I unfortunately did not read any reviews before taking my two beagles there. I want to start by saying the women who run Dodge were very nice and I am sure their intentions are in the right place. However, just because you love animals does not mean that you can care for them, which is the case for Dodge. When you go to the facility you can immediately see signs that the place is dirty and not well kept. The outside is bad, but the inside is worst. As soon as you walk through the doors you are hit over the head with the stench of dirty animals. The next thing that happens is you'll notice an overwhelming amount of small animals all being kept in a small space. I would say there were at least 10 cats as well as birds, lizards, gerbils, etc. all in this small dark space in cages stacked on top of each other. This is their only indoor space during the day where the dogs would also stay if they weren't outside. When you look to the other side of the room you see a row of kennels for the dogs, also all stacked on top of each other. I cannot stress enough how small, dark, and smelly this space is. I left my beagles there and felt sick to my stomach as I was driving away. I immediately turned around to get them because I couldn't bare the idea of them spending even one more minute there. I am tempted to notify a health inspector, as I doubt this place would pass an inspection. If the owners read this review: please shut down your facility for a short amount of time, hire cleaners, spend the money to create adequate room for all the animals, make sure the dogs and cats are separated, and hire additional staff to help you maintain the facility. I am deeply concerned for the animals currently in your care.

On Saturday, August 28th, I received three calls from the veterinary staff stating that my dog was experiencing GI issues. I was told that the veterinarian performed a physical examination and found blood and pus in his stool. They recommended antibiotics, probiotics, and a special GI diet, with the treatment estimated to cost approximately $300 or more. I declined the treatment and immediately had a family member pick him up. The very next day, we noticed that my dog was whimpering and constantly scratching. When we examined his body with a flashlight, we discovered what appeared to be a massive amount of fleas. When I contacted Wheatfield Animal Hospital to express my concerns, the employee who answered the phone was very nonchalant, dismissive, and initially unwilling to help. She placed me on hold and then returned to the phone, stating that she could not assist me because my dog did not have an up-to-date physical on file. I reminded her that my dog had a physical just three days before arriving for boarding and that all necessary paperwork had been provided. I also reminded her that their veterinarian had performed another physical examination on him that Saturday. Once I brought this to her attention, she suddenly stated, "Oh, sorry, I didn't see the update in the computer," and told me that I could come in and pick up flea medication. However, when I arrived, I was told that I would have to pay $80 for the medication. I was extremely disappointed that, after my dog was boarded at their facility and came home with what appeared to be a severe flea infestation, I was expected to pay for the treatment myself. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with my overall experience. What makes this situation even more upsetting is that no one ever followed up to ask how my dog was doing after all of these concerns were brought to their attention. This is supposed to be a place that vows to love and care for your pets, but based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage pet owners to Run--and run fast. I would not recommend Wheat field Animal Hospital for your pets ‼
