I went here for a work event and had a really enjoyable time. We had about 20 people or so and we were divided into two groups, each making a Louisville salad, some olive tapenade chicken and a chocolate and orange trifle. This isn't an intense cooking class, just in case you're wondering but it really can't be because it's designed as a fun group activity. Therefore, everything is prepped really well and with basic kitchen skills you and your team can prepare the food. I did learn a good onion dicing technique that I used the next day. In any event, our supervising chef was Ryan and he was great. Really energetic and helpful. There was plenty of work to do for all of us and the time went by quickly. When it came time to eat, we were all very hungry. I thought all the food was delicious. I was surprised at how generous the portions were, especially the dessert. Of course that didn't stop me from eating the whole thing. This was a really nice group activity and the staff there do a great job of getting things done so the program moves along without feeling rushed. TLDR: have been here for a corporate event pre COVID, and then hosted a birthday party with 14 people last weekend and MCP was nothing but accommodating, prepared, easy to communicate with and most importantly, FUN!! The space is so beautiful and open and it feels like a treat to be able to host a party here. We did for a birthday, and the event went off amazingly. Unlike other cooking classes I have done before, the instructor doesn't drone on and on while everyone waits around to do something (or drink). MCP is very effective in how they divide and conquer the guests into different tasks so everyone has something fun to do, all while drinking wine! The Hor d'oeuvres provided in the beginning were absolutely delicious and a treat. The food all came out really well and tasty. We were served the food like at a restaurant with constant refilling of wine. Our host MICHELLE was so nice, and attentive. Every single guest told me they had such a great time. The ONE minor note I would add is: we were told at 9pm (when the event was supposed to end), that we could extend for 30 more minutes for an additional $300+. Though I had been warned about the timing at the beginning, I think it would have been nice to be reminded again a bit before so we could start wrapping up rather than needing to extend for 30 more minutes since we had very little notice. Also felt like $300+ for only 30 more minutes was kind of steep. Other than the one complaint (which can be solved by just setting a timer yourself which I should have done), I have nothing but rave reviews for MCP and the team. From start (reaching out inquiring) to the very end, they were super communicative, nice and hospitable. I know I will definitely have another event in my future here :) read more

My whole team attended a session last month. Other than apparent cheating by my co-workers (kidding, but not really), we had the most amazing time! From the time we arrived, we were treated to delish passed plates, a extremely tasty cider- of which I am now a huge fan of- and so many laughs. I'd love to think it was all due to by wonderful team, but alas, I have to admit that the staff/crew there made it one of the most enjoyable corp events I've had. My company organized an intern networking/team building cooking competition event called "Battle of the Bites" at My Cooking Party. The staff, space, and coordination were superb. Upon walking in, we were welcomed with an open bar and appetizers. Our host, Nate, provided a brief introduction. Best yet, he and the rest of the team were very accommodating of my many food allergies. George, our team chef, was great in teaching some basic knife skills and showed us different ways to cut an onion (useful for me!) before we got started with an Iron Chef-life competition, making two appetizers out of 12 surprise ingredients. George helpfully guided a bunch of novice cooks on appetizer ideas and ways to prepare them. After the competition, the chefs cooked and served a meal, including steak, chicken, roasted asparagus, as well as balsamic-glazed portobello mushrooms just for me. My colleagues raved about the chocolate lava cake and vanilla ice cream dessert. Due to my food sensitivities, I got fresh berries with mint--which was perfect. The servers kept our glasses filled throughout the event. Overall, the ambiance was perfect for a well-organized and very fun event. read more

