I will start by saying that I did contact management and that led me to leave an even lesser review than I was anticipating. This company would text me (not email) at 10:00pm at night regarding details. Day-of the chef called me repeatedly panicking on where to park for our downtown corporate event. When he arrived, he was extremely stressed and upset that we had stairs and he had to take the equipment up them. My husband of course helped with the entire setup but it made for an uncomfortable beginning. The "salad" was ridiculous that was brought in. It was LETTUCE. Zero toppings and zero dressing. Just lettuce. I asked the chef and he told me to put yum yum sauce on it. When I addressed this with management, they said their salad simply is lettuce and they do not provide anything else. This would have been nice to know in advance as no one is going to munch on dry spring mix. The chef made a whole plate of shrimp that we paid for....this would have been fine except he ruined everything at the end. When we paid him, we included a $200 tip. He snatched the receipt and yelled at us in front of our guests that we did not leave him enough money. I was SO embaressed. I wish I would've read reviews first because multiple other people are claiming the same experience happened to them. When I emailed customer support, I received an apology email acknowledging these issues but was told zero refund would be given. Really poor customer service all the way around. Based on the timing, we are very concerned that our illnesses were related to the meal we were served\. Instead of showing concern or trying to resolve the situation, management did nothing to accommodate us or make things right. This was supposed to be a special celebration, but it ended with several of our guests getting sick and a complete lack of customer service afterward. I understand that illnesses can have different causes, but the timing and the number of people affected made this an extremely alarming experience. The food was great, and our chef made the night fun. Unfortunately, the experience ended on an uncomfortable note. After he finished cooking, he opened the tip envelope in front of us and told us we hadn't tipped enough. He then asked for an additional $10, explaining that he had "given us free dumplings." We had already tipped 18%, so being asked for more gratuity was awkward and inappropriate. If there is a required gratuity or minimum tip, it should simply be included in the bill upfront rather than requested afterward. I am always happy to tip generously for great service, but asking guests for additional gratuity after they've already tipped left a bad impression on an otherwise enjoyable evening. I booked Hibachi W back in May for an event on July 26 at 7:00 PM. From the start, I communicated that I would have a large party and would need at least two chefs. I initially booked a second chef, but it was later canceled by Cindy, who assured me there were no scheduling conflicts and that I would still have two chefs. As my guest count grew to over 60, I asked for three chefs, which Cindy agreed to, saying one chef could handle up to 25 people. The day before the event, Cindy texted (not called) to say the chefs would now be arriving at 7:30 PM and offered two free appetizers (which come with just 6 pieces each). I told her this was not acceptable for a party of over 60 guests. We eventually agreed on three appetizer platters--not a great solution, but better than two small appetizers. On the morning of the event, one of the chefs texted to confirm the address. I double-checked the 7:30 PM arrival, and he confirmed. Despite that, no chefs arrived on time. I called the chef who had texted me--he said he was stuck in traffic and kept repeating "20 minutes" for over 5 minutes on the phone. I tried to contact Cindy, who told me she'd call back but didn't. After multiple attempts, she finally picked up and claimed she was "on the phone with another customer." Not reassuring. Clearly someone else was having issues, as I doubt if a customer was calling to make a reservation on a Saturday evening. The chefs finally arrived well after 8:00 PM. The first chef showed up at 8:05, and the second and third arrived at 8:25 PM. This was an hour late for an event with over 60 guests. Worse yet: No noodles were provided for 9 guests who paid for them. When asked, the chef simply said they weren't sent. I deducted that cost myself. Lobster tails were not in shells, but rather chopped up. Not even sure it was real lobster. The chefs were not interactive, offered no entertainment, and just walked around pouring sake, which they poured in a water gun from a Vodka bottle. One guest received 3 shrimp and 2 scallops for $50--completely unacceptable. Two chefs set up right next to each other, despite the large space. When asked to reposition, one chef acted as if he didn't understand. I still gave a 15% tip, despite the lateness, missing food, and lack of engagement--more than they deserved. The chef sat at the table for 15 minutes stating he needs a bigger tip as it was three of them. Had they arrived on time, and provided us entertainment, they would have received their full 25% tip. Pros: Some early communication from Cindy was helpful. Cons: Chefs arrived over an hour late Poor communication the day of Missing and incomplete food orders No entertainment or personality from chefs Poor value and disappointing service overall This event was supposed to be fun and memorable, but Hibachi W made it stressful and frustrating. I received a 20% discount after demanding compensation, but honestly, much more should have been offered. I cannot recommend this company and will not be using them again. read more

