Ok, I am not very picky when it comes to restaurants, but this place is horrible. I ordered chicken and dumplings. Dumpling aren't supposed to squelch when you bite them! They were like long, thick strips of pasta! The chicken was good but barely any was put in. I shared biscuits and Mac and cheese with my mom and sister. The biscuits were mediocre and the Mac and cheese was bland. My sister ordered chicken strips. Now, you would think that you can't mess up chicken strips, but we were mistaken! The service was not very good. The waitress barely smiled at us. The only good thing I can say is that the gift shop was good. The ambiance was fine. I think everyone pretty much knows what the Cracker Barrel's ambiance is. Overall, I don't recommend!! read more

Five star preview review for the crew at this location. I put in an advance order this afternoon for food tonight... turns out it was way in advance. I got the day wrong on the app and that's my bad. The manager and entire staff offered to cook the meal on the spot, 15 minutes before closing, which doesn't happen in other restaurants/towns. I already know their chicken is delicious and am looking forward to tomorrow night. This has nothing to do with their logo drama or any of that static. My dinner was special tonight... The highlight however was not the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, nor the quirky gift shop. No... the highlight of my dinner tonight was my server, Andrew. He was single handedly the only thing that has mattered about my life until this moment. In fact, the hope of going on at all wasnt even a consideration for me. But meeting Andrew changed all that. His simple smile, the kindness in the way he said, "what do YOU want?", and the way I could tell his apron hadn't been cleaned nor ironed in the last 4 months made me feel like I wasnt the only person who felt the way I did. But then that feeling left me. As I looked into Andrew's cold eyes, I could tell that they too had been fading. The light that once must have shown brightly across his welcoming face, was dying... and perhaps he too with it. I could feel just in the few moments that I was with him that these would possibly be his last moments... here at the 'Barrel. The 'Barrel had brutalized and drained this poor soul of all desire to carry on. The strange salad bar side work, the grotesque tea cleanings, the microwave radiation, and endless, Oh How Endless WHITE GRAVY TRIBULATIONS must have drove him to his end. Tonight was his end. His final moments. As I crammed what I could of my pancakes and crafted coffee down my grateful gullet, I wished that Andrew's soul would be released.... The food is not good, service is terrible. The eggs taste like plastic, the sausage is not actual sausage definitely some beyond meat. Biscuits and gravy came in a basket, the gravy tastes like day old bacon with some plastic melted into it... Had to ask multiple times for silverware, straws and condiments. So place was half empty was told 25 minutes to wait due to not having enough servers and no busing staff. I waited and it was around 10 minutes. All staff were friendly and fod come out in its normal time. One could hear lots of words being exchanged from the back between kitchen staff and servers. We were seated quickly by a friendly hostess. Our server was Kitawna L. She was fabulous. Professional yet sociable and friendly. All of the food was cooked to perfection and we never felt rushed even though it was a busy time for them. The bathroom was very clean. 10/06/21 My husband spotted Denny's down the street but I missed the turn and as I was getting ready to make a u-turn, I spotted Cracker Barrel. I convinced him to eat here, instead. No regrets. It would be our very first experience and I've got to say that we were so impressed. Terry waited on us. He was as good as they get, in the restaurant industry. We were seated right away and although our food took awhile to be served, we weren't in a hurry and in fact enjoyed the extra time to just sip on our coffee and take in the beauty of this restaurant. It was about 12 noon and I ordered lunch and my Husband breakfast. Well, you can't really mess up pancakes and eggs so no problem with that. I ordered the Pot Roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. This has been long coming as we had walked out of Dixie's Diner a few nights ago in Idaho. LOL! This was what I craved then and still hadn't gotten over it. The order was ready on time but incomplete. We ordered a country fried steak plate with turnip greens, fried okra and pinto beans and a 4 veggie plate with a loaded baked potato, fried okra, turnip greens and mac n cheese. Both plates were supposed to include biscuits. So the turnip greens were ok, a little too smoky. The country fried steak was ok. The fried okra was good as were the pinto beans. The Mac n cheese was awesome, probably the best thing of all. But we didn't get ANY biscuits! Of course we didn't discover that until we got the order back to our hotel. read more

