This was my first time dining at a Cracker Barrel and I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. First off, the food and ambiance: lots of options for the whole family, including all day breakfast for those who seek it. Lots of side options as well. Of course, most of the options are either fried or really salty and should not be eaten on the regular for one's own health, but the food tasted wonderful and the quality was good too. Portion sizes were quite large and the biscuits and cornbread were an added bonus. The store itself had cute knick knacks and country style goods that gave the establishment a country feel, and the decor tied in nicely to create some old southern charm. Overall, very nice place to try southern/country food. Just watch your blood pressure and cholesterol! read more

Great Cracker Barrel location adjacent to the I95 exit. The service really shined here, and as usual the food was outstanding. This particular location was an oasis for us as we had been driving all day and this dinner break was in our Washington DC to Tampa portion of the trip. The pancakes were as good as usual. The combo plate with Chicken and Dumplings and Meatloaf was delicious. The restrooms were spotless as was the entire restaurant. I would not hesitate to visit this location. read more

We were told it would be a 20 minute wait but was surprised when they called us in 10 minutes. 1.Our table still had water stains from the party ahead of us. 2. Our drinks took about 15 minutes to come and we were told that the corn bread and biscuits were coming out shortly. 2 tables that were seated after us came in and got their drinks and bread before we did. 3. The waitress Kassidy said she had to wait for more bread and would bring it once it was ready. 10 minutes later we got our food. The catfish and Mac and cheese was cold. She put in a new order which we got when we were all done eating. We had to remind her that we still hadn't gotten the bread. I will give 4 stars due to this being a childhood favorite memory of a restaurant my family frequented. I love the concept of having a gift store with cute little trinkets, sweets, etc. The service was fine. Our server was attentive and pleasant. However, I wasn't all that pleased with what I chose to order. The spicy grilled catfish was off on texture and taste for me. One of my all time favorites.. the hashbrown casserole - the recipe seems to have changed over the years? Or maybe this just wasn't a good batch. I'd never order the macaroni and cheese again. And I didn't appreciate it all being on the same plate for the juices of the fish running into both of my sides. read more

We often travel up and down the East Coast since we live in Florida and a lot of family and friends live in New York. Cracker Barrel is our go-to place for breakfast on the road. This was our first stop at the Smithfield location. Once We were seated we were immediately greeted by our server Alyssah. She was quite pleasant and cheerful on this early Sunday morning. She took our beverage order and told us she'd be right back. She came right back with our coffee and took our order. My wife had a couple of questions about one of the specials and she had the answer right away. Didn't say I'll check or I'm not sure or anything like that. She took the order and while we were waiting we could not help but observe the way the store was being operated. Rodney, the manager, was visible and was working closely with the staff, from the greeter to the servers, making sure all the customers were being taken care of in a timely manner. He was even pitching in to help serve some of the food to minimize any delays. The servers seemed like they were all helping each other out. Servers would pass by and ask if we needed more coffee even though we weren't at their assigned table. Our food was promptly delivered and was consistent with what we've come to expect from a Cracker Barrel breakfast. The staff looked genuinely happy and we believe a lot of that had to do with the manager, Rodney. The staff works as a team because that's what he shows them. He's right in there pitching in. We'll be happy and confident to stop at the Smithfield NC location the next time the opportunity presents itself. Thanks to all. read more

A traveling staple- cracker barrel offers a steady menu of traditional comfort food. We lunched with friends as a much needed stop on a 10 hour travel day. Service was fast and friendly. Food was less fabulous. I look for consistency with chain restaurants & today the food was off. Biscuits dry, the pork chop was so dry my husband drank 4 cupsof soda to get it down! My side plate of Hashbrown casserole, green beans & fried apples was so-so. The hashbrowns tasted as though they had sat around all morning and served to me @ 1pm. Our friend ordered the French dip & enjoyed her meal. I won't give up on cracker barrel, but hopefully is was just an off day. read more