My comment would probably get deleted but here is my honest review. We had an event with 55 people and did not have a good experience. 1st the chefs showed up 30 mins late to our waiting guest. Salad was served 10 mins before food started cooking. We expected 2 chefs and 3 was sent disrupting our entire thoroughly thought-out layout. 2nd we were told where we can set up which was in the driveway hidden from our guest. Lost the whole hibachi experience there. What my guest saw was trays of food coming out from the driveway. 3rd no intersection with my guest. Sake was shared 2 times for 3 mins to 55 guest. It was a party and they definitely didn't bring that vibe with them. No show, no talking, no laughing, nothing of that sort! Everything was rushed. 4th Chef A** demanded a tip of $550. DEMANDED FOR OVER 30 mins for a 'suggested tip'. Claims were made that they don't get paid and their only source of income was from the tip. Imagine how embarrassing the host felt when guest were looking on. The chef even went so far as to ask the DJ for the microphone to demand tips for guest. Humiliating? To 'make this up' and 'there's nothing we can do' Hibachi W offered a $100 discount for our $3000 event that was ruined. We left feeling robbed of the whole hibachi experience and the reviews were misleading. This was unacceptable and at some point the excuses won't be tolerated. read more

Great food and experience during the cooking. Knocked off 2 stars for the below (as they had a big impact on the overall experience): 1. Our time was 7:30pm. We were told they would be there 7:15pm to set up. Chef didn't show up until 8pm and didn't even text/call to explain the delay (I had to text them at 7:30pm asking if we should be expecting them soon, to which the response was simply "yes"). We spent 30min hungry and waiting wondering when they would show up/why the delay. Once he arrived it took 15 additional minutes to set up. 2. At the end of the evening I paid the full amount + 20% ontop of the food/chef bill (not including the $100 travel fee in the total I was tipping on as you don't tip on what is essentially a tax/fee for the travel and not the service). When he was counting the money he said "this is not enough, my company requires that you pay 20% tip on the whole bill." I explained that I did leave 20% on the total before the $100 travel fee as that isn't a charge for the service itself and he just repeated "this is not enough." First of all- tip is not "required" nor was specified as required in any communications with the company (and if they want it to be - they should just build it into the cost). Second- to demand more money after showing up 45 minutes late in front of a group of people was completely unprofessional. I was expecting more from the service. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. Whatever you do, avoid at all costs. I booked a Hibachi Chef for a surprise party for my dad's 60th birthday party and it was the worst experience I have ever had. The booking was done weeks in advance, I was back and forth with the company who was always quick to reply and answer my questions. I made sure to ask that the chef would give a typical Hibachi "show/experience" and they said it was even better than in restaurant. Naturally we were so excited. We were booked for 7pm, chef was supposed to arrive at 6:50. At 7:05 I get a call from the "chef" cannot understand a single word but he kept saying hibachi and late, so I gathered he was going to be late. He showed up at 7:20 and it was quickly apparent he did not speak one word of English. We could not communicate at all. The entire night. My Dad has a gluten allergy- which was communicated in advance and they sent soy sauce in replace of the terriyaki. However we needed to know if the salad dressing had gluten but the chef could not understand and therefore my dad did not feel comfortable eating it. The dressing was disgusting. Nothing like the ginger dressing you get in a restaurant. It was a jelly like consistency squirted over dry mixed green salad. The worst part of all was the chef did not engage with us AT ALL!!! Outside of squirting way too much sake in our mouths and not stopping as it was pouring all over our faces- he never looked up at us the entire time. He didnt so much as say happy birthday. He cooked and served our food and started cleaning up. I tried calling the company 15+x during the time to desperately try and communicate with this guy. Even sent texts that were delivered and ignored. Once the chef was done my husband figured out a way to tell him to call someone- so we eventually did speak to someone who said- oh yea we do get complaints that he doesnt speak english. Like TF???? You knew he didnt speak English and you sent him for my event? With an allergy? They took no accountability. They never called to apologize or even to hear what happened. We had my daughters 14th birthday party with family in the backyard yesterday- 12 people in total. Luis was friendly when he arrived, arrived 40 minutes early to set up, very organized/ was ready to go at our appointed time. He gave the kids inflatable head bands - blew up a balloon and made a little dog. Once the hibachi started it was fun- entertaining/ he cooked with flair, like a hibachi restaurant- popped food in people's mouths, the water gun of sacki, and the food was delicious/ we did shrimp and filet mignon- delicious! Great experience overall but a few things could be improved. We scheduled a 6:30-8:00 dinner for a birthday celebration. We were told that the chef would arrive about 6:15. Around 6:35, we started calling to see where the chef was. No answer. We have a house full of people and the backyard set-up and decorated. I started trying to figure out alternate dinner plans. My husband continued to call and was told that the chef was on his way - probably traffic. Around 6:45, we call again. Same thing - initially no answer, then he is coming. No ETA. He did arrive about 6:50 and began set-up. Super fun and engaging. Food was delicious. They asked for orders which we supplied a couple of weeks in advance. Oddly, they did not actually bring all that was ordered. I and another guest ordered shrimp. No shrimp. Another ordered beef ribs. That was not there either. The chef engaged everyone with sake in a super soaker. It was fun and I think everyone, except one guest, enjoyed it. This guest was a good sport, but the chef truly soaked him in sake - his shirt, pants, everything dripping wet. He was the first one of the evening, so he had to sit through the party wet. He actually left early. It was a great party, but could be improved by arriving on time. If you are late, call and give an ETA. Show up with the food ordered and don't soak guests. It is a poor reflection in the host. Would do again but would speak with the chef to set expectations at the beginning. Didn't think that was necessary, but now I know. I think you will have a great time with this party idea. Definitely memorable. read more
