Ignored and Disrespected -- A Terrible Experience My mother and daughter visited this IHOP location in Bourbonnais, IL today around 12:30 PM hoping for a nice lunch. Unfortunately, they were completely ignored from the moment they sat down. After waiting about 10 minutes, my mother went to the restroom. When she returned, she asked my daughter if anyone had come to the table -- no one had. They waited another 10 minutes after that. Still, not a single employee approached them. No water, no menus, no acknowledgment -- absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, other tables were being served around them. The lack of service, the blatant disregard, and the feeling of being unwelcome can't be chalked up to a "busy shift." It felt discriminatory. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. No one should be made to feel invisible when they're simply trying to enjoy a meal. IHOP needs to address this location's standards -- or lack thereof -- immediately. read more

We drove over an hour to get to the IHOP here because I have several significant dietary restrictions and I LOVE their yummy gluten free pancakes. However, they did not have gf pancakes even though they are on the menu because the manager thinks the batter is too expensive. The server was very apologetic, but that left me with very little to choose from because they also had no gluten free bread, and I'm also dairy free and can't eat most fruits. Came to this location 3-1-25 at about 1:30pm didn't get seated until 1:40pm samariah y was our server, didn't get food until 2:30. Food was 4-5/10 at best, only one refill got filled the entire time, no silverware until asked for. Didn't get any attention even when blatantly trying. Horrible Service. Came in at 7pm on a Tuesday night. We were a party of eight but the place was dead. It seemed like there were 2-3 people working tops. We got seated fairly quickly but then waited 8-10 minutes before a server showed up. No greeting, no nothing just "are you ready to order" likely she had been waiting on us to be ready. We ordered our drinks and food. She read the order back and it was correct. A few minutes later she came back and confirmed the order again. Then a few minutes later she game back and asked what our drinks were again. About another 5 minutes pass and our drinks arrived. My husband had to ask for creamer for his coffee twice and it never came. I had ordered water, and reconfirmed both times she asked but was given a sweet tea. When our food finally came out it was right but some of the orders were given to to the wrong folks and we had to switch it around. When we started to dig in two of the forks at the table we're very badly damaged and not useable.. I'm talking like one of the prongs sticking up significantly not useable. We asked for new forms. Those never came either. When we finally got the check the free kids meals had not been adjusted correctly and we had to remind them to adjust it. During our the time there we heard the table next to us have trouble with their order and a gentleman a few tables down got up to get his own maple syrup at the front because he had asked for it a few times and it never came. I really enjoyed eating here this morning. The staff was very polite and met our every need. Our drinks were out immediately and food was to the table within 7 minutes. The food was delicious. The manager definitely sets the tone and gives her staff her expectations. I'd definitely come again. read more

I use to come here in my younger days, we should have know better when we saw a total of 3 cars in the parking lot at noon, during Mother's Day weekend. The host sat us almost immediately and was very friendly. Everyone seemed to be working hard but there was food settings leftover at at least 7 tables with only one party remaining. After reading some of the review of 75 minutes for a burger, we decided it wasn't worth the gamble. read more

