Paying a monthly fee, not cheap, to have 24/7 monitoring. So why was I not informed my ring camera was not working? When I found this out, on my own, I requested a new battery for the camera and was informed it did not use a battery, it was hard wired. Had to schedule a tech to come out, after waiting a week, only to have him say that it was the battery. Replaced it with one that does not use batteries and charged more than $60 for a service fee. Not worth the money we are paying. As soon as contract ends, we will be looking elsewhere. Don't waste your money. read more

I would never recommend CPI. First, when you sign up, they don't tell you you're in a 3-year contract. I had more technical difficulties with this system even though you're paying a high monthly premium and they act all nice to get you to stay with them. But the minute you say no. They want to slap you with every fee they can get. My cameras haven't worked in months but they won't even talk about crediting you for that time. You pay a fortune for the cameras and then when you cut off your service you can't even use them. I would not recommend them. They are nowhere near worth the money you pay. read more

When we had our house built in Summerville SC we paid CPI $475 to prewire for a 5 ceiling speakers and one subwoofer, no subwoofer wiring was done, connector on plate has no wires going anywhere. Partially cheated on this item Also at that time we were lead to believe that in order to hide the wires from the cable box to the TV on the wall we would need to pay for the installation of a conduit in the living room and the master bedroom called "TV Tech Pre Wire Tube @ $325 Item 17050 and as it turns out the ONLY cable provider requires ONLY an electrical outlet for the FIRESTICK and there is no need for conduits of any kind since they don't have cable boxes anymore and it is not like there are multiple cable providers since Home Telecom has the monopoly in this subdivision. The prewire for the speakers was done correctly but we feel we were cheated on the other two issues and when they sent their cocky rep he made us feel as if we were not understanding the use for the conduits. It is a scam and very calculated way to get a few dollars making you believe you will need something that in this day and age is outdated in this subdivision because Home Telecom does have the exclusive right to provide Internet and TV We are glad we didn't buy other options because they are probably part of a larger scam, no refunds, no credits offered. This is definitely a decision I labored over for more than a month. I've done all the research and compared all the pricing. I started out looking at a Simplisafe system and then thought I had settled on Abode. I spoke to two different ADT reps and was going back to the Abode system when my Lyft driver gave me a number for his friend Doug M from CPI. I figured I'd wait until after the weekend and give him a call. That Sunday he sent me a text and we set up a time for him to come in on Monday. Being a salesman in a past life, I hate when someone tries to hard sell me or assumes I haven't done my research on the topic at hand. Doug did no such thing. He laid out the facts and gave me the reasons I needed to hear to help me make my decision to choose CPI. Plus, if you're looking for smart home options, they've got it all. Camera doorbell with voice, smart locks, and cameras for anywhere else you'd like. They use alarm.com equipment for most components, Skybell for the doorbell cam, and Yale for smart locks. Luckily they had an opening and we had the whole thing installed the next morning. It was a big job and one I'm glad to not have done on my own if I had gone with a do-it-yourself system. We had one issue where an existing deadbolt hole wasn't drilled out large enough to fit the new lock (it's rare but I guess it happens). I ended up getting a locksmith to come out and bore out the hole that afternoon and we were able to finish the job all in one day. It wasn't the cheapest option but it wasn't the most expensive either. I was able to get all the components I wanted with no contract and an excellent monitoring system. It's only been a short time but I'm very happy with how the components all work seamlessly together and if I ever need to add onto the system I can just give Doug a call. Before you sign a contract with CPI be sure to read the term and termination conditions. We understood them when we installed a very expensive system. We sold the house this year and the buyers had agreed to take over the monitoring. CPI released us from the obligation- which is 75% of remaining monitoring. We moved away from the service area. The buyers then changed their mind and didnt commit. CPI just billed us for this remaining amount. The fact they lost a customer should not be our responsibility. I attempted to reason with CPI and after many aggravating calls, they cut us a little slack. In today's climate, is this how a big company should treat a well paying customer? So far, so good! Thanks to some recommendations from this page and others, my wife and I chose to go w/ CPI for home security. Now that the install is complete, I can say without reservation that Jacalyn Pelloni was excellent helping us navigate the process. No pressure, very professional, and bonus points for flexibility when the hurricane pushed our closing back several times. This is the worst company I have used in a long time. I signed up for a two year contract, they changed it to three years. I canceled my service in January for March. I was billed in March for service even though I was not using there alarm system any longer. Turns out I needed to send them a cancellation in writing. I was not informed of this when I called in January. If I could put zero stars it would be a better indigo their service. read more

Beware, this company is NOT military friendly. When signing up I stated we would only be here four years yet we somehow signed a five year contract. They will not accept my transfer orders and want to charge me a $479.88 cancellation fee. read more

Buyer beware!!! This is a sleazy sale scam. CPI installed a "security system" that is not secured. They sold me a system without window sensors even though I have a 1 story house with a lot of windows. The system hasn't operated properly since it was installed. Now they want $4000 to pay for the equipment and monitoring. They just want your money. This is NOT a real security system. read more

I have tried for the past three months to discontinue our monitoring service due to lack of use by us and our tenants. We only agreed to monitoring as a courtesy to the previous homeowners who were still under contract with CPI. As soon as the contract was up, I contacted CPI to cancel the monitoring. They sent someone out to disconnect the unit, which was not done, and the technician proceeded to try to talk my husband into continuing the service. I spoke with that technician the following week to find out why the unit was not disconnected, and he responded that there was a miscommunication. He assured me that the contract would be canceled and the unit disconnected. Three months later and repeated phone calls and e-mails to Shawn (technician), I am still being charged $36.99 (for more than a year) for a service that we have never used! Shawn Mulligan blames his manager. Now neither one will return my e-mails or calls. Beware! Don't use your debit card or bank routing information.
