Food was great, waitress was great, I had a great experience for breakfast as always. 2 thumbs up.

"Steak Fries" on the menu, with no indication they are not as so named.
    The Thumbs Critic ..

Thumbs Up: Cracker Barrel is known for long wait times, but we were seated in under 20 minutes for a table of two--faster than expected! Thumbs Up: This location had an interesting selection of store items, including some things I haven't seen at other Cracker Barrels. Thumbs Up: Our waitress was very kind and shared a heartfelt story about her son, who had been away for three years and had just come to visit from NYC. She was incredibly sweet. Neutral: Sweet... just like the unsweetened teas we ordered. Mistakes like this happen all the time, so I'm not counting it against the restaurant. Neutral: Worried about waiting even longer for a drink, I switched my order to water instead. Thumbs Down: Waters are not automatically brought to the table, which can be an issue if the wrong drink is served. It took 15 minutes to get a replacement, which felt excessive. Thumbs Down: They were very stingy with the hashbrown casserole. What is it with Houston-area Cracker Barrels and their tiny portions of hashbrown casserole? INCORRECTLY NAMED FOOD ITEMS: (Two Photos) My biggest issue was with the so-called "steak fries." I've had real steak fries--thinly sliced and battered fried steak. These were just thick-cut French fries! This is deceptive given how this region does not use alternate designations for French fries. Every restaurant I've been to properly describes menu items, and nothing here indicates these are just potato fries. Misleading food names could be a serious issue for people with dietary restrictions. Thumbs Down: I was so disappointed that I only ate one fry. Thumbs Up: That one fry was decent, but the misleading name ruined the experience. Thumbs Up: The corn muffins, however, were fantastic. Neutral: In all my years of eating at Cracker Barrel, I've never been served corn muffins. The waitress acted like they were standard at every table!

Don't count on their Kingwood location for preordered Easter dinner or any other holiday or special occasion. Very disappointed with Cracker Barrel yesterday. When we arrived to pick up a small Easter dinner for three, we were informed by their manager, Steve that they were out of everything we ordered, accept for the pie. Steve refunded the preordered dinner, and since there weren't a lot of other options as in other restaurants to choose from, we were asked that we choose something else from the menu. When we arrived home, we discovered the chicken fried steak was over cooked, there was no gravy or cornbread or bread, etc. The green beans looked like they were from a can, and way over cooked. The photos are exactly as we received these dinners. The mashed potatoes were from a box, and they tasted horrible. Even the pecan pie didn't appear or taste homemade. The manager offered to comp our next meal on him, but we paid for the nasty meal to go yesterday evening, and we had to wait over an hour for it to be prepared, on Easter. The restaurant was short staffed, crowded, and they didn't have the decency to call anyone who was there to pick up their paid preordered Easter meals. Our family has ordered Thanksgiving for six-seven people with no problem for many years in the past, but after the Easter disaster, we will not be returning.

We finally got a table big enough

We try to support local Kingwood are restaurants and hadn't been to Union Kitchen in quite a while. We arrived and asked for a table for 6, the dining room was busy so they said it would be a few minutes. Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. Glad we stopped by for our group lunch.

The food did surprise me aside from looking very simple it had such great punch of flavor. I ended up having the blackened fish with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was perfectly combined yet very simple looking. The half sweet unsweet tea was absolutely perfect it really gave the South Justice for tea. Overall I don't know if I would come back, I'm not a big steak eater but the steak did look great. It's in a shopping Plaza with plenty of parking in the front

Service wise, they do not attend to you with a greeting, took about 10 min just to be greeted. After the long wait, decided it may be quicker to do take out, again very long service and was rudely told to move away from the take out area even though there were others waiting after us. When asked how much longer after waiting 45 min, they said they would check... another 20 min later they came back with the food without giving an update. When got home with the food, the burger was charred so bad, wasn't even eatable. I feel they did this on purpose, no way should someone serve this to anyone. I called the next day to make a complaint, was told the GM would call me, never did so i contacted Buffalo Wild wings corporate and they also notified the GM to call me, and of course he never called. Terrible on all phases, just avoid this place unless you want to wait for no reason in filthy location that is somewhat new.

Unknown to me at the time the restaurant has a roll u The drink was excellent, but the guacamole had too much lime in it for me. The Pico was ok, but if I had to do it over again I would have 2 queso' and 1 pico. Also I added ground beef into the queso. That made the queso so much better! I suggest must warn you they charged me $6.00 for a shot class amount. Not a bargain. Unfortunately, I may sound wishy-washy, but the queso with the beef was pretty darn good. Would I buy it again absolutely NOT! I can get the same at several restaurants for less! I suggest going during Happy Hour to find bargains. I recommend this restaurant. GN3

I visited for lunch on a weekday where they have daily specials which save a few dollars off of the regular price. Upon reaching the steam table their digital display still had the previous days entrees, so I had to wait to get up to the counter to see the selection for the day which consists of 6-7 entrees. With the regular meals, you receive an entree, 2 sides, rice and cornbread. They offer tea, Pepsi products and for alcohol, it's beer, wine and daiquiris. They have loud r&b music playing in the background. I chose the "red" meatloaf (they have brown or red sauce), collards and Mac n cheese. Keep in mind they serve your food and drinks in to go packaging, regardless of whether you dine in, or get it to go. Food portions are large too. The meatloaf portion I received was large, delicious and juicy. The slice was around 2 inches thick. The mac n cheese was good, and actually ended up being my favorite item. The collards are pretty typical with a lot of vinegar and cooked for a long time. Below the meatloaf was a base of white rice and brown gravy which is basically a filler. You receive 2 cornbread muffins, which I don't really eat but I ate a couple bites and they are pretty sweet. The owner/manager was friendly and greeted me while in line, stopped by my table to check on me, and even said goodbye as I was leaving.
