol personally. She explained the fees and terms clearly and sent all the details by mail. She also very kindly allowed us to arrive before the 4pm check-in time when I explained we would be driving 4 hours from home with a cooler full of perishable groceries and wanted to drop them off in the refrigerator before proceeding on to the Valley for some site-seeing. Location was easy to find because I used Google maps prior to setting out. Good thing because our GPS got us to the road, but not to the specific address. Also helpful is that the entire Yosemite West neighborhood is on Google street view. Neal greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive. He and Carol live next door and invited us to call them if we needed anything and said they would come right over, but we never needed to call them. Location is the closest you can get without being in Yosemite Valley itself. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the Valley Visitor Center, but is very near destinations such as Glacier Point, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, and Wawona. The kitchen had cooking and baking implements, and a few ingredients, such as cooking oil, coffee, tea, sugar, and condiments, but these are apparently left from previous guests, but looked usable. We brought most of our groceries from home, and bought a few items each day at the Market in Yosemite Valley. There is no place to buy food or gas in Yosemite West. There is a gas fireplace and games and VCR/DVD in the living room, and an outdoor patio with a BBQ grill, but we didn't use any of these much because we were out all day enjoying nature. Beds were comfortable, there was ample storage, and the 3 kids fit perfectly in their own room with 1 double and 1 twin bed. Only slight inconveniences were having 1 bathroom, a dining table that only fits 4, and the many bear-themed decorations which crowded the space on bedroom dressers, counters, and beds. Also be aware that there are 4 separate levels to the house, so you will be going up and down stairs constantly. This is a Duplex, so occasionally we could hear the Cozy Bear South guests moving about or speaking, but it wasn't a problem because they were not overly loud. The neighborhood was quiet at night while we were there. We cleaned the kitchen and took out the garbage as instructed and Carol and Neal refunded our full cleaning deposit before we even got home from our trip. Overall, this is a very comfortable and conveniently located place to stay. It is very good for families with kids and if you like saving money by cooking your own food and don't mind washing dishes while on vacation.

Wow! exceptional vacation rental. This rental is far and above the best VRBO type vacation rental…read moreI have experienced. EVERYTHING in the house is first class. Kitchen is extremely well stocked for preparing meals, very comfortable beds (I have severe spine issues - 13 herniated discs and beds are super comfortable and supportive) and furniture, all wall switches are labeled, directions from the owners are extensive and thorough, terrific welcome notebook with lots of useful info and visitor usable hiking trail info (multiple copies so you can take one with you), snowshoes, excellent kitchen gear. The property is simply 'turn-key' if someone was wanting to rent it for several months - nothing is absent. Communication was ongoing for the duration of my stay, making sure that everything was what I needed. I am hoping to rent this home again next year, same time of year, and likely reason to visit Yosemite annually for years to come. Every word in owner's description is genuine. Awesome rental!

So so so wonderful!…read more Everything is super clean, everything is available and ready for you. Also this is the closest location to Yosemite Valley than anywhere else. They said wifi can be sporadic but we never had any issue during our 4 nights stay. And since other hotels and venues posted the same kind of warning it must be a location thing. The owners Holly and Jeff are the best. Any questions get answered immediately. This was the first time my family and I come to Yosemite and stay at a vacation rental, and I never felt any concerns because they were so good. Thank you Holly and Jeff for making our trip very special!

My husband and I got married out there a couple weeks ago and my whole family stayed there and Brenda (host) and Val (cleaning/maintenance) went so above and beyond to accommodate us all, she made sure all of the rooms had everything that everyone needed, whenever we had any questions with planning the weekend beforehand we would call her and she was so incredibly helpful with EVERYTHING. She decorated our room adding some special touches for my husband and I. My wedding weekend/week was absolutely perfect and I truly have Brenda to thank for all of the advice and help she gave us while planning the weekend before we even got out there. Martha H Whittier, CA…read more My husband and I celebrated our 14th anniversary for 5 days in Little Valley Inn. This is a great place to stay as it's in the middle between Mariposa downtown and Oakhurst. We took the bus to Yosemite which was great and convenient. This place was very cozy that I even bought myself the same comforter set that I just loved for my farmhouse guestroom. We slept very comfortably after all the hiking we did at Yosemite. We even played golf which is only about 20 minutes away in Ahwahnee and then hit the casino in Coarsegold. The owners are very friendly and informative. Would definitely stay again.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!…read more Our experience at this property was extremely disappointing and upsetting. We arrived with all the required documentation and credentials for our son's legitimate medical alert service dog. We understand that many businesses have had negative experiences with fake service animals, and we were more than willing to answer any questions. Our service dog is highly trained, well-behaved, and we always maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. Unfortunately, after initially being friendly, the owner became very aggressive, began yelling at us, and refused to accommodate us because of the service dog. Rather than having a respectful conversation, we were threatened with calling the police. After leaving the property, we parked just outside the parking lot, just by the road to look for alternative accommodations. At that point, the owner's son came outside yelling at us, demanding that we leave immediately. We were shocked by the hostility and the way we were treated!!! Beyond the poor customer service, this experience demonstrated a lack of understanding and respect for the rights of people with disabilities and the protections afforded to legitimate service dog handlers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We cannot recommend staying here under any circumstances. We hope the owners take the time to educate themselves about ADA requirements and learn to treat guests with disabilities with the respect and dignity they deserve.