We had a corporate event here the other night and everyone agreed just how much fun this was! We walked in and champagne/wine greeted us at a small bar area. One side of the beautiful loft is a well-equipped kitchen with 3 island kitchens set up for stations (salad, ravioli, and dessert sections for our night). The other side is one long banquet table with silverware and tablecloth. Hor d'oeuvre's were served: eggrolls, bacon-wrapped dates, sesame-crusted tuna, etc. The cooking started with a few short demos from one of the chefs on how to use the knife, pasta press and ravioli cutter. Then we were broken up into three groups by the island stations: salad, ravioli, and apple tart. I was going to make dessert but the salad station needed more hands. Everyone was free to move between the stations but I honestly had so much to do at the salad station that I forgot to check out the other stations. The chefs taught us a few kitchen tricks and helped us to make a killer salad: apples, candied walnuts, spinach, blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, made-from-scratch balsamic vinaigrette, and more. The ravioli and dessert were cooked/baked by the time the salad team had plated the salads. We went to sit down and those with their special food requests got their prepared gluten-free/vegetarian/vegan options whereas the rest of the people got served what the party prepared. (I'm sure they made additional ravioli that they had prepared beforehand.) We had to clear out by 9pm sharp for the 3 hour event. One of the most stressful part of my job is annually finding somewhere in NYC that can accommodate 60-70 people, promotes team bonding AND is fun. Thank GOD we found My Cooking Party. Even before walking through the door, Sara was so helpful answering every little question I or my team had, including all the dietary restrictions. Once on site, Nate and the team were awesome at keeping things going, making sure all ran smoothly and most importantly that we were having FUN! The Chopped-Style cooking party was THE BEST, and the fact that the wine and beer keep pouring was awesome. We started off with an hour-ish of passed hors d'oeuvres, a MASSIVE cheese board and crudités and then moved into the Chopped style competition where each team selected mystery ingredients and then has to make 2 more hors d'oeuvres to share. To top it off, a curve ball ingredient is given to each team half way through the prep! Then everyone gets to taste the different preparations and a team is declared a winner, while mini desserts are passed. I highly recommend this for any team outing!! read more

Wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a mix tape off an iPhone started the night - big enough to do a little speech with seating on the side, then on to the game where they have you make two appetizers for the "judges", with a point for speed and six to twelve "mystery" ingredients that were similar to each other's tables. A mini-chopped, except a lot of corporate people playing around with knives, talking, and over wine. A fun way for people to spend an evening. The helper chefs on each table are great, with different tips and more, but don't really let you go wild with the ideas, they're pretty conservative in the food choices mostly due to unprepared people that normally don't cook running all around. Still, an interesting way to spend a night, but definitely not for those who've cooked before. More fun as a group activity amongst people that aren't too competitive. read more

My company had our holiday party here last week Wednesday. Absolutely awesome! First let me warn you, the entrance isn't as grand as everything else! The elevator from the street to the 3rd floor seemed as though you were in a final destination movie. The greeters were amazinggggly beyond, took our coats, introduced themselves, and got us drinks! My drink for the night was cider with a shot of rum, Yum! Then we had a "battle of the bites" groups were given ingredients to make an appetizer, and the results were given later. Don't worry folks, you're co workers meal isn't the main meal. We had a formal sit down dinner, Louisville Salad, garlic mashed potatoes, southern style Mac nCheese, Chilean Sea Bass, and steak. Was our menu for the night. Then was time for the prize ceremony, obv my team won best appetizer! Chris was our chef for the night, he was superb, allowed us to use our creativity, and team building experience while guiding us on how we should use our super sharp knives. This place has the kitchen of my dream! Long, clean tables with large cooktops under bright hanging lights, sinks and fridges on one side not blocking any natural light. Experienced instructors (our guy had been here working on this type of events for 8 years!! Ask him to show cutting an onion in different ways), no blah (the cooking itself has to be run efficiently and organized) as there's limited ovens and frying machines. My first time cooking for a large group, so there had to be some trade-off between speed and quality (grilled ~150 shrimps for our dish, shrimp sopes). My one wish was more vegetarian options, just in case people didn't like working with cheese and meat. read more

We had a corporate event here tonight and everyone had fun cooking! There is a tiny bar serving drinks (beers/wines) during the whole cooking competition. The other end of the loft was two tables for preparing the food. We split up as two teams (~10 ppl per team) as competitors both in terms of speed and flavor. Each team operated under a chef who taught us how to cut onions/garlic/potatoes and etc. Our cooking materials were set but team members voted for how to cook them. The whole process was very interactive and the dishes were hands-on easy to learn ones. In the end, we sat down and had a big dinner. The dishes were split between two teams. Additionally, a dessert is also served. After dinner, they also gave us coupons to win two final prizes (cooking tools). Overall, it was very fun and interactive. It's a good team building event as well as a first step towards learning some basic dishes. I would recommend this place for others for team building events. read more

