This Cracker Barrel was a good pit-stop on our way back from Canada. They were clearly in the middle of their lunch rush, but our server was still very attentive to us. The food was good, and the portion sizes were reasonable for what you pay. The knife they gave me to cut my steak with was far from sharp and I really struggled with it, but once I finally cut through it the steak itself was delicious. I appreciate that this isn't one of the ones that was "upgraded" because I loved the nostalgic feel you get from the decor inside. And, of course, we had to walk through the gift shop, which I managed to get through without buying anything (but just barely). Overall, a decent place to stop. The worst customer service I have ever encountered. I returned a defective item from their gift shop via US mail because I bought while traveling and live 300 miles away. But after multiple phone calls, emails, and submissions of documents, they were totally non-responsive and would not issue a credit for the returned item, forcing me to dispute the charge for nonpayment from my credit card company. So, I had to experience Cracker Barrel and came for breakfast. Actually, I wanted to go to the store and look through the Christmas items. Breakfast was great! They have a huge selection and the waitress kept our coffee cups filled. I had some type of special which involved eggs, meat and pecan pancakes. How do they make the pancakes so fluffy? I took one pancake home, because I am not a glutton. Had fun in the shop and while I didn't buy anything, this is a great place to window shop. My favorite is the animated Santa. You can count on cracker Barrel for consistent, predictable food that's fast. There's also a lot of it with big portions and biscuits or cornbread served with every meal. Went to have Mother"s Day breakfast, we had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. Once seated we waited 15 minutes to have our orders placed by the waitress. We waited an hour to be served cold food. The manager Laurie was nice, and provided us a discount. I know it was pretty busy, yet it is truly unacceptable to wait an hour to be served also others patrons were pretty perturbed. It ended up being a great day anyhow!!! We've overnighted in the RV a few times at this spot and usually grab breakfast in the morning. This time we decided to eat when we got there. It was not good. My hubby's catfish was slushy, the fries were dry/overdone. My breakfast for dinner? Eggs were overdone. Bacon was almost cremated. And the one thing that CBs are known for, biscuits and gravy? The biscuits were old and hard and the gravy was flat. With tip it was $50 and absolutely not worth it. Our waitress though. She was AWESOME. We have been there for a while, but when we went today, we were extremely disappointed. The sausage patties were like hockey pucks and overcooked. Biscuits were not fluffy like they used to be ..very hard and small. There was very little sausage gravy to split between two people. As Canadians, we normally take any opportunity to visit a Cracker Barrel when we are in the US. This location didn't disappoint. There were two of us and we got to the restaurant at about 6:30 on a Wednesday night. There was no line to get in and we were seated right away. We had a server who admitted she was brand new. She was wonderful to us so whoever trained her did a good job. One of us ordered the grilled catfish with macaroni and cheese and broccoli and the other ordered the cornmeal crusted catfish with hashbrowns and broccoli. The food was delicious and I wanted to give it 4 stars. However, as pescatarians, the options for meatless meals are slim. We both opted for fish, which was great but we wanted the hashbrown casserole and the green beans but were told both had meat in them. This wasn't listed on the menu so if our server wasn't so attentive we would have been more disappointed. We recognize that not eating meat puts us in the minority, and we are usually skilled at finding options to suit us, but when even the vegetables have meat in them, that's frustrating. I've been going here for years and never had a problem. Very rare that I leave a review that isn't positive let alone leave one at all. The last two times have been terrible service and food. Not clean at all. Foot slipped on a pancake under the table along with a colored pencil. My friend's sausage wasn't cooked through so he couldn't eat it. My eggs had eggshells in them. She never came back to ask how everything was. Just said nothing at all and set the bill on the table. Also, when we first got there we were told we couldn't have lemon for our waters because they didn't have someone to cut the lemons. ‍ Not a big deal but considering the rest of the experience it was annoying. 40 min wait for a bad experience. Cracker Barrel, whether dining in or taking out..has always been a pleasant experience. The food is by far better than any other national chain restaurant in the same category. Tonight for instance I had the meatloaf... outstanding. It really does taste homemade. My brother has the pot roast...he said the same thing in regards to his meal. It has reasonable prices. We had to wait about 30 mins but it was Veterans Day & they were short staffed. Food was good and came out warm but not hot which is understandable due to staffing. Our waitress was friendly and trying their best to be attentive. The fried apples are usually always on point & had a strange flavor to them. Biscuits only came out with one jam and one butter. Food sucked- I got the loaded baked potato and it was so dry as in like it was made a week prior and just thrown in the microwave! Service was really slow- it wasnt very busy when we got there we got seated almost immediately but when we sat it took the waitress almost 10 mins to come and introduce herself and take our drink order, then it took abt 20-30 mins to come get our food order, and getting our food took more than an hour for them to get our food ( not mentioning the sides that sat under a heating lamp for almost 45 mins! I have been to this Cracker Barrel about 3 times in the 5 years I have been in the Rochester area and each time I have had a poor experience. In this occasion my family and I were told a 20 minute wait to then be told it was another 25 mins upon asking again. Finally we had the opportunity to be seated. We waited over an hour after ordering. In the meantime 3 other tables who were seated after us received their meals. Just a very poor experience and would not recommend on any occasion. 2 years ago I came here with my family and had an extremely poor experience where we were seated and then after 15+ minutes we were still not severed, no drink orders, and no acknowledgment. We finally decided to go back today to give them another chance, and it felt like we were having deja vu. Almost the exact same thing occurred, with the only difference this time being we waited approximately 20 minutes of no acknowledgement before we finally left. We ordered Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meals from here.  