Dinner for four. My wife and I drove from Raleigh to this Cracker Barrel location to have dinner with her uncle and his wife who were passing through NC on their way back to Virginia. The Service was great , Michaela did an amazing job of taking care of us. She was upbeat, funny and attentive. The food was great 3 of us got the Turkey and dressing and one got meat loaf (I think) All 4 of us were happy with our meal. The ambiance was great, traditional Cracker Barrel look. The restaurant was clean in the dining area as well as the rest rooms. We were greeted when we first arrived and we were politely asked to shop in the store after dinner, I thought this was a brilliant way of getting people to shop... which we did. I ordered the fried chicken meal with a side of mashed potatoes with brown gravy and mac and cheese and it was pretty good! I wasn't a huge fan of the mashed potatoes since they lacked flavor and had some skin in it but the mac and cheese definitely made up for it. The chicken was delicious and such a big portion. Stopped by to eat at the cracker Barrel in Melborne Fl and all I can is well crap. Cracker Barrel always hits just right for family dining. After our shopping at the outlet we decided to dine in at Cracker Barrel. They were able to seat us quickly and the service was on point. Our waitress was very patient with our 4 kiddos who wanted to order for themselves. I had the shrimp and rice and the kiddos ate from the kids menu. I came in as 1 person during lunch. It was not busy. I was sat at a corner table and watched as my server and host went to everyone but me. I'm a sucker for redemption stories. Always good to hear how some places find ways to improve and come back stronger. Case in point, this Cracker Barrel restaurant. Our second trip here yielded a much better dining experience. The French Toast and the Benny Biscuit were both better tasting! Wife loved the French Toast so much that she cleaned her plate. My Benny's hollandaise sauce left me a little wanting in the flavor department, but it was nonetheless a workable dish. The surprise was the hash brown casserole. Man it was so good! The service was prompt and quick. Despite the crowd we were seated fairly quickly and received our orders promptly. My only complaint about the ambiance is it is a little too dark for my liking. DO NOT go here! After my experience at this location yesterday I am writing this to tell people don't go here as long as the manager will is employed there. After waiting over an hour for our food, getting it cold with extremely hot plates, and asking for the manager several times, Will stood blocking me in , even when I was obviously trying to stand, made a sexiest remark about me to my spouse and said don't worry I won't charge you for this just leave. I checked my bank before we left and was charged twice.they called the manager and we were told there's nothing that can be done. So they stole 44 dollars from us. Went here for the 1st time on Saturday February 8th 2025 with my parents for a much needed breakfast. We were on the road taking a trip to South Carolina, and needed a bite to eat. Easy to find once you get off the highway. Please note, we have been to other cracker barrels, but this is the first visit at this location. Host greeted us with a smile, and took us to our table. The table was in a corner and near the fireplace, which was warm and cozy, at least for me. Our Server greeted us promptly, and was very polite.I forgot her name tho. Also had that Southern Hospitality vibe, which is good. We started with 3 coffees. For breakfast I ordered a short stack of pancakes with the impossible sausage. My mom got the grandma's special with impossible sausage. My dad got the grandma's special with hash browns. Our server informed us that it came with biscuits and we got that too. although only my dad ate it. The food came out nice and hot, and was delicious. it also got really busy in the restaurant, and we wanted a refill of coffee, and it was slow to get our waitress. understandable though. we eventually did get our refill. left a cash tip at the table. Then went to the store part and paid our bill, and i saw a cute scooby doo plush for easter. This location is substandard. Waited 45 minutes then had to ask where our food was. Food was then brought out cold for everyone in our party except one person who was told that the gravy wasn't thickening and they couldn't serve it. His order was biscuits and gravy so that was odd - so they just brought him the biscuits like that was just fine! BEST CRACKER BARREL WITHIN 100 MILES OF THE AREA! My husband and I visited today (Labor Day, 2024). We live down the way. The one on hwy 42 is disgusting. The one in Durham is too ghetto. As a Cracker Barrel fan, I was hesitant when they started changing their menu but something about the way they now cook their French toast makes it AMAZING. I was a bit disappointed when they removed the "eggs in the basket" meal from their menu but their French toast makes up for it and the prices are so reasonable. ($10 for a meal!?!) read more

My visit at the Smithfield location left me with a bad taste in my mouth. My son and I came in around 2:00om today. I got a fried chicken salad. The chicken in my salad was old and tough as if it had been made in advance and sat under heat for hours. There was no juice left in it. It was inedible. I didn't send it back because my server never came by to ask me if my meal was ok. My sons chicken tenders were also hard, but not as bad as my fried chicken breast. Unfortunately, he didn't eat his chicken either. The hash brown casserole was dry. Then we visited the gift shop and I let him pick out a toy. My son is 1.5 years old. As we're paying for his toy car he grabs a bag of M&Ms (they're at eye level and colorful so of course he's going to be drawn to it.) he proceeded to put the bag (not the candy) into his mouth, because that's what toddlers do. The young man working the register says "he can't put that in his mouth." So I take it away (I'm trying to pay as all this is happening which is why he grabbed it in the first place.) I explain to my son, as if he understands lol, that it's gross. The young man then says, "can I have that back? Unfortunately, I have to write it off now." Say what? You can't wipe it down with sanitizer? Haha I've never heard of that. He might want to go to the toy section and write EVERYTHING off because I guarantee half of those items have touched the mouths of children. As I'm walking away he very sarcastically says, "you're welcome." As if I were supposed to thank him for writing that candy off. It was rude. The servers and cashiers could use more coaching, as well as the kitchen staff because I'm pretty sure that chicken was over two hours old. Cracker Barrel is always my go-to road trip restaurant and a road trip is what brought me into this location. I was pretty impressed with my experience. Everything was really clean and the food was really good. I got the Sunrise Sampler and loved that I could get breakfast for dinner. Our server Marissa S. was fabulous and our food was served to us fresh and hot within 20 minutes. Marissa even brought us drinks for the road without being asked. Of course, no trip to Cracker Barrel is complete without browsing all the goodies in the gift shop. As usual, the gift shop was fully stocked with kitschy items that were really fun to browse.
