This review is difficult to write because I really want this location to succeed. A couple of years ago, we stopped dining at this Cracker Barrel because of declining service and food quality. It was disappointing because we've had wonderful experiences at the Lufkin location while traveling to visit our daughter during college. The difference between the two locations has always been noticeable, and unfortunately, our recent visit confirmed that this location still hasn't turned things around. Since we eat out frequently, we decided to give it another chance and hoped things had improved. Sadly, they seem to have gotten worse. Our server, Luna, appeared to be very new and lacked the training or support she needed. I don't place the blame solely on her because everyone has to learn somewhere, but it was evident that no one was mentoring or assisting her. There were only about five or six tables dining at the time, and it appeared she was only responsible for our table while other servers handled the rest of the restaurant. Service was extremely slow from the start. We waited for drinks, bread, refills, and basic table attention, often wondering if she was coming back. When our meals arrived, my husband's dinner was missing half of the sides that were listed on the dinner menu. When we asked about it, she initially insisted that everything had been served and even brought us a breakfast menu to explain it. However, we had ordered from the dinner menu, which clearly listed additional sides. Once we showed her the correct menu, the mistake was acknowledged, but the missing items came out one at a time over an extended period. The final side didn't arrive until after we had already finished eating, so we ended up taking it home for our dog. My son ordered the chicken noodle soup, only to be told it wasn't available. He was offered the Campfire Chicken Soup instead, which was essentially chicken broth with vegetables and chicken--but no noodles. It was very disappointing, and he only ate a couple of spoonfuls. My mother ordered the Country Fried Steak and also only managed a few bites because it simply wasn't very good. The bright spot was my Campfire Chicken meal, which I actually enjoyed. Beyond our own table, we noticed several dirty tables sitting uncleared while plenty of servers were on the floor. The restaurant gave the overall impression of being neglected rather than simply busy. We never once saw a manager checking on guests, assisting staff, or ensuring everything was running smoothly. That was perhaps the most disappointing part of the evening. Good management can make all the difference, especially when newer employees need guidance. I still enjoy browsing the Cracker Barrel store and usually stop in once or twice a year because they always have unique gifts, seasonal décor, and fun items. It's the restaurant that continues to disappoint. It's honestly sad to see. We've watched several Cracker Barrel locations close over the years, and while I'd hate to see this one suffer the same fate, I can understand why customers may choose not to return if experiences like ours continue. Judging by how few guests were dining during dinner, I doubt we're the only ones who have felt this way. I truly hope this location receives the leadership, training, and attention it needs. Cracker Barrel has always been a place known for comfort, hospitality, and consistency, and I would love nothing more than to be able to change this review after a future visit. read more

I visited Cracker Barrel Old Country Store on Presidents Day, and even though it was a holiday, everything was great! The service was very fast, which was impressive considering how busy it was. Our server, Kimberly, was super nice, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. She really made the experience even better. The food was very good and came out quickly and fresh. She asked for the 2 piece fried chicken, he brought the 4 piece and when she said she only ordered the 2 piece he brought a menu and asked her to show him where the 2 piece chicken was. Where to start... service was not just slow but nonexistent. We were seated and forgotten about. I had to ask for the floor to be swept under our table because there were huge pieces of food under our feet. We had to ask for everything we got! Don't count on their Kingwood location for preordered Easter dinner or any other holiday or special occasion. Very disappointed with Cracker Barrel yesterday. When we arrived to pick up a small Easter dinner for three, we were informed by their manager, Steve that they were out of everything we ordered, accept for the pie. Steve refunded the preordered dinner, and since there weren't a lot of other options as in other restaurants to choose from, we were asked that we choose something else from the menu. When we arrived home, we discovered the chicken fried steak was over cooked, there was no gravy or cornbread or bread, etc. The green beans looked like they were from a can, and way over cooked. The photos are exactly as we received these dinners. The mashed potatoes were from a box, and they tasted horrible. Even the pecan pie didn't appear or taste homemade. The manager offered to comp our next meal on him, but we paid for the nasty meal to go yesterday evening, and we had to wait over an hour for it to be prepared, on Easter. The restaurant was short staffed, crowded, and they didn't have the decency to call anyone who was there to pick up their paid preordered Easter meals. Was told our table would be ready soon when we arrived. 20 minutes later we were still waiting while seeing numerous empty tables available. Another 30 minutes passed and we were rudely told they had no idea how long it would be before we were seated as they were waiting for people to leave. Skeleton crew working to say the least. The only thing that has gone up is their prices ($3,29 for a glass of iced tea) We arrived there to eat at 6:15 PM 7/18. Things began to fall apart immediately: For the 4th time in a row they didn't have my favorite dish: Southern Fried Chicken. Asked waitress to bring me a menu, and that took all of 10 minutes. After finally ordering, it took 35 minutes to get our food, Not once did waitress offer to fill my wife's coffee cup nor my iced tea glass. Final act: Asked cashier for a receipt and he gave me someone elses. And overall they weren't very busy. After several years we declared that to be our last visit to a Cracker Barrel !!! read more

