Good Ole' Cracker Barrel. Lunchtime for me and kiddo. Good country music with good service was my type of lunch hour. Plenty of seating. Not too crowded which was a plus! Sweet waitress named Reigan served us well and graciously. Very graceful and attentive. We ordered the New Shrimp and sausage grit skillet and grilled cheese sandwich with fries for the kiddo. Everything was okay. Skillet was interesting with flavorful tastes, grits a little undercooked and Shrimps were nice size for a mouthful, could have used more sausage but other than that It was pretty decent. On the road today and my wife and I stopped in for lunch at this Cracker Barrel location. It's not really our habit to rate highway chains, but in this case it's called for. This is our first Cracker Barrel stop since the chain began refocusing its image with a slightly more contemporary ambiance and refocused menu options, and now that I've seen it I think it may work well. Still great breakfast choices and down home lunch/dinner combos, but now arranged I believe in an even more appealing package. Check it out! Came to Cracker Barrel today (05/10/2026) and was told they had a 25-30 minute wait. Which was fine until we had been waiting for closer to 50 minutes, we proceeded to ask the hostess how much longer and was told we were forgotten about. Ended up being seated shortly afterwards. Our waitress (Trish? Trisha?) greeted us and grabbed our drink order and told us she would be back shortly which she was. We did not wait for drinks long at all. She brought our drinks back and we told her we were ready to order. She told us she would be right back to get our orders, we assumed she had to take the drink tray back or check on her other tickets. We waited 15 minutes for her to return to take our orders. We're not sure if she was hard of hearing or if she thought we were but she was basically yelling at our whole table right in my ear the entire time. After we placed our orders we did NOT see her again for over an HOUR!!!! She never came to check in, she never came to refill our drinks NOTHING! We ended up having to find other waiters and waitresses to ask for things we needed. She then brings most of the food while forgetting an entire order, brought a plate FULL of biscuits with ONE bowl of gravy, and didn't bring some sides that were ordered. At one point while we were telling her what we still needed she just turned around and walked away, I will admit we were extremely frustrated and hangry but all remained calm and respectful. This was hands down the WORST experience I have ever had at a Cracker Barrel, at one point we were also told there was one ticket ahead of us and then she turned around and 10 minutes later told us there were three tickets ahead of us. Very unprofessional, passive aggressive, and an utterly horrible experience. We will never return and I suggest no one wasting their time here. Went in Saturday Early Evening No wait seating slightly over 1/2 tables occupied. Ordered drinks 1/2 arrived with issues . cold coffee and requested water with lemon forgot lemon other two ok. Ordered 2 steak and shrimp dinners plus other meal and childs dinner. Meals come out no steak sauce or knifes and one of dinners lukewarm at best and hash brown casserole looks like assembled but only in oven couple minutes, potatoes still look like uncooked hash browns with shredded cheese mixed in not warm or browned, also missing one side. Wait staff apologies and leaves proceeded to take another tables order before getting knifes steak sauce or missing side. Returns five minutes later with steak sauce still no steak knifes or missing side. Asked if we needed anything else, told just knifes and missing side (fries). Leaves again comes back again quite some time later with plate of french fries, still no knife for steak that wouldn't cut with butter knife on table .Told him to just take dinner back since went from warm to cold, still no knife. Comes back good 15 to twenty minutes later and proceeded to tell me new steak dinner was ordeed and would be ready in short time. So I said just to just cancel mine. Get my Bill my steak removed but coffee still on bill. I let wife pay bill since probably didn't want to here my answer when asked how was meal. This is the worst Crack Barrel I've ever been to. The service was awful. It took 15 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us. Once she took our order the food took over an hour. This was a Friday night but it wasn't busy. We ordered a fried chicken salad and a grilled chicken dinner. I ordered a garden salad as a side and it came out with the meal. At every other Cracker Barrel it's came out before. When she brought out the corn bread and biscuit there was one of each and no butter. We come to Bourbonnais for our kids sporting events a couple of times each year and we will never come back to this Cracker Barrel location. read more