The pickup is around back at the receiving door where the trucks park.  Their signage is not clear, and the email you get isn't clear at all. For Thanksgiving I sat in a pick up spot for 15 minutes and followed their online pickup, and no one let me know I was in the wrong place. We have one meat eater and two vegetarians, so holiday meals are interesting for us.  For Thanksgiving, we got a hot and prepared meal.  My husband wanted chicken, so we did that instead of turkey.  We got mac and cheese and hashbrown casserole as our sides.  They came in aluminum disposable trays, so it was easy to reheat them.  Although, there were no instructions.  The meal was for 4 to 6, and it really was a small amount for 6 people. And the cornbread was very dry.  The biscuits were better. I got the cinnamon bin pie as an add on, and that was fantastic.  We decided to get it again for Christmas. We got the heat and serve meal this time of the prime rib. This time it came with instructions, which was nice, but no pans, which I found really odd.  We got 2 sides of mac and cheese this time, and they were much smaller than the Thanksgiving ones, which we thought was odd. Christmas came with mashed potatoes, and I thought they were awful and I couldn't even eat them.  They had some strange taste in them. My mom liked them though, so I guess it's preference, but it's the only time in my life I can remember that I couldn't eat mashed potatoes. The yeast rolls were really good, and the mac was good, and my husband loved the prime rib, which was the point of getting it. But I think it was very expensive, and we had tons of dishes to wash afterwards, which isn't the point of ordering a meal like that, in my opinion.  We are really ordering this for the meat for my husband, so if he wants it again next year, I'd do it again. But I'd like to try something else. And I hope they give us aluminum pans, lol. read more

I was warned by the Host that the menu was very limited. No Baked Ham that I wanted, but they did have a succulent Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings, Biscuits, Dessert & Drink included. My friend ordered the Thanksgiving Special. I ordered the Country Fried Steak Dinner with two(sides). Refills for the Lemonade & Peach Tea. Having come to Cracker Barrel many times as a kid to enjoy an afternoon lunch with my grandmother, this place has a bit of a nostaglic feel to me. I love looking through the little giftshop at the front of the restaurant and the overall homey feel of its design. This is a restaurant of comfort food and this time around I ordered the sunday homestyle chicken meal with mac and cheese and fries as my sides. I have always loved Cracker Barrel's mac and cheese and it has become a staple whenever I come to eat! I also love their cornbread and biscuits! Their kids meals are the perfect size. I love that I can pick any two sides!! It never disappoints their staff is always very friendly as well. The little shop is the best, I always end up finding so much! They usually have great deals on jewelry, and the little candy sticks are a must as well. They usually have a great selection of Squishmallows as well, which are so popular right now. I believe there are some that exclusive to Cracker Barrel? I could be wrong though. Today is my birthday. I've had Cracker Barrel on the brain for weeks. This is my 3rd attempt with using the online waitlist. IT LIES!!! Today I was quoted 20-25 minutes. I arrived at 25 minutes and was told it would be an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes. (See previous review... this is our 2nd negative encounter with this wait list). I had a great conversation with the Manager on Duty, Kevin. He explains that the Milne wait list is a corporate failure and they have to deal with upset customers nearly every day. At any other restaurant, like Texas Roadhouse, when they quote you 45 minutes or 1 hour; you join the list, text "HERE" when you arrive and that initial wait time is honored. So if you arrive on time, you are seated immediately. Cracker Barrel's Wait List is a SCAM! You arrive at your estimated time and "as a courtesy" you're placed somewhere in the middle of the list randomly. "A courtesy"?!?! That is straight up "bait and switch"! Fraud. I give Kevin some credit, he listened to me professionally, intently and empathetically. He kindly expressed "how the system works" followed by an acknowledgement that is flawed and causes them much grief, but corporate won't listen. As we talked, I pulled up the app again, "10 - 15 minutes". Jonathan? "30-45." 20 minutes later, we were seated. I'm not sure if Kevin really did us any favors or if it was finally our turn in line. We were texted that our table was ready. Jonathan at the door didn't say a thing. I got a second text. I asked, is this thing right? Is our table ready? Should we go in? "Oh, yes." As we approached the host stand inside, we could clearly hear hostess Jackie condescendingly say "Well! I texted him twice!" I introduced myself and she proceeded to BERATE me! "Did they explain to you how the online wait works!?!?" I kindly replied, "Yes, Kevin and I had a nice conversation about it outside." She huffed and puffed and showed us to our table. Throughout our meal, she'd look my way and scowl. I can't end this purely on a rant. Our server, Angela, was amazing (*****). The food was great (*****). When my family and I lived here in Rochester, this Cracker Barrel was always my favorite. I ordered 2 piece cat fish, grits, Mac and cheese with greens. My Husband ordered the double meat breakfast. Yes, he's greedy. lol. He had double bacon with grits and hard fried eggs. The food was really delicious. What happened to this place? It used to be great, but after my recent experience, I'm Not going back for a long time. if ever. First of all , the waitress was rude and lacked any semblance of customer service. She took our orders like she was doing us a favor. My friend ordered a chicken dish that came out after the rest of us finished. No offer to have her order something else , just said they were still cooking it. When it finally came, the chicken tasted spoiled , so she ordered a salad so could get it asap. My chicken and noodles were more " noodles" than chicken. The said noodles were about an inch thick and were undercooked, basically inedible. The fried chicken another person had was more coating than chicken. We also had to ask for silverware, napkins and we never got the coffee we ordered and she never came back to check on us, so had no opportunity to remind her. All around horrible. read more