We hosted our team building activity at My Cooking Party and we had a blast! We chose the "Battle of the Bites" format and our group had so much fun preparing dishes with some friendly competition. The staff was phenomenal. The chefs were patient with our group (even after a few glasses of wine ;) ) and the host and bartender were super friendly and approachable. The meal after the competition was delicious. We had NY strip steak and free range amish chicken with shaved brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes followed by a lemon meringue dessert. My Cooking Party was very accommodating to our group's dietary restrictions. We are still talking about how much fun we had! Arranged a cooking party to celebrate a bachelorette and it was so much fun! It was a great way to get to know some of the other ladies and at the end we enjoyed a delicious homemade 3-course meal. Chef George was a great teacher and gave us a knife demo in the beginning (I have been holding knives wrong all my life) and Keith provided excellent service. I feel bad that it has taken me so long to write a review for this place (over a year) but hey better late than never! As much as I loved coming here, I don't' think I completely appreciated it until I (unfortunately) attended a different venue for a cooking event yesterday. Every year, through work, we have a cooking party with around 50 people. We do this for the new hires joining the youngest analyst class so that they can meet their mentors. So I think that's important to note because yes we do want to learn how to cook, but the social aspect is the key component for success. When we arrived, you were greeted right away by a huge selection of hors d'ouerves as well as pitches of sangria and wine. They were not stingy at all with drinks and the starters were interesting and enjoyable. I have a great picture from here that has me holding a flame torch because I guess my job for the day was browning the meringue. The food itself was extremely enjoyable as well. Honestly, I can't recall all of the exact food that we cooked, but I do remember making wonderful half-moon raviolis in two flavors. I really enjoyed the fact that we were able to help with the cooking but when we actually had the meal we felt like we were at a restaurant so there was a great social element as well. It's a truly gorgeous space, and I recommend it to anyone doing any sort of corporate event and even a high end one. This would also be an awesome bridal shower place as well. read more

I just hosted my future sister in law's bachelorette dinner with My Cooking Party this weekend. We had an amazing time. We had 15 girls in a private kitchen loft on the west side. Upon arrival the host took the reins from me and took care of every detail, informing our gluten free and vegan guests of their separately prepared meals, making sure our wine glasses were full all night and generally setting a wonderful atmosphere for a bunch of 20-something girls looking to have some good fun before going out in NYC. The food was amazing. Chef Josh taught us knife skills as well as how to handle homemade pasta dough and a cute way to present our salads. Our server, Nicole, was present whenever someone needed her and was very helpful. The maitre'd Steven was absolutely a hit, everyone loved him. He definitely helped tie the room and party together. I was able to hook up my ipod to play our own music and was also welcome to decorate however I liked for our bride. When I booked the dinner, Lisa Marie helped me through each step and answered each question. She was always available when I called and was very prompt with emails. The whole event was easy to set up even with 15 girls with different tastes and allergies included. I would definitely do this again for a party, bachelorette or not! read more

My friend had her Bachlorette party here and it was a blast. Definitely something different. She told me that she set out the menu. So, it seems that you can choose what you wanna learn how to cook. Our chef was very helpful and I did learn a few tricks. Making fresh pasta isn't as tricky as I thought it was. Filling raviolis is a lot simpler than I thought, too. I felt like I learned stuff, but still had fun. Also, my wine glass was never empty. After awhile, I started dropping ricotta in my wine. No problem. The gent keeping my glass fill came over with a new full glass of wine. This was a lot of fun. All the ladies enjoyed it. And our resulting food was delicious. And after we had finished everything, we were sent home with our aprons and the recipes and directions on how to make everything we ate. So much fun I hope to do it again. read more

Don't except to actually make any decisions or compete. You are told what to do and are a line cook. Spent a lot of money to just cut the ingredients that go into my meal. Should have either gone to a real cooking place or just a nice restaurant. I actually think our team collaborated less and just learned how to take instructions as a result of this. read more