It took us 15 minutes to get sat at our table for 2 because of a miscommunication which is not the end of the world. The manager finally came out and was nice enough. He got us a table (which he bussed) and we sat down. Well after all that we thought we could finally get some food and have a good date night right? It's been revitalized. Food is great. Biscuits, cornbread. Jellies. Which I do not recall my last visit. So I wonder if that's new. Friends took me out for my birthday, brunch today. It was packed but the staff had their devices. The wait was not long and miserable. We had a great dining experience. Food was great. Husband for the first time had leftovers. I had leftovers. Our guests ate every bite of their plates. So Food was good! Service excellent. We believe our server is well seasoned. She's very pleasant. Entire staff during our visit were excellent. Husband had the new dish. Hashbrown casserole shepherd pie. The meat he tells me is pot roast. He said it was delicious. One of our party had country fried steak. And the other person of our party had a large salad. Mmm. Fresh. I had a breakfast favorite you can get anywhere. Sausage, eggs, pancakes. But. Cracker barrel stands out. My sausage tasted smoked. i have been to this cracker barrel numerous times over the years and i must say its a hit or miss with the service here while dining. i would try to avoid going mid mornings on saturdays and sundays as these days are their buiseset days dur to the amount of traffic the wait times can be from 25-35 mins depending how big your party is. cracker barrel has taken items off their menu like turkey bacon, and taken the yogurt prafait and muffin off as these were my favorite menu items for breakfast. overtime i have tried many items on the menu. i always enjoy getting the breakfast sampler where you get two eggs, three meats ham, bacon, sausage if you dont like either of the meats you can double or triple the kind you want, i also enjoy when hatch green chile season is back cb tends to do limited menu items such as the hatch green chile hash brown bowl for breakfast. dont forget to always get your fixins corn mini muffins, biscuits with jelly and gravy yum! three stars for wait times, menu items taken off the menu and lack of consistency in servers. read more

The WORST freaking location ever! Came here & noticed it was not so busy and thought "great, service should be quick." It was the exact opposite. For starters our waitress was lackluster like she didn't really want to be there. It took forever for her to actually come out and take our orders (yes that's how much time we had to wait). Then she brought out what's supposed to be their infamous biscuits and muffins about 10 minutes or so after we had been there, and they were trash. They were dry, room temperature and no honey even came with it - neither did she ask. After about 20-min or so waiting on our food. The manager came out and told us they were running late with the food and it'd be another 20 min. Are you kidding me?! Mind you we ordered two fries chicken platters and a kid's slider meal w/fries. How long does it take to fry chicken? Further more, why was it taking so long to begin with? We waited another TWENTY- MINUTES and still no food, no update, no nothing. Our waitress eventually brought out the kid's meal and it'd didn't bother asking if we needed anything else. I asked for the manager and what would be comped for the wait and inconvenience. Needles to say we never saw the manager OR the rest of our meal. At that point I just walked out. I DO NOT recommend this place whatsoever - save your time and your money. read more