One star for the treatment from the hostess, she thinks that just because she calls our party name out "6times" in a 30second time span, it's going to be sufficient time to give our table away. When I questioned her about calling our name back to back.. she said "I called it out 6times, now you may have to wait" luckily the other young lady was nice enough to look and find us a table. But the main hostess attitude needs to change. Went to this Cracker Barrel on a Saturday evening around 7:30. Seated quickly, friendly service. I ordered the Meatloaf and chicken combo plate and my sister ordered a combo plate with chicken and dumplings and fried chicken. Even though we were served quickly, the food was lukewarm. The meatloaf was bland, the greens tasted like canned and were bland. My sister's chicken and dumplings only had one small piece of chicken in it, in other words she got a bowl full of bland lukewarm dumplings. We didn't complain, we just won't be back to this location. I hope that this is the only Cracker Barrel with these issues, as it's the worst one I've been to. I will continue to go to other Cracker Barrels, but this experience may have ruined my taste for the brand! In the past, maybe 6 months ago I would say this place was okay. BUT since then I feel that they have replaced their meats with what taste like artificial or reconstituted meats. First it was the meat bits in their Chefs salad. I changed over to their country boys breakfast with sirloin, which was tough, but "real". They replaced that with sirloin "tips" These were chewy and tasted artificial. On our last visit I ordered their Chicken & broccoli special, which I had liked in the past. Not this time ! These are my thoughts and observations. - It's a convenient food option if you're at the outlet mall. - I enjoyed the old-timey theme, though most items in the store don't match that concept. - Our waitress was attentive but a bit awkward. - We waited 20 minutes for our meal, which is average for a sit-down experience. - I was disappointed with the food. Worst Experience ever ! We were driving North from Florida all day looking forward to eating here. We had many positive experiences in the past at other Cracker Barrel locations. Something has changed. Hostess was so nice. She sat us at a table by the window. Server was so nasty. We ordered drinks. We are both over the age of 65, white hair & all. Server said no ID, no drinks. Although this was ridiculous, we said sure. The entire time the server made the experience so unpleasant. She was so aggressive, nasty & negative. She made everything so difficult. She served us a can of beer that was already open. We finally asked for a manager. The female manager on Saturday late afternoon was worse than the server. After we explained in detail what was going on, the manager put her hands on her hips & said, "what ? What's wrong ? What did she do to you" ? We told her, we just explained in detail. Then a male manager came over. We told him we thought it might be better if he sent a different server. We were so polite & tried to explain quietly the problem. We explained that the server was very negative, sarcastic & rude to us. He was just as bad. He said he would send us a different server if we would be nice to her. We responded that we were VERY nice. The server was so rude. We came to the restaurant for a pleasant meal & a nice time out. The result was just the opposite. So disappointing. Finally the food came out completely wrong. The fried eggs looked like fake plastic eggs from a child's kitchen play set. They were served one on top of each other. Our meals looked like someone sabotaged them on purpose. Not sure what restaurant would ever serve food in that manner. The toast came out 20 minutes after the eggs. Finally we decided it was time to leave. Our check was wrong. We were charged for steak tips, it took forever to get the check corrected. This location should be removed as a Cracker Barrel. Honestly, first time going to Cracker Barrel to see what the fuss was about. I always usually go to Waffle House. The food offerings are old fashioned style dishes like Chicken and Dumplings, breakfast foods, meatloaf, and the things that most relate to mother's cooking that takes all day. Unfortunately, they don't really use a lot of seasoning and the dishes are rather bland. I had the chicken and dumplings and felt really sad. It honestly tasted like chicken broth mixed with milk then cooked with biscuit dough. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Maybe it is because I cook a lot, I found myself not enjoying my meal. The price is relatively cheap, there is a ton of space and the staff is super friendly. The general store shop at the front is cool but people were cutting in the check out line because there really was no order to check out. In the end, I doubt I will be back. There are a lot of cheap places to eat out while on the road, a lot of them have flavor. I realize this place attempts to hit the nostalgia palette of those family dishes. The problem is, they may look like them, but they lack the savory finish. read more

Food: I had the pecan pancakes with a side of bacon. Absolutely delicious! Did I mention they brought out hot maple syrup! I will get the exact same thing next trip. Luckily for all of us, breakfast is served all day. Atmosphere: The restaurant and restrooms were clean. The old country store is always fun to shop in. They have lots of vintage things that bring back memories. Customer Service: The gal at the register was very kind and eager to help. Our waitress was great too! I was so disappointed when I ordered the "to go" service. I drove 22 minutes to pick up my food, just to get home and see that I was missing half my meal! Felicia was our waitress and she was nice but not a great waitress. She brought a tea spoon with our soup, a lot of the soup had been spilled onto the serving plate the bowl was on and the crackers were stale. We asked twice for blackberry jam and she brought blueberry and it took awhile for her to come back with the right flavor. She brought unsweetened tea when we asked for sweet. Besides that the service was ok. The food was sub-par today, usually better than today. Social distancing I guess is the reason the very back section open but if it's going to be open they should have all tables prepared for customers. We stopped there on our way down to FL. The hostess was not very good. She said masked were required, however, we saw lots of people going in without masks. She was not effective. Told us 20 mins, we waited 30 mins, then were told 15 more mins. We ended up eating outside in the cold. I order chicken pot pie, there was hardly anything in the pie. Few vegetables and counted 3 pieces of small diced chicken - terrible. If you are going to require masks, make sure everyone wears one. Very upsetting. read more

I worked at this location awhile back. When I couldn't access my W2's on line cause I couldn't remember my ID name and password. So, I went there and asked for the manager. When he came out, I told him the problem. He, told me that since I didn't worked that long he couldn't help, but he'll try to look it up. I probably waited about 15 or 20 minutes and he never returned back. I tried calling corporate office, but I never got any answer on the phone or their voicemail. read more
