The wait was longer than I expected as it was after the breakfast rush, and before the lunch rush. I ordered the chicken and dumplings as I have in the past as I always found them to be delicious. The chicken and dumplings at this restaurant was like eating soup. The broth was very, very thin like water instead of thick like it should've been. If I had to compare Cracker Barrel restaurants to this restaurant, I would never go to another Cracker Barrel. The Cracker Barrel in Beaumont is an embarrassment to the organization. Dirty food preparation are disgusting. Green beans were wilted and mushy and not even close to warm. Half of a vegetable plate was inedible. A rather sad experience. Staff should be trained to recognize uneaten food as an issue. Ordered through DoorDash: meal came with eggs but no toast, and the app did not give the option to buy a side of toast. I called the store and asked if they could add it to my order and adjust it on my bill, they said they could not do this for me. I asked if they could just throw in a slice of bread to eat my eggs with, they said no. I didn't realize it was so complicated for them to accommodate a longtime customer with something so simple. Very poor customer service to say the least. A slice of toast would have cost the store 10-20 cents? Losing a regular customer (first responder) going forward will cost them a lot more. read more

Our waitress was absolutely amazing, especially because she was still new. Although our waitress was amazing I can't say anything about this location other than, Worst Cracker Barrel ever! The food wasn't under seasoned, it wasn't seasoned at ALL. The kitchen neglected to tell our waitress that they were out of buns so when our burger came out it was a sad lump of overcooked chicken on two pieces of toast with a squirt of mayo. The fish was worst then what you could expect of fish and chips in the uk. Absolutely tasteless. The only thing that had any good flavor was the roast, and still that wasn't great either. While this Cracker Barrel has historically been terrible, it seems management has made some major improvements since COVID!! Today they had indoor and outdoor seating with no wait and our waitress was very attentive. They also had another waitress refreshing coffee and drinks. Food was cooked well and tasted great. Enjoyed my grits and bacon!! My son enjoyed a yogurt parfait, biscuits and gravy, and grits with cheese! We even brought a muffin home for later! Coffee was fresh, hot, and delicious! read more

When you think "Cracker Barrel", you think "homestyle cooking". And this one does not disappoint. The setup is like 1940s Kansas. Corporate probably has buyers on their payroll going to flea markets and thrift stores in the Midwest finding items to put on the walls of their restaurants. And what you get is authentic country. They play old school country music too; no Florida Georgia Line here! This one, I wonder about how successful it is. Going west, Beaumont really ends at the freeway to Port Arthur. West of this freeway, there's a theater and a collection of restaurants that feels like an appendage to Spindletop City. It's not far to go at all, but that freeway is a psychological barrier, like "I'm going all the way out there?" We got here early, so there were few people at Cracker Barrel, but I do wonder how busy it gets. The food was good, though. We all had chicken: maple bacon chicken for me, chicken and dumplings for the Hunny, chicken strips for the girl. The chicken was moist, the bacon was cooked right, and I was surprised that the maple syrup actually went well with the grilled chicken. The others loved theirs too. The only problem was that the Hunny couldn't finish all of her meal, and she really wanted to. The total was a shade under $40. Service was good and prompt. Masks not required for employees, I'm uncomfortable seeing people having to wear those unhealthy things. The Hunny noticed, "She didn't write down our orders!" And she got it all right. Cokes were refilled without us even asking. Hopefully this restaurant lasts longer than my reviews; I'm finding many of mine being removed arbitrarily, and I'm not the only one (at least 3 wrote about the Vidor Walmart before I did, then a year ago I found that mine was listed as "first to review", and now mine is gone. Hmmmm). Maybe HQ in San Francisco is trying to keep us on our toes, or something about racial equity, or there's no real life east of the bay, I don't know. This visit was a disaster. We waited an hour for a table. The waitress seems to have some kind of memory issues.... The entire order was messed up. I told her it was wrong but she just said they had been doing this all day to her. She didnt try to rectify it. The kids wanted regular pancakes and they got ones with cereal in them. The mac n cheese was overcooked. My eggs were undercooked. Someone eggs turned out as scrambled eggs instead of fried. The tea came out as latte. She rambled a lot and said something about needing to shower because she had been at the beach. She never came back to check on us. Another waitress helped us by bringing the kids some fruit and was apologetic and took off some of the items from the bill. So we decided to be too Crackle Barrel today for dinner. The place wasn't to crowded so we were seated right away. Our server was Staci M and she was the the sweetest ever. We started with sweet tea and decided to order an appetizer called Loaded Hashbrown casserole Tots. They were so good. It was hashbrowns loaded with bacon pieces and melted cheese served with buttermilk ranch. Once we were done with that we were ready we were ready for our main course. I decided to order the Chicken Fried Chicken with a side of sawmill gravy with fried okra and Mac n cheese. My husband decided to get the grilled sirloin steak medium well with steak fries and green beans. The steak was cooked to perfection. Then came those delicious biscuits and cornbread muffins were yummy. By the time we left the place was filling up. Great food and excellent service. Thank you Staci M. We will be back. If I could give 0 stars I would. We just went for Wednesday lunch special and they did not have it because "someone forgot to order the Broccoli". They would not offer another chicken lunch portion