For Sunday dinner today, we went to Hubby's favorite -- Luby's Cafeteria in Beaumont -- and what a top-tier experience we had! From the moment we walked in until the time we left, we were greeted with warm welcomes and smiles. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Our waitress, Victoria, was absolutely superb! My husband mentioned he was craving some cornbread dressing but didn't see any. Victoria said she wasn't sure if they had any, but a few minutes later, she returned with a serving -- and when he tried to pay, she said it was on her! How sweet is that? Of course, Mr. Brown tipped her well. We both ordered the chopped cheese steak, which was large, juicy, and delicious. We each chose different sides, and everything was cooked to perfection. It was a great lunch and an even better experience. If you haven't been to Luby's lately, it comes highly recommended! Also, $8.48 (25%)was our discount because my husband is a veterans. We had a nice lunch on a Friday. I had the Luann plate for 8.99-which is choice of meat, 2 sides & a roll. We all had the cheese steak which is a chopped beef patty topped with cheese & bacon bits- very good. Everything was fresh. We enjoyed the whole meal. Service was good. I was traveling through Beaumont and decided to stop for the night. I saw the Luby's sign and decided to get some dinner. It was good, not as great as I remembered it was in San Antonio. I had the fish, mac & cheese, loaded mashed potatoes, salad, and beet salad. I also had the cream cheese jalapeños. I didn't like the beets at all, they have a spice that I don't like, I couldn't tell what it was but I didn't eat them. The mac & cheese were decent, the fish too. The potatoes were a little dry, I wish I would have got the mashed potatoes and gravy instead. I did end up taking the leftovers to my room and finishing it all. I'd go back. read more

Okay, so on a whim we went to Lubys yesterday. I got fish cornbread dressing and great northern beans and a piece of Mexican cornbread. Amazing! Best Lubys in awhile. My bff got fish, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and she said hers was awesome as well. We will definitely be back. read more

Took my daughter here today for Easter dinner.. I knew I should have went to Cheddars. This place is the worse. Cold dry fish, the line person gave us smaller scoops and everyone else around us got bigger scoops of portions. The cashier was rude and shrugged her shoulder when I pointed it out due to the fact I just spent 21.56 for what looked like kids plates. I'll never make this mistake again by coming here. Been coming here to this location since 1997.. in the past 2 year it was gone down... Today finally did it for me. I remember when they had "cart attendance" for your needs during the visit.. now you get people who call themselves "servers" ( they don't take your order or bring your food.) . 11/17/19 Sunday On multiple occasions we have ordered several meals for our crew at the hospital in Beaumont, Tx. Upon ordering the person taking the orders was very rude and quick to have me hurry and give her the orders. She would not let me finish giving her the instructions with the order. When I went to pick up the orders the lady was very rude saying we can not pay separately because our orders are too big and takes up too much of their time. We realize it was probably a busy time of the day, but as I see it this pays their salary. This is not the first time we have had a problem with this establishment. We enjoy your type of food and would like to continue to order, but we refuse to be treated this way. The lady who took my order was the manager; if her attitude was unkind than I guess that's what we should expect from her employee, unfriendly, unkindly and rude. Very disappointed read more

Four old friends met for late lunch as a 'compromise'. MANY food options at Luby's cafeteria, ALL of our choices got a THUMBS UP ! 'Exceeded expections' was a comment made by ALL present. This is NOT gourmet food. NOT haute cuisine, but good comfort food served without 'airs and graces'. My fried chicken was moist and tasty and ALL my green sides were very good, as was my bottomless unsweetened ice tea. We all chose a LUANNE special which includes beverage and sides and prices were FAIR. BIG portions, good cookin', value, friendly efficient service = 4 star and yay I'm a fan after my 1st visit to any Luby's and I understand they have 100's of stores around Texas. Two of my coworkers and HIGH ordered meals from Lubys. One of my coworkers went to pick them up for us. When she got there, she paid for all three meals, and got all the way back here and discovered that in my meal they had neglected to put the entrée which was liver and onions. I had also ordered mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli. they did not give me broccoli. They gave me what I think to be Colliflower with some kind of cheese on it. By the way, I do not like cauliflower. So my coworker went back to Lubys to pick up the liver and onions. When she got back, everything was stone cold. Since all of our food was wrong, I called Lubys and told them everything that was wrong and that I wanted a full refund. The manager said I could bring it back and get a full refund. I said to her look, we are working, my coworker has already made two trips there. Why don't you come and get it? She said I've already told you what you can do. She was very rude and unprofessional and all three of us were just disgusted by the food. The liver was so stretchy. It was like elastic. I tried to cut it and couldn't even cut it with a knife. It's an edible. I gave her one star review since there are no zeros. read more

