I had a canvas that I wanted to have stretched and placed on a high quality wood frame--and I wanted it done by someone who knows their stuff when it comes to original artwork. I was thinking I'd have to go to Oakland or SF. After checking Yelp for recommendations I found Chris at CR and I was thrilled to find out the business is located less than 10 minutes from my home. I called Chris first to find out if this is the kind of work he does and then I visited. Seeing the quality of the work they do, I didn't hesitate to leave my painting to be stretched. Not only did Chris do an excellent job, he added a heavy paper backing for me to protect the canvas as well as hanging wire. Now all I have to do is hang it! I was looking for a recommendation for a framing shop for some paintings, and CR Framing came highly recommended. The shop is located a couple blocks off the main drag in Brentwood but GPS pointed the way. I found Chris friendly, knowledgeable and professional for consulting on my framing needs. Several paintings were for future sale, and one I wanted to display at home. The three paintings for sale could get a lower overall price if I selected the same frame/mats as Chris explained they pass on a quantity/materials discount. For the painting we would keep I chose a slightly more expensive frame and UV protected plexiglass. CR has a wide variety of frames and mats: one wall with frames in stock that are less expensive and have a faster turnaround, fancier frames that need to be ordered are on the opposite wall. Glass options range from normal glass all the way up to museum quality material with varying degrees of price, weight and light-protective qualities. Thinking in advance on the size of frame and mat for your picture always helps. The finished framed paintings looked great - the right frame makes such a difference! At first, most of the communication was via Yelp messaging. Once the painting arrived I took it to Chris and Melody. Chris took the time to go over how I wanted it framed. He showed me different ways it could be stretched. Melody measured the inside of my car to make sure it would fit when I brought it home. After driving home, I thought about what I had learned and realized that I needed exact measurements after looking at my wall. Chris and Melody made it happen! Needless-to-day, I am very happy with the framing. These are very nice people and take pride in their business and work. They went above and beyond. I ordered 6 27"X41" framing plexiglass and 1 22"X29" plexiglass. On the day of the pick up, only 5 27"X41" and 1 22"X29" plexiglass is available. Chris help me to move the plexiglass to my car. Then Chris said he will order the last plexiglass and send to my home directly. I was a bit upset because the last plexiglass takes about 3 weeks to arrive. Chris and his wife are absolutely fantastic. Chris took his time in working through mat/frame choices with me on several prints. He cares about getting right and that I am happy. I was going to repaint my bathroom as frame I chose threw it off. He offered to change frame out and said he wants me happy! I was unable to come pick up a group of prints that had taken a while (special frame) and so they offered to come drop them off. I brought two very old Japanese scrolls for framing after checking pricing at Michael's. I love Michaels but was shocked by the prices even at 60% off and the frame was 70% off. C & R framing framed both of my large scrolls for half of Michael's cost! The frames are gorgeous. They consulted on what colors would work best with the scrolls and even repaired a few small tears.