because their POS system will not allow them to sell a lunch portion of their chicken dishes. I talked to manager and his attitude was basically "I don't care that you are unhappy and leaving". This is not our first bad experience. The roach crawling across the table 2 1/2 years ago was worse and we did not go back for over a year. Their score is now a 90 so we decided we would give it another try about a month ago. That time they served me a Broccoli Cheddar chicken with no chicken. They did bring me another with chicken that was cold in the middle. We have had more bad experiences at the Beaumont CB than we have had good. And anytime we have interacted with management their attitude is "this is the best we can do". Which is probably why it is so poorly run. I'm sure it is hard to work for a company that does not empower its managers because the managers always tell me that corporate won't allow anything that might make the customer happy. Went to the one in Beaumont, there May 23 for lunch. I had the meatloaf lunch special which was good, my mother had the chicken and dumplings which were TERRIBLE!!!! Worst I've ever had ! First, the good. The sweet tea was good, as was the bacon. That's the end of the good. Now the bad. I order two scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrown casserole and biscuits with gravy. Nothing I ordered had any flavor. No seasoning was used in the making of my food. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery, and the gravy tasted like they just mixed flour with some water. The hash brown casserole was OK but lacked any effort. The biscuits didn't have any taste. I've had canned biscuits that were more flavorful. However, mine was at least edible when compared to my wifes. She ordered the roast beef, and that was a huge mistake. What was once a delicious meal is now a reheated presliced block of meat. The roast did not taste like it was slow roasted for 14 hours, and it dang sure wasn't fork tender. Three people at our table ordered the roast beef, and every slice was identical. This tells me the roast beef isn't cooked onsite but at a factory, then it's sliced and frozen before being sent to the restaurant which will then put the beef in a pot of gravy to be reheated. I would compare it to a frozen tv dinner but I've had some pretty good roast beef tv dinners. Cracker Barrel has clearly cut cost and their food quality has gone downhill. This is the worst Cracker Barrel I have ever been to. I was in my 12th straight day of working 10-12 hours a day and I just wanted a hot meal. 1. Hostess had my silverware and menu under her arm and armpit while she hurriedly cleaned my table 2. Had to request butter and a straw twice. 3. Waitress put my butter onto my biscuit plate with her bare hands after I saw her clearing dishes off a dirty table with her bare hands. 4. Ordered the house salad upgrade and the croutons were squishy. The majority of the lettuce was romaine cores. And the salad came with my hot food. 5. Never received any salt and pepper or iced tea refill. 6. The biscuit was like a flat, cold hockey puck. 7. Waitresses asked if I needed anything while walking away. 8. With all of this, what is the point of wearing a mask? Which I faithfully do! 9. Kudos to the cook because the fish and sweet potato kept me from giving this place 0 stars. I've been here a good amount of times and it's a hit or miss. I have yet to come where I didn't have to wait. There are a couple of awesome servers who go above & beyond (typically the older ones), then you have the young, most likely college aged employees who just do the bare minimum. We came for breakfast this past weekend and literally stood at the hostess desk (looking at the hostess' (2+1 waitress)) for about 30 seconds before the waitress asked the hosts if they were going to assist us or just let us stand waiting. Cracker Barrel's cool because if you have to wait, there's so much to look at inside in their shop. Food wise - I haven't had anything bad here. The food is good especially for the price that your paying for it but the service was horrible. I ordered to go and waited 1 hour 20 minutes for my food and only to receive something that I didn't order.. I've tried 3 different times with this location and every time the wait for to go orders is insane! If you make a person wait that long maybe comp the order or at least provide water while they wait.. Worst Cracker Barrel I've ever eaten at and I've been to probably 50+ in various states. The wait was very long in the middle of a Monday which was odd and the staff was unequipped to deal with the amount of people. We waited for approximately 20 minutes and then finally we were seated and greeted 10 minutes later by the most unenthusiastic waitress I've ever met. I can look past a rude waitress as long as we have what we need and the food is good. Neither was the case. The biscuits brought to us beforehand were soft and fluffy and she did include extra butter and jam so 10 points for that. This is where the good experience ended. I decided on the fried chicken combo with turnip greens and a side of macaroni and cheese and my husband had the country boy breakfast. My chicken was not fried chicken but was instead two heavily breaded chicken nuggets that were cold on the inside. The macaroni and cheese was not fresh and the pasta was hard as a rock. The turnip greens (which are usually my favorite) smelled so putrid that I couldn't touch them. There were slimy pieces of bacon fat mixed in which made them extra undesirable. My husband's eggs were not over medium but were borderline raw. We had to wait another 15 minutes for our waitress to bring us the check and by that time, I was just excited to get away from the rotten turnip greens. Horrible. En route to Lake Charles, we decided to stop by here for lunch. I have never been to a Cracker Barrel before so I was eager to see what this is all about. For a Sunday afternoon, they were pretty busy and we had to wait about 20+ minutes for our table. While you wait, you can browse around in their little store. The staff members were all very friendly but it did seem that they were a little understaffed on the restaurant side. Our server was friendly and tried to check on us whenever she had a quick minute.
