Two of my girl friends and I took Essentials of Sushi Making with Logan. The class was awesome! Logan was a wonderful instructor. The pace is pretty fast, but that was much appreciated by our group. We all felt like we learned a lot and are equipped to make sushi on our own. Everything we made was delicious. As other reviews mention, this class is closer to 90-120 minutes instead of 75 minutes. We went into it expecting that and it was the perfect length. read more

Chef Michael was very meticulous in his teaching and he clearly knows his stuff. That man has cooked in top kitchens all over the world - to learn from him for even three hours was very fortunate. We prepared a wonderful medley of Greek dishes in an industrial-style kitchen: EVERYTHING was crazy delicious. He did not do any of the prep or execution - he taught us how to do everything, step by step. He also emphasized how all of the dishes could be endlessly varied, and gave us careful technical instruction. This photo shows the yummy filo dessert with almonds and yogurt. Where to start?! I booked a class with Chef David for my boyfriend's bday. Due to traffic we arrived a whole HOUR late, but luckily we were the only two to have booked that particular class. David was excited and ready to cook regardless of the late start, and made sure we felt welcome and comfortable. My boyfriend and I loved every minute of our experience, and we learned so much! We had such a fun night at our Cozymeal cooking class. My husband and I have taken a few other cooking classes over the past few years and this stood out to us as the best, not only because of the relaxed and intimate setting, but because of how great Chef Ivan is. He explained everything in detail, but was very relaxed and happily answered our group's questions. The food we cooked ended up being really good and the portions were huge! We made an appetizer, entree (beautiful seared tuna steak), and dessert, and left full and happy with some leftovers and a little more cooking knowledge under our belts. Awesome experience from Cozy Meal! This cooking class is an awesome date night, girls' night, corporate event, etc. idea - I'm already thinking of returning for a team event. I've done a few cooking classes in Chicago and NYC, and loved this one. My husband and I opted for "A Tour of Classic Italian Dishes", a 4-course meal with Chef Ivan in Little Italy. The experience was 3 hours, which flew by as our group of 5 got hands on in making 1) arancini (rice balls) with mozzarella and tomato, 2) pasta with fresh pesto, 3) tuna steak with a fennel blood orange salad, and 4) molten lava cake with vanilla gelato. I sampled along the way, muffin topped at the end, and walked away with a happy mouth, belly, and leftovers. Food quality and execution was top notch- clean, fresh, flavorful. Considering what you would pay for a quality 4-course meal in NYC and the hands on experience, the price is very reasonable. This experience is also BYO, but Chef Ivan provided house wine as well. The venue was spacious with modern appliances, and Chef Ivan was patient with answering our many questions, efficient, and had us begin eating as he plated. I also appreciated the smaller group experience which allowed us to move freely and get involved every step of the way. Cozy Meal made it easy to tip - following your experience, they provide you with a link to provide feedback and tip, which makes this easy for those who forget. For someone who doesn't normally cook, I must say this was a fun and delightful experience! Our chef for the night was knowledgeable and entertaining. Italian was on the menu, and the line up for the night was mouth watering. We rolled up our sleeves to prep the food, and I learned a few things I could take back to my own kitchen. It was fun and simple, all while I enjoyed a glass of wine while whipping up a cuisine that even my mother would be proud of. We had tons of food left, so I gladly took them to go. In addition, the set up was fantastic. The kitchen was quite large (bigger than my manhattan apartment for sure), and equipped to cook everything you ever dreamed of. What a great time my girlfriend and I had with this. This was recommended to me and figured it'd be a great date night type thing to go to. Right from the start, the experience was awesome. The group of people who participated were great, the chef was very informative, personable and very engaging. It was seafood and we made a carpaccio, along with a poke dish, had paella (was phenomenal) and finished it off with a chocolate dessert. Overall a great experience. All of the dishes were delicious and we loved that she included some of her seasonings that she makes personally herself. I haven't taken many cooking classes, and I took my first one with Cozymeal recently. It was an entirely vegan menu: tomato and avocado tartare, fresh cavatelli pasta with mushroom