How I heard of this place: My sisters were hungry after a day of travel and wanted something quick. I stopped by for an early breakfast with some friends who had finished working a night shift. This location is near the airport and some hotels, so I assume many travelers are also coming in for a quick meal. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. I ordered the breakfast meal (eggs, hash browns, toast) and a regular waffle. The food itself was decent! The toast had just the right amount of butter, and the hash browns were good. The waffle was cooked just right. In retrospect, I think I should have gotten a topping for the waffle. Overall, the portion sizes were generous and food was reasonably priced. I was in Texas in early April for a vacation and one of my bucket list food places was to finally visit a Waffle House. I have heard about them for so long, I knew I had to go and try it out. In fact, it was the first place I went after I landed in Houston and picked up my rental car. This location was easy to get to and there was a lot of parking (where I am from parking is a big deal). The restaurant was quite busy when I was there for a late, Saturday breakfast, and was smaller than I had been expecting. I liked how the kitchen area was right out in the open. They had a lot of staff on hand and everyone I talked to was friendly. The service was fast and the food came out quickly. I had the All Star Special breakfast platter. I found out later from a Waffle House expert friend, I should have ordered a special gravy-covered side dish but the grits I had were nice. The two eggs were cooked perfectly and were just how I ordered. The sausages were salty and tasty. The real star of the breakfast was the waffle. It was the size of a dinner plate and was extra tasty when combined with their whipped butter and syrup. It was a golden brown, crispy waffle with a soft, chewy center. The coffee was nice and strong. I was even offered a refill in a to-go cup without asking if that was possible. I had already had my fill but loved that they asked. Overall, my first (and currently only) visit to a Waffle House was just what I had hoped for. A great plate of breakfast food, great service and a friendly, fun diner. This was our last food stop in Texas before flying back home. I was so happy to see a Waffle House in Houston since there were none in SATX and ATX. It was take out only however the full menu was available. There was a lot of staff working and it appeared there were trainers mentoring new employees. The staff was very nice but our order was so wrong. My bf ordered steak and eggs and they gave him steak and toast. I ordered a waffle with eggs and hashbrowns, which was correct but they didn't pack any butter or syrup for the waffle. There was a winter storm out so I did t want to go back there in 24 degree weather but luckily my boyfriend got me syrup. If dine in was available it would have been all good. Service is horrible. Staff is weird as hell. We used to come here all the time and get our food in no time. Now we've been sitting here for 45 mins watching people around us finish their meals that ordered after us. This is a joke. Absolute joke of a location. They need help and actual management. Don't get me started on the gnats. Update: After 3 separate parties order after us and got their food before us. 2 to-go orders also were placed and picked up. This waffle house had the absolute best service I've experienced in years. They were warm and inviting as soon as we entered and promptly assisted us with our orders. The food was fresh and made to perfection. I had a sirloin steak, raisin bread, and loaded hasbrowns. They cooked everything exactly how I requested and checked on our table offer. It's a waffle house. People come here late at night when they don't want fast food. It's a literal experience. My fiance shocked me the other night when he told me he has never been to a waffle house. We were near the airport anyways so I decided to take him. This is an easy waffle house to get to if your leaving the airport. It's right across from the parking spot and theres a best western literally in the same parking lot. We were waiting to pick up a family member from the airport. So we stopped by here which is close to the airport. It reminded me of my school days as Ed used to hang out at Waffle House with good friends. The place was empty when we walked in. There were 3 employees working. We interacted with couple of them. Nice get away spot to relax and watch people cook your food. Besides that...nothing really to report here. The place is clean...yet, once you leave, you will not feel that way because that open cooking area will have you smelling like every dish prepared there for the last week. The prices varies at the place, so it was cool to see a value menu portion of the menu, but all in all, this is greasy spoon dining! I do love that you can watch them cook your food, thus, in theory, lessening the chances of them purposely spiting your food by some gross manner. Plenty of space to converse with your neighbor, or whomever, so this is a good place to chat. All in all, if you want a decent variety menu, at decent pricing, and don't mind smelling as if you bathe in lightly used greased once a month, then stop here for medium speed service and medium quality and taste food. read more

So I have been wanting to update my review of this particular Waffle House. First, I stay frequently at the HIX just down the street so this WH is a favorite for 24-hours, good food and a nice atmosphere...not at all fancy which is perhaps why I like it so much. During my last visit, a couple days ago, it was a surprise to see that the festive singing was replaced by feuding between the cook (Mr. Arthur) and the other server...all picking/squabbling with the most pleasant server that I have seen in a while...Taylor. Apparently they must have been at this for some time...the air was thick with tension. I ordered my usual, cheese eggs, hash brown and country ham. You can have your hashbrowns many ways...covered, smothered, scattered...I guess it depends upon your needs at the moment...I prefer just scattered, none of the extra stuff, thank you. Cheese eggs are to die for. They are exactly what the name implies...scrambled eggs and cheese...they are terrific...!!! The country ham is not your typical slice of ham...this baby is a thick slice, more like a ham steak, and a large as the plate...be hungry or share, there is a lot of ham. All said and done, this Waffle House usually had a fun atmosphere where the servers and the cook are all singing songs, and having a good time. And the food...always good when I come there, and the price is agreeable...!!! My son and I were hungry after being rejected from IHOP upon entering for reasons unknown. We decided upon Waffle House because we wanted late night steaks. The Waffle House on Will Clayton Blvd right outside the Bush Airport was the place we opted upon. Three employees were on shift. Even though they seemed swamped at 11:00, at night, they were efficient. Danielle took our order and had a dry yet hilarious attitude. The cook, named Key, was expressing "This is how you cook" out loud making the patrons laugh. Finally, the server named Michael had finger nails that were so clean and perfectly kept, I swore he had them done. The food was amazing. The steaks were so good I got two for my son and one for me. One does not expect such chipper service that late into the evening. Once things slowed down, the employees cleaned up tables around us while conversing with my son and I. I told them this was so good I had to write a review and encourage others to visit these amazing employees: Key, Danielle and Manicure Michael, on the night shift from Wednesday to Sunday at the Will Clayton Waffle House in Houston, Texas. This staff deserves a raise. Geneva is my server and she is awesome. The best one hands down. She has the order correct every time. Stephon was the cook and my food was great. He made sure that everything was cooked to perfection and done correctly. I've been here multiple times and there was always something wrong but this duo has gotten it correct every time.