WARNING: TOURIST TRAP WITH FRAUDULENT PRACTICES, APPALLING HYGIENIC CONDITIONS, AND DISMAL…read moreMANAGEMENT! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Rating: 0/5 I am forced to write this review not because of the trip itself, which was wonderful, but due to the nightmare experience we endured at the Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort. If you are looking for a pleasant stay, run away from this place. Here are the cold, hard facts, backed by proof, leaving absolutely zero room for their "excuses." 1. UNILATERAL AND FRAUDULENT CHARGE FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE The absolute lowest point of my stay was a whopping $200 charge on my credit card, processed unilaterally and completely outside of the official Booking.com channel. Their "justification"? Alleged damage to a screen door. The truth is quite different: the screen door in question was dilapidated, flimsy, and worn out--clear proof that these accommodations are far from luxury and that maintenance is nonexistent. It broke loose simply because my TWO-YEAR-OLD son leaned gently against it. Instead of taking care of the mandatory and long-overdue maintenance of such outdated structures, this resort prefers to extortionately overcharge its guests. I have received no receipt, invoice, or any proof regarding the withheld amount. This is a fraudulent and predatory practice, aimed at extracting money without any paper trail. 2. UNLIVABLE CONDITIONS AND APPALLING FILTH The accommodation turned out to be an absolute living hell. Although air conditioning was explicitly listed among the amenities at the time of booking, the facility completely lacked it. It was literally suffocatingly hot. As a substitute, we were provided with a fan that was not only completely useless at cooling the room, but also incredibly loud and caked in dirt. To make matters worse, the hygienic conditions were embarrassing: we found dead bugs inside the tent, and the floors were so filthy that after walking barefoot for just a few minutes, our socks were completely stained pitch black. A total lack of respect for the most basic hygiene standards. 3. SHAMEFUL MANAGEMENT AND UTTER DISRESPECT FOR FAMILIES Despite booking a full 6 months in advance, we were assigned a unit located in an impossible position for a family. To reach the nearest restroom, we had to climb a staggering 70 steps. How can a property assign such an accommodation to a family with two children, including a two-year-old, along with a stroller and heavy luggage? It shows an absolute lack of common sense and basic respect for guests, especially those who book half a year ahead precisely to avoid such hardships. When I pointed out the issue at check-in, the receptionist rudely brushed me off, stating "we are fully booked"--which I highly doubt given my advance reservation. CONCLUSION: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort does not deserve even a single star. Their financial practices are sketchy and potentially fraudulent, cleanliness is nonexistent, the amenity descriptions are misleading, and their room assignment logic is absurd. Do not let the location fool you: this is a terrible place that you must avoid if you want to protect the peace of your vacation. N.B. to the owner: I have read your aggressive and defensive replies to other negative reviews. Do not even bother responding to this one. The facts stated here are fully documented (including photos, dirty socks, and official communications). Your words will not change the unacceptable experience we had, nor the money you wrongfully took from us. Save your energy and use it to scrub your floors and repair your decaying property instead of attacking the customers whose vacation you ruined.

Great Service and Perfect Base Camp for Yosemite…read more For our first memorable trip to Yosemite, staying at Rosenberg's Creekside Cabin via The Redwoods in Wawona was a fantastic choice. The location is ideal--tucked into a quiet little community about 4 miles inside the park gates. Driving in, you pass a local school and a handy little market, and the main registration office even has EV charging available if you need a plug. The customer service here is what really earned the 5 stars. I booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, which apparently uses a confusing third-party system. When I called ahead to ask about adding our small dog to the reservation, the front desk told me they saw the booking, but it was under a completely different name. I semi-panicked thinking we were double-booked. I left my info with Sharon at the desk and called Chase, who assured me everything was fine but couldn't explain the naming mismatch. When I called Sharon back, she was incredibly reassuring. She explained that the name on our booking had actually been used three times before for third-party reservations. Once we got that sorted out and I remembered why I called in the first place, Sharon was incredibly sweet and told me, "Bring your pet and do not worry about it." That kind of flexibility and peace of mind is priceless when you're traveling. As for the cabin itself, everything was smooth and uneventful. It's essentially a spacious 3-bedroom home setup with all the modern comforts you'd expect from a high-end Airbnb--strong Wi-Fi, ice-cold A/C, a dishwasher, and a full washer and dryer. The kitchen was completely stocked with all the basic pots, pans, and utensils you need to cook your own meals after a long day of hiking. Location-wise, it's about a 40-minute drive down into the lower valley. The drive itself is spectacular--once you pop through Tunnel View, the landscape completely opens up. The road loops through the valley floor as a one-way, giving you front-row views of Bridalveil Fall, the Yosemite Falls trail, and El Capitan Meadow. Having a fully equipped, dog-friendly home base inside the park boundaries made our first Yosemite trip incredibly comfortable. Huge thanks to Sharon and the team for turning a potential reservation headache into a great stay!

Who knew there was a little town inside Yosemite National Park where you can find cabins to rent?…read more Turns out, The Redwoods in Yosemite is a property management company that handles rentals of approximately 120 different cabins throughout the small town of Wawona in southern Yosemite. Over the Labor Day holiday we had a neat experience with Cabin 53. It had all of the basics that you could need and was cute and clean, and had decking all around. It was surrounded by a few other cabins and some nice pine trees. Staff from the Redwoods were friendly, accommodating, and responsive. There were many different sizes and types of cabins available, so both small and large groups can be accommodated. Unfortunately our cabin had a couple minor issues which couldn't be resolved, though they did try. The Redwoods community is located a short distance off the 41 in South Yosemite. It was still about 45 minutes to the main valley area, but it also had lots of neat things nearby as well. Still better than many options outside the park. Value was decent and we didn't feel like we were overcharged. This is a great option if you are looking for something a bit different to add that rustic cabin stay to your Yosemite trip.
