Stopped by the Cracker Barrel in Kentucky for breakfast while passing through a small trucker town. It's super easy to get to, right off the highway, which made it a convenient stop. The place was clean, including the restrooms, which is always a plus on a road trip. It felt just like any other Cracker Barrel, which I actually like because you know what you're getting. The staff were really friendly and welcoming -- even though there weren't many of them working (small town, so that's expected), they handled everything smoothly. Service was quick, and the food was exactly what you'd hope for at Cracker Barrel: hearty, tasty, and satisfying. I had the hash brown casserole with three eggs, sausage bits, biscuits 'n gravy with a side of fried apples sprinkled with cinnamon. Probably the worst Cracker Barrel I've been to. I got the Southern fried chicken , greens, & mashed potatoes. The potatoes weren't seasoned with anything just smushed potatoes no butter , salt, pepper NOTHING. I got my food togo & the top was not on my greens, juice waste on everything. My chicken should have been cooked longer & most of it was not edible. The cornbread was good. The phone service when I called my order in was a 2. The service when picking it up was a 6. This os our 2nd day to celebrate our anniversary. We took a friend to Lost River cave with us. On the way home to Tennessee we stopped at the Franklin, KY Cracker Barrel. My husbank ordered the Chicken Fried chicken plate, same as he has odered for about 5 years. First, he received hos plate with the mashed potatoes and no cole slaw. I went to tge litchen doorway and asjed snother waitresses Jayde. When she csmevout, i told her that snd she went in the kitchen to get it. I went bsck to my tabel, and it took 10 minutes just to get a small bowl.of coleslaw. Sonce the 2 pieces of chicken werecso smal, my husband asked how much it would ne for 1 more piece of chicken tobthe young man who broughtbho the coleslaw and a small bowl of gravy. We waited and wsited and waited. 45 minutes later, when the 2 pieces of chicken came out, mu husband asked forca to go box. His mashed potaties were cold and we were tired from waiting. We had been there since 6:32 pm. Itcwas now 8:20 when we left. Also i had needed to be home to put up my baby chicken. I had put them in a cage outside until we came back. I had planted to be home by a little after 8pm. We arrived home at 9:15pm. Im so glad the owls didnt get them. We went for Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was great and service was excellent, especially for how busy they were. We joined their waitlist in the app and were able to get a table within minutes. Prices were reasonable as well, considering most restaurants were either closed that day or wanted twice to three times the amount for a holiday meal. Hats off to this staff on Thanksgiving, taking phone and online orders and hustling them out for curbside pick up! (Even a nice lady at the driveway to help you with pick up instructions!) I didn't think they'd be open on the holiday and I wish they didn't have to work today, but I hope they all know what a service they're doing for people who have to travel, whether for work or unfortunate circumstances, or even just for local people who may be eating alone during this pandemic, or otherwise cannot cook. Been there twice for take outs. The order slips have big red check marks denoting completeness but they mean absolutely nothing. Both times things were missing. Biscuits with requested butter and jam were missing. The gravy requested on the country fried steak was missing. The kids plate of pancakes was missing the Syrup. The plastic ware was partially broken with no straws for the milk cartons. You have to pay in advance here to make sure I would show up and they shamelessly ask for a tip when you place the order. Typical of every CB these days. Understaffed. Poorly trained staff, especially in the kitchen. Continuously declining food quality and value. Very obvious that corporate leadership is (and has long been) bad. Really sad, as CB used to be (long time back) a well-managed, consistent, tasty, good value experience when traveling. First time I have ever been disappointed at a Cracker Barrel. I have eaten at them all over the country. I won't visit this location again. I wanted breakfast for dinner and I ordered the Eggs Beni. They told me 10 minute wait but it was closer to 20. Ok maybe people were not leaving fast enough. The eggs were over cooked with a hard dry yolk. They forgot the side of grits and brought me apples instead. When I mentioned the eggs and grits they offered to make me a new plate but I was hungry and asked them to just bring the grits and I would eat the eggs. Maybe it was just a off night but they deserve the one star review. Everyone was nice and polite but they did not execute on the food and service. read more