This was such a fun activity! I planned this for my sisters bridal shower and I have to say that we were all blown away! Planning was super easy. Everyone was very helpful. When you get there you're taken care of from start to finish. They make sure that you always have a drink in your hand and you're having a good time. This is great for really any type of event. I really had a great time during my evening at "My cooking party". I enjoy cooking at home, and my dream has always been to "cook in Manhattan", in a casual setting. This was perfect. Even for a Monday night. This was actually more, because it wasn't just getting to cook/prep, it was set up as a nice dinner party, with finger food, cool music and wine. Then having the meal you just prepared, set up as a fine dinner. SOoo MUCH more than just a class. Our chef, Michael, was friendly and answered every question we had. I really enjoyed interacting with him and the other guest that were in our group. We prepped and cooked: Full sized baked portabella mushrooms with asiago cheese, greens and wine vinaigrette dressing. We learned to make our own Parpadelle noodles (from scratch) and use them in a red wine Bolognaise and a Fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms. For desert, We also got to poach some pears in wine with cinnamon and cloves. What a great night. I was really concerned about being a single there, but it was never even an issue. The organization I work for hosted a cooking event at the 335 West 35th Street location after a particularly grueling offsite workshop earlier in the day, and what an absolutely delightful change of pace it was! From the moment I arrived at MCP, I felt pampered and relaxed (totally refreshing and much appreciated after the exhausting bu*****t workshop that morning - and if any of my colleagues are reading this, it's all right, I've made my opinion on THAT little outing quite clear already, LOL!). The tension and stress I'd been feeling vanished completely as soon as I walked through the door at MCP's workshop. Everything about the MCP experience combined to make the event truly enjoyable: the space itself, a funky/hip, totally-New-York loft, cool but welcoming, and not in the least bit pretentious; the staff and chefs, cordial, professional, and full of good solid cooking wisdom; the music, very atmospheric but unobtrusive, and and totally in tune with the rest of the elements; the cooking experience - more on that in a moment - and, of course, the food itself. I was tickled to be presented with a printed menu personalized for our organization, complete with our logo - a small thing, but just one of the many thoughtful extra professional touches MCP provides seemingly effortlessly. We were going to be preparing (and eating, of course!) marinated beef skewers; a mixed salad; two kinds of ravioli; and tarte tatin, an apple pastry. Workstations were set up for prep; we had our choice of which prep / cooking activity or activities we wanted to participate in. I sliced some apples for the tarte, and then volunteered to saute a panful - and I must say, I'm proud of how perfectly they turned out, LOL! Afterwards, I went to lend a hand at the station where the beef skewers were being assembled (tenderloin, no less - wasn't expecting that but YUM!). Then it was time to eat. MCP really has its recipes well-tuned for groups as likely to contain the open-a-carton-and-pop-it-in-the-microwave sort as folks who may really know their way around a kitchen (I'm sort of in the middle there), because everything turned absolutely delicious - that apple tarte, wow! - regardless of the experience or otherwise of those cooking. (The recipes are rather fundamental, but hey, that's ENTIRELY suitable to the kind of event this is.) And we were even given handouts of the recipes we'd prepared - AND we got to take home the aprons we'd worn, another nice touch. I told our H.R. person, who'd organized the event, that whenever she was tempted to arrange another bloody skills training workshop, she should take a deep breath, count to ten...and book My Cooking Party for us again instead! We had a 'bridal shower' here and every person that attended kept saying how great this idea was and how much fun they were having - especially over a traditional shower where you just watch the bride open gifts.. wompwomp. Keith was fantastic and super friendly/helpful throughout the entire event. He even helped me clean up the cake I dropped on the street outside of the place on my way in - it was rough morning before I got there. The food we cooked was delicious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND (we did the Dinner Duel and each team had their own chef to help brainstorm and execute our cooking plans). Also, the place is beautifully decorated to begin with so you don't necessarily have to bring much in which made it so much easier, as I live in the city and didn't have a car to transport things.