We eat here often, as it is one of the few places you can get vegetables and/or salad, and smaller portions. -1Star for A/C not working right - it does not remove the humidity. -1Star for smell. Broke a/c equals smelly musty restaurant. read more

This was our first time at Lubys and we were confused about the prices and such but there was a man there who helped us navigate and choose our meals. My food was a little cold but they offered to replace it or heat it and it was delicious. The servers were very helpful and friendly and I liked how they helped the Sr. Citizens with their trays and seating. The building was clean and welcoming and the prices are really good. We went back a day later and ate again. I got the chicken fried chicken and it was awesome, I also really enjoyed the green beans. read more

Food is always consistently good. However the service sucks. We had to flag someone down to get our fried fish. Afterwards NO ONE came to our table not ONCE!!! We had to bag all of our to go stuff ourselves. That includes getting the containers and bags. Had to refill our own drinks on the way out as well. I tend to frequent Luby's whenever I don't feel like a noisy atmosphere...the food tends to suck. This Luby's seems to be independently own because the food is so much better than others. As a matter of fact, the Luby's in Baytown should send their cooks to the beaumont location for training. I give them 3 stars for the food and 1for the service or lack thereof. I don't remember ever giving a restaurant 5 stars. I can always find something not satisfying enough to keep them from that fifth star. Not so with Luby's Cafeteria.. nothing is not good about this place. My wife's exact quote is "surprisingly underestimated." All of the food from the huge selection of different salads(I love the carrot salad)... to the hot entree are wonderfully fresh and tasty. Luby's has the absolute BEST liver and onions in the area. It would convert people who hate liver. I always get extra onions with a big fresh jalapeño pepper. The liver itself is thin sliced and covered in gravy. You cannot miss on anything you choose. The hot entrees are continuously kept fresh and hot by managers bringing more in from the kitchen. I must tell you, I run past the deserts. They just look too good and dangerous if you know what I mean... strawberry pie, cakes, cheesecake... oh my! The servers are always friendly and helpful, giving you plates made to your own order. The location here in Beaumont is always clean and the prices?? Well for a big salad, generous portion of liver and onions, corn casserole, buttered squash and iced tea... around $12 to $15 bucks and well worth it. The pico de Gallo is a must and I always pile it on from the help-yourself condiments area before I sit down. Servers continuous walk around the dining area, eager to assist in any way they can (like bringing me more pico de Gallo). FIVE STARS and well deserved. Luby's Cafeteria never disappoints! Poor service, food was mediocre at best. You reach the end of line and have to cross over with your tray to pay, what's that about when there is a register on the same side. The place has a dirty grungy feel to it. The only reason I go is because it is the only cafeteria in Beaumont. read more

It's cafeteria style food. Not a whole lot to say about it. Luby's is a Texas institution, but for the life of me I can't figure out why. We came here because we wanted something nearby that wasn't a hamburger, so maybe that's the draw. The food is ok. The price is about right for what you get. The staff was friendly enough and while they themselves were quick, it took a while to get our food due to the two little old indecisive women in front of us. Elderly people made up a large chunk of the clientele, and we only saw one or two other business people there for their lunch break. Steamed okra, macaroni and cheese tastes really good. Cabbage is also good. I love the baked almondine, and their desserts are good. The food has a good home-cooked taste. Nothing like a "cafeteria" style and definitely not like a nursing home. I'm a nurse and I can definitely say that isn't true. Poor service and poor taste of food. If you'd like to wait an hour to have the equivalent of nursing home food this is your place!