I ordered the morning sampler which was 2 eggs, sausage, yogurt parfait and a blueberry muffin. I did not like the eggs and sausage, my sausage was rubbery‍ however the yogurt parfait was so delicious! That's probably what I will order if I go again. Being melanated in Franklin Ky can go against you and I believe that to be true at their Cracker Barrel location or either improperly trained Managers (Christina) could be the case here. I came for lunch and wanted a lil mimosa to go along with it. But due to me having a temporary KY ID I was turned down after 1 employee came and didn't know how to answer whether or not they could accept temporary ID. then Christina comes to the table to say they cannot accept it, she's never seen a temporary ID but then says temporary ID usually are stamped with a seal ‍...sounds like some informative training on Identification could occur with this store. Not only did I feel like the answers were coming due to what I looked like but it was a sight for the other patrons while I'm trying to gain clarification from individuals whom themselves didn't know. Normally this place is top but of the notch with service and speed. Me and my family attended tonight and it was awful. They told us it would be a 15 minute wait, but it was actually close to a 40 minute wait. After that, we just wanted our food and only half of us got our food and by the time we were done, the rest of my family dot their food. This is absolutely ridiculous. The service has always varied for each. THIS store however, is extremely prompt and friendly. We were seated immediately. Our server welcomed us with a bright smile. She brought us corn bread and biscuits within mins. after we were seated. Our water cups were always full. She was hospitable throughout our entire meal. There was a bit of a mix up initially. Someone started to place another groups order on our table. We told them that this wasn't our food and our waitress immediately came over and apologized. She was so caring and our food came out shortly after. {Food} Everything on their menu has that good old country home cooking feel to it. You can find Homemade Chicken n' Dumplings, Turnip Greens, Catfish, Sausage n' Biscuits, Country Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, Fried Apples, Cole Slaw, and Apple Cider here (and so much more). Their corn bread is made from real corn meal and their biscuits are home made as well. I've never had a problem with the quality or taste of any of their dishes. {Price} About $7-$12 for most dishes. Breakfast stop on weekend trip. There was six of us on a golf adventure. We were Immediately seated. A pleasant and attentive server was great, wish I could remember her name. Not a busy time of the day for restaurant. Our glasses were kept full and food arrived as ordered. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast. We were able to enjoy our meal in comfort and get back on the road without a hiccup. Clean dinning area and well appointed table Facilities also very clean. Easy checkout. Well stocked gift shop. In my past experiences at other Cracker Barrel's I'm not the biggest fan of some entree's but this time it was enjoyable. Was on the road home when I decided to hit the Cracker Barrel in Franklin, KY. Even though they were extremely busy I was seated within 15 minutes. I ordered a coffee, water, and the Chicken & Dumplings dinner. My server Emilee N was very pleasant and delivered my water & coffee. I decided to visit the restroom and upon return I saw my table had another couple sitting there. While I was contemplating my next move my server Emilee walked up to me with my food and we both had the same look on our faces "HUH"??? Well...instead of panicking she snagged another hostess & waitress, got me reseated, brought me fresh coffee, and kept checking on me even though I was no longer in her section. Terrible. Place was not busy, 4 tables at 6pm on Sunday. Waitress was nice, but lacks work ethic. No water, no silverware, no napkins, no follow up or checking in with us to see if we needed anything. She put a plate of cold food in front of me and I had to grab her arm and ask for silverware. I waited and waited, watching my food get colder, finally a gentleman gave me some. She said they were out of lemonade, so I asked for water. Never received but billed $3.39 for a drink I never received. Never received the biscuits she said we're just coming out of the oven. Food and service were decent. I got roast beef dinner and it was pretty good, not much gristle. The issue here is that on Oct 25 it is 55° outside and inside it feels like they have the air conditioning on as well as the ceiling fans are on. Additionally there is a very strong chemical smell throughout the restaurant. I was told that it's due to work being done on the roof. My lungs are sensitive to chemical smells and I had to literally eat and run. They should have planned better by limiting the air intake from the roof into the restaurant. One employee acknowledged the problem. However the gray haired lady at the checkout was flippant and curt when I mentioned the problem to her. read more

The best Cracker Barrel I've been to yet! When we arrived around 8:00 on a Saturday morning, the Cracker Barrel had a nice buzz going on, but it wasn't too crowded or busy. This location is very spacious, with loads of seating in two rooms. It's also very, very clean. The wood was sparkling! When we walked in, we were quickly seated by the window - a lovely table. There was a roaring fireplace that crackled as we walked by, which really enhanced that "homey" feel, and it was perfect on the stormy day! Bailee, our server, was a delight! Our mugs were consistently full with that good ol hot joe! She brought us everything we needed in a timely manner. The food at this location has been the best I've had. I had the Sunrise Sampler, and he had Momma's Pancake Breakfast. SUNRISE SAMPLER // This platter had everything I had my eyes on, and allowed me to get a bite of it all. The sampler comes with two eggs (I had mine over easy!), hashbrown casserole (heart eyes + drooling + heart eyes + drooling), fried apples, samples of country ham, bacon, and sausage, and the fixins (biscuits, grits, and gravy!). My eggs were cooked perfectly, with a gorgeous yellow runny yolk. The hashbrown cass was the hash brown cass, a true treasure of our great nation. The apples were sweet, but I would have liked them a little more soft, and now I know I never need to be torn between those and the HBCASS again (always the HBC). Bacon is always good at CB, and the sausage is okay, but I feel like it lacks some seasoning. I had never had the country ham before, but now I might make it a regular option for me! This thick cut piece of ham is salty and has a great bite to it. I loved this meat option! The biscuits were the pillows of angels, like always, and these were the best CB grits I've had - not watery at all! MOMMA'S PANCAKE BREAKFAST // This plate comes with 3 buttermilk pancakes, two eggs your way (he got over easy, too... that copycat), and your choice of bacon or sausage (he chose bacon). Once again, the eggs and bacon were on-point. But those pancakes. MMMMM. Perfectly sweet and fluffy, but the real goodness was the crispy ends. When the boyfriend went to the bathroom, I ate around all the edges of his pancakes because they were just too perfect. The giftshop was great too, and I left with an adorable Cracker Barrel mug depicting the classic rocking chairs. All in all, a top notch experience at this Cracker Barrel. read more

Requested medium, got hockey puck. The French fries were delicious. Hot and crispy on the outside chewy on the inside. She was reluctant to share! As for me, i had the fried chicken salad. It was okay. Just. The dressing tasted fresh and housemade. The fried chicken was uninspired and lacked flavor. No. So I got up and found a girl walking around with a headset and asked her, pointing out our table. She said she would bring some. No. After awhile later, our waitress finished the table of 12 and headed into kitchen. Then she finally brought out silverware saying someone else had been asked to bring us some. Now, our food was not hot. Not cold, but not hot either. Bad bad service is what it's all about now.