We actually make it a habit of stopping to in to the local Cracker Barrel in every town we visit when traveling. The restaurant is consistent. We've never really had a bad meal. Typical chain restaurant, but we know that it's consistent. Not much of a wait and service was about average. We usually ask for the biscuits ahead of time and didn't even make it through a whole biscuit before the meal came. I got the shrimp with mac n'cheese and fried apples (an interesting palette combination), and my dad got the country fried chicken, house salad, green beans, and mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was so good that I kept dipping my shrimp in it. (The shrimp meal actually comes with 3 sides, but that would've been too much and I'm glad I got just the two. Thought we still had been charged for the 3 sides, but the price was reflected correctly). The store had everything from squirrel statues to Christmas to Montana Grizzlies fleece. read more

My family and I have made this a consistent stop when visiting Billings and are disappointed to say this will no longer be the case. When entering in the store, my husband was blocked by a staff member pushing an inventory cart as we made our way to the hostess station and treated very rudely. No comments were made (eg excuse me, etc.) just dirty looks and impatient body behavior. When we finally reach the hostess station, we greet her with a "Hi, how are you doing?" and instead of getting a response she looks up at us in silence and says to us just say Hi, not how are you doing with major attitude. As we stand there dumbfounded, she then proceeds to tell us it will be a 20 minute wait because there's plenty of tables but not enough cooks. So instead of sitting us - she'd rather we stand and wait. Needless to say, we left and probably won't be returning to one of our previous favorite destinations ever again here in Billings. #plentyofattitudenotenoughcustomers read more

Thank Gawd for Cracker Barrel... Fun Fact #1: They're open on Thanksgiving! Fun Fact #2: But there is a 2.5 hour wait if you wanted a table on Thanksgiving... My colleagues and I flew into Billings on Thanksgiving Day for "business". Not much is open, and Denny's is just gross. Luckily the bosses had called into Cracker Barrel a few days in advance to order up a ginormous buffet of turkey, ham, stuffing, mash potatoes, cornbread, biscuits, veggies, and bunch of other stuff. Though it took some time to get it from the restaurant to the hotel, they packed the food in such a way that it was still very hot and tasty upon arrival. Our server was the best! She was prompt to help us and went above and beyond what was expected of her, all with a smile! The food was served quickly and hot and tasted great. The store had a great atmosphere and was fun to wander around. All of this was as it was close to closing time, and despite our offers to just get it to go, they insisted that it wasn't an issue to serve us. We ordered 3 to go Thanks Giving Feast meals. It was not a last minute order and was placed 24 hrs in advance. Picking the meals up was the start - you had to drive up to the back of the restaurant where the dumpsters and garbage cans are to pick up the to go order. Disgusting. Upon arriving home with our 3 meals the first thing I noticed is that there was no Pumpkin Pie. So I called the manager about it. She stated we ran out and there are no substitutions so you are out of luck. Since when if a restaurant runs out of something you already paid for you don't replace it with something else or offer a discount on the meal?? I opened up our meals and there was only 1 slice of turkey in our meals. The sweet potatoes were runny and tasteless , green beans tasted like canned beans and the stuffing was soggy and tasteless. The rolls must have been sitting for days as they fell apart like croutons . The cranberry sauce was in a plastic condiment holder which could not fill a thimble. It made a good meal for my dogs as I refused to eat it, except for the 1 slice of Turkey.. Which was about a 1/2 slice of the Costco turkey lunchmeat .. Costco tasted better... We won't be back ever! Never ate dinner at a Cracker Barrel, usually a breakfast stop... So this was new for me. The hostess was friendly and sat me fast, and the waitress, even though the place was packed, was there just as fast to get my drink order. I got the chicken fried steak dinner, (I think they called it a country fried steak), with mashed, baby carrots and cheese grits. My dinner was great, everything from the chopped steak, potatoes and carrots tasted fresh and was hot. The cheese grits.... Amazing! An outstanding dinner for about $10. read more