Bolognese, chickpea and lentil "meatballs" with a truffle-cauliflower purée, and coconut & almond milk "cheesecake" with fresh berries. The word "vegan" tends to intimidate a lot of diners and home cooks, or induce eyes to roll, but really, everything we made was super easy to prepare with ingredients easily available (and that anyone would already know). We had the most spectacular time with Chef Kevin taking his Yakitori class to celebrate my birthday. Chef Kevin showed up exactly on time prepared and ready to go. We learned so much from him about traditional Yakitori and the food was to die for!! He also made a traditional rice dish that we tried to make ourselves only 2 days later because we were already craving it. I couldn't recommend this experience enough!! Both of us texted Chef Ivan and emailed No answer. 5 hours later he sends a note, where were you? Oh sorry we turn the phone off at 11. Don't you think if 7 people were not there perhaps you would go check if they are standing on the side walk? Really - the other 8 people made it in, and all were there prior to 15 minutes before us? I'd done a couple cooking classes before, and they typically went like this: 1) Sit around in a very large group in an industrial kitchen and watch a chef make food that you later eat a very small portion of; or 2) "Fun" cooking challenge, A.K.A. pay to be stressed and eat your own crappy food that you could make at home. Luckily, Cozymeal was nothing like either of those experiences! I did the seafood class with Chef Bahr Rappaport at Seabird, and it was AMAZING. My boyfriend and I cooked with a small, intimate group of 7 people who quickly became fast friends. We sat around a communal table in the corner of the Seabird restaurant where we prepared a series of dishes over several hours: appetizers (oysters, salmon Poke, branzino carpaccio), main (paella), and dessert. We participated in every aspect of the meal, from shucking oysters, to filleting fish, to salt-bae -sprinkling garnishes.The Chef was knowledgeable, witty, and just a solidly awesome guy to hang out with.The pace was just right: We were constantly working and eating, but not rushed, and we had plenty of time to ask questions.The food was delicious and very plentiful, and the generous kitchen staff treated us to some experimental cocktails as we sat down for the main course. I can't stress enough how special the experience of doing a cooking class in a restaurant was--preparing the actual dishes served at the restaurant and learning about the daily functioning (e.g., purchasing, seasonality) of the venue was a unique window into the food service industry that most diners don't get to experience. It was truly one of the more memorable date night experiences I have had. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out, a unique birthday idea, a team-bonding exercise or corporate event. I attended Chef Mukti's class with my partner, Andrew, and cooking with her was an incredible experience! It was our first cooking class ever, and Mukti taught us how to make *five* amazing vegan Indian dishes from scratch. Mukti not only walked us through each cooking step, but she also taught us some really helpful tips and tricks about cooking in general, including how to handle cookware properly and how to incorporate different kinds of spices -- and the benefits of them as well. Went to New York for the US Open and just happened to add on a personal cooking experience with Chef Michael. Left New York blown away by the cooking experience and was definitely the highlight of the trip. My date and I were the only individuals to sign up for the Taste of Southern Italy class, which made it even more intimate. Chef Michael treated us to an evening full of Jazz music while offering up his personal experiences, tricks of the trade, and brilliant cooking methods. I am by no means a cook; however, my date loves to cook and had numerous questions that Chef Michael was more than happy/pleased to answer. It's not possible to 'geek out' enough in front of him, he takes everything in stride. He offered tips/corrections/food safety that was done in a non-condescending way making you feel completely at ease while in a professional kitchen, which can be intimidating. Everything was made from scratch, including the pasta (so ignore previous reviews that suggest otherwise). He personally made sure each of the wine glasses were topped off throughout the evening. The meal itself was incredibly flavorful. I honestly couldn't believe I had just prepared and cooked the meal I was eating, it was that good. When the meal was over, and Chef Michael had cleaned up all of the messes/dishes, he continued to chat it up and encouraged us to stick around as long as we liked. When he states he does this for the personal experiences and interactions, he truly means it. Cooking with Chef Michael is highly recommended. read more