This place is an absolute joke! You walk in and barely recognized to be seated. When you are seated, plan on being there for at least 10-15 minutes before you even get any drinks. Oh, the staff...I'm not sure if they're all new or just clueless as to properly serve customers. This IHOP's reputation for mediocre service is well-earned. Add to that the bucket for the leaky roof that somehow never gets fixed and you have an experience that indicates's the company's undercover inspectors never come here. Edit to add: We finally gave up and walked out stopping at the register to pay for our two drinks. The host woman apologized and said something about only one cook on duty. Maybe we would have had some sympathy if our server had checked back with us a few times to explain the situation. But we never saw him again after he brought the two soft drinks. If he had, we would have told him that one of the drinks was defective. Instead my friend flagged down the host who said she would check on it. But she never returned. So while waiting for our change (this place is pay-server so we had to wait for him to bring out our change) my friend inquired about the drink. Host said she'd fixed it. Yet she never brought out a replacement. Frankly she should have comped us on the drinks especially knowing full well that one was defective. These are two incompetents that don't need to be working there. Also, just for the record when we bailed another couple behind us did the same thing, waiting behind us to pay for their drinks. And why is the place so bitterly cold? I'd avoid it for that reason alone. This visit took place early evening on 8/9/19. I've added a photo of the rain bucket. It was there a month earlier. So sorry to give this review, we can in around 2:30 on Saturday (10/20/18). The hash browns had to of been left over from the morning, the were almost clear then crispy, no flavor and too much crunch just like a potato chip. Certainly not what a hash brown should be like. We ordered our eggs over medium because we don't like the white to be running out in the plate when we cut into the. The yolks were hard and the whites had a lace crystal sheen as if cooked at too high of heat quickly although to long because the yolks were hard, all 4 of them. I sat through the second half of the meal with nothing to drink yet 3 different servers and a manager walked by but couldn't ask if I needed a refill even though it was out on the edge of the table. More okay food for okay prices, though this location has really declined over the years in my opinion. A clearly overworked staff and the place is crumbling apart from the inside, not to mention the food has gotten much, much worse. Chicken and waffles used to be very good but the most recent time I had them they were both burnt to a near crisp. Pancakes are always good, but hash browns are saturated in butter and sausages are never good. Eggs are consistently meh, but if you're going there for pancakes you really can't go wrong. Wish I would have read the reviews first. Just got home from here, worst IHOP I've ever eaten at. Food was pretty good, but it took 45 mins to get it. Restaurant was about 1/3 occupied. Our poor waitress look like she was trying not to cry. Heard a lot of yelling, swearing and banging coming from the kitchen, so obviously they were struggling. Clearly terrible management. Ham 2 of 10. Cold and greasy. Hash Browns 1 of 10. Not sure what the taste was, but it seemed they soaked the potatoes in the dish water before serving. Toast 1 of 10. They don't have a toaster? Long back on my first visit to USA (in 2006) I had gone to this restaurent and found the food really good and tasty. After 10 year my second visit to ihop and it was ok. I dont think so they have become bad its just that it was my first brush with fast food and now it does not stand out. The meal i ordered was onion ring and french toast both were strictly ok. I am that guy that believe in great customer service for the consumer's dollar!! So I went into the IHOP in Bourbonnais with a group of buddies and I really didn't know what to expect (as we go out every Friday after our game). We usually go to another restaurant in the area because it was one of my buddies favorite. Well we went into the IHOP and was greeted by a warm smile and was pleasantly seated by the greeter... all 10 of us. Our drinks came out within minutes and the waiter was so professional, friendly and just made all of us look at each other asking are we in IHOP or a restaurant in downtown Chicago... lol. He wasn't only inviting but knew the answer to all my crazy buddies questions about the menu. So the food came and OMG everything was hot and delicious! Our conversation turned from talking about the game to how great this experience was on a simple dining night out! The guys who greeted and served us name was Justin and he was above and beyond the service my spouse and I get at the high-end restaurants downtown Chicago. I highly recommend this place if you're in Bourbonnais and thinking about dining (even for a steak which is what I had). Go to IHOP! You'll thank me later!!! Very disorganized. There is no hostess to seat, no cashier to take payments. It's a free for all; if someone notices you waiting they might help you out if they are feeling productive. Otherwise, you'll have to do a lot of waiting. I saw maybe 10-11 open tables, but there was a line of people waiting out the door. I overheard a waitress answer the phone saying it's about 45 min wait. First of all, we should have exited upon our initial interaction with the hostess. "Lupe's" lack of professionalism had my teenage son and I shocked. Lupe, without making eye contact told us to sit down. I saw several open tables so I had asked (what I guessed as a dumb question), how long was the wait? Lupe literally rolled her eyes and said "how do I know". The look of shock must have shown on my face because she then said "10 minutes but who knows". My son and I had just attended the Chicago Bears Training camp held at ONU. We were hungry and didn't want to search for another restaurant so we opted to stay. Big mistake. During our wait for a table we recided to view the menu. When we finally got a table (about 10 minutes) we knew exactly what we wanted and therefore placed our order immediately. We ordered simple off the menu an order of banana/Nutella crepes and an order of Florentine chicken crepes minus tomato. 30 minutes later we still had not recieved our brunch. When asked about it the waitress says it's because I ordered chicken. What??? It's make with precooked chicken breast.... not a rotisserie...made to order chicken. 5 minutes later my teenage sons banana crepes come out but not mine!!! My son was done eating and was sitting bord and ready to leave before mine came out - another 10 minutes later. A total of 45 minutes to bring a regular menu item out. Not only that, but it had EXTRA tomatoes on it even after a full conversation with the waitress about my despise of tomatoes. The waitresses Response with a shrug of the shoulders and what do you want me to do about it in an unpleasant manner. At that point I could not afford to wait another 45 minutes or deal with the fear of what might happen in my food behind the scenes. Therefore reluctantly I picked off the tomatoes and partially eat my food due to lack Of appetite due to disgust at that point. It doesn't end here and it doesn't get any better. We attempt to pay for our food so that we could leave. However, with only one register and "Lupe" now handling that too... we spent the next 20 minutes trying to leave. Nearly begging the hostess to cash us out. "Please can you let us pay so we can leave". Had I not been an upstanding citizen I would've walked out without paying. This, honestly, and without hesitation was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The lack of concern, professionalism, care of their patrons have deffinately placed this IHOP on my NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS, even if the last restaurant on earth, would I return!!!! read more

The only reason I am giving this place 1 star is because of the server. We had to wait over an hour for our food, and then when we had to pay there is no hostess so we once again had to wait for the server to take our pay. I don't know who thought this change was good but it's ridiculous, we will not be coming back! read more

I'm not one to judge by the way someone looks but obviously she hates her job at ihop and it shows I don't care how many tattoos you have or about what u look like but you girls at ihop have got to understand if u hate your job so much don't do customer service- also my food was nasty and freezer burnt stuffed French toast that was stale and nasty. So not worth the wait or the rude staff. Like I said our young black waiter was nice but the females in that restaurant were so mean to me when I took my kids there. Let me start this off by saying, it's IHOP. The food isn't going to change your life and it's not supposed to. With that being said, I received the best service of my life while stopping in here on my way to Chicago from Champaign. I was immediately seated, asked for my beverage and it came out as quickly as I was seated. I was treated warm and kindly by my server and my food was brought out quickly. Really decent food for a reasonable price, but the real star was my server. Though I probably won't be back, if a weird road trip takes me by again, I will for sure stop in here instead of Denny's. read more