The health inspection noted on this site is only as recent as 2024. What about the most recent that closed the restaurant down? This store specifically, increased prices and decreased quality. As a chain, the early years you found scratch cooking. Now, it seems so much is heated from the microwave. They seemed to have followed Olive Garden. I was surprised that I was dissatisfied with my take out meal. I typically eat in the restaurant and have always enjoyed my meal. The best part of my take out dinner was the mashed potatoes. There is no better word than NASTY to describe my country fried steak. Will never order it again. I am certain that being served right out of the kitchen would Improve it as it would be crisp as opposed to steamed and soggy from the take out container but the flavor was off as well. The server was right quick with refilling my lemonade. He wasn't particularly friendly but was certainly efficient. The manager stopped at each table and asked how things were. I'm writing this review from my fiancés account cause it was his first time ever going to Cracker Barrel so decided to just treat him out and he loved it he had the steak and shrimp with a baked potato and I had the grandma sampler with strawberry syrup and our waitress I didn't get her name she was very nice as well she had black knotless braids I tipped her for her good customer service our meals together totaled to $45 so it isn't expensive for couples who want a nice meal but please yall CLEAN YOUR TABLES!!! I don't understand what has happened at this location. It used to be one of the best run Cracker Barrel's in the area. sadly, this is no longer the case. On my last visit I was seated right away, but then I waited. and waited. And waited. Aaaaand waited. After 15 minutes, I got up and left. As soon as I saw the sign off the highway, I knew this would be a great way to console me. Concerned with the impending snarl up I-57 North I ordered take-out, and was greeted by a very pleasant host, with an enthusiastic and helpful personality. My choice was the chicken n' dumplings. It is a piping-hot rich and satisfying entree with plump lumps of dough, and delicious chucks of chicken breast that is slow simmered in Cracker Barrel's own chicken stock. I complimented my meal with two side choices: yummy mac n' cheese & scrumptious fried okra. My favorite tasty corn muffins were included. I took a rest on the rocking chairs on the porch while my meal was prepared, feeling a bit nostalgic I thought of sitting out on the porch of the main house of the farm where I grew up. We arrived at 11:30 to our seat. To our surprise, there was quite a few tables with food left on it from previous customers. The staff was very slow moving, and seemed like there was no urgency in service. The waitress we had was not even quick to offer refills on coffee or water. I know some restaurants are short staffed, so I took a walk around and there was plenty of people in the kitchen, including several waitresses. We ordered our food, and it arrived an hour later. I would understand why theres a long wait if there wasn't any servers, but that wasn't the case. It just seemed like there was no actual work ethics at this location. There was no communication on even why everything took so long. I made a comment when paying, about the slow service, but their response was that it was busy (which wasn't really the case). Up until a few months ago, I thought this was just the place where grandparents went to socialize with other people their age. I had no idea how great the food was until my dad asked us to go to breakfast as a family and my mind was blown. I'm glad I discovered it because it's become my favorite breakfast spot and I'm officially a regular. I haven't tried their lunch or dinner menus yet, only their breakfast menu. My favorite meal is the Country Boy breakfast. It has a steak, hashbrown casserole, apples and eggs. The first time I got it, I assumed it would be rubbery or low quality and my expectations were low. BUT The steak is always so juicy & melt-in-your-mouth tender. However, I've ordered it medium well, and they still undercook it. I still eat it though.and love every bite of it. The servers are always so friendly and if you tell them what you want, they'll tell you the cheapest way to order it. I love that they're not just trying to take all of your money. The store is fun to peruse while you wait and oh, yes if you come on the weekends, there WILL be a wait. They have lots of Burts Bees products and Yankee candles and other fun stuff that you like but don't really need. This was an unpleasant experience. It took 45 min to be seated and over an hour and 1/2 to get our food. Our waitress delivered our drinks, took our order and was MIA the entire wait time. I finally had to go to the hostess station to ask for a manager who assured us our food would be out shortly. 20 additional minutes, hypoglycemic moments, and a very cranky 2 year old later most of our food came out (1 person had to wait 10 more minutes while we ate). We all understood that in todays market staff was probably limited and that it might be a little longer but this was ridiculous! We were given a discount on our ticket only after insisting and tracking the manager down. We will not be returning to this Location, we were there over 2 1/2 hours. Great place to stop while on a road trip. Cracker Barrel offers hearty meals for a reasonable price. Occasionally, the food does not arrive warm if you are ordering with a large group of people. Cracker Barrel also allows campers to park overnight in the back parking lot. The parking lot seems secure and has cameras in the back, but be prepared to wake up early to the sounds of garbage trucks and delivery trucks. read more

Was a horrible experience. We went with a party of 12 talking my father in law out for dinner from the local VA nursing home. They told us 30 minutes we said that was fine. About 45 minutes go by and we hear a family of 10 called to be seated then they call someone from our party to come up to the hostess. We go up there and they told us now that they can't seat more then 6 people per table and will have to do 2 tables. Fyi the party of 10 showed up after us. We were trying to talk to them and then they just walked away from us and wouldn't talk to us after we said well how were you able to seat that family of 10 that came after us.
