But after my partner got a very good beard and goatee trim here, I figured I would check it out since I have the longer beard. The appointment was very easy to make online and the location was easy to access. The inside of the location is very nice looking. My barber was very skilled with beard trims and eyebrow waxing I might add, which was a nice experience. The hot towel as well as the relaxed nature of the place was a very good vibe. I've been a patron of Craft of Man for some time. For a long while I jumped around between barbers never really settling down. This lead to a lot of well intended appointments that were never made bc life got in the way and I just got busy. Then I had my first cut with Amber and everything has been consistent. Instead of 4-6 weeks between haircuts it's always made in advance and I'm no longer walking around with some shaggy hair. Amber is professional, friends, and efficient. I'm able to get in and out with an amazing cut within 20-30 minutes. She's always been available and I always appreciate her attention to detail. Despite the name, as a woman, I felt welcome to Craft of Man. Jennifer got me in the same day to do some "retrofitting" on a short haircut I had received at a salon a few days earlier. She was patient, attentive, and her expertise with a razor was exactly what was needed to make my pixie cut pop! I am so pleased with Jennifer and Craft of Man. The shop is really nicely appointed with clean lines and a very modern vibe. The fireplace is cozy and just the perfect touch. I love short hair but love it even more now that it's been redone right. I took a seat for about 20 mins just for 1 of the ladies to tell me they'll be with me shortly, another 20 mins go by and the lady tells me the next availability wasn't for another 4-5 hours! Always had good haircuts here. I just get a buzz so I can't comment on how great of haircuts they give, but they use metal guides on their clippers which always gives a better cut, and they take a straight razor to the back of my neck which is nice. Today, they were running around 15 late and I needed to be somewhere so I took off. Within five minutes of leaving, someone called to apologize, explained they were behind, and offered to reschedule the next day. Things don't always go as planned, but the extra touch helped. First visit here. Made an appointment online last night for a kids cut and it was easy. Was able to put my card on file which is nice as well. Jason was super cool to my 8 year old getting his first not Supercuts or mom in the bathroom haircut haha. He made small talk with him and engaged him in normal conversation, which my 8 year old enjoyed. My son just wanted his hair short, and Jason gave him exactly what he wanted! The dude knows what he is doing. He wields his tools with such confidence and such grace. Fam I will tell you right now this guy is the hair whisperer. I got that double crown jacked look in the back and this dude knew how to slide that mess into it's rightful place. And now I be looking super clean! I routinely get my undercut done here which includes a design with straight razor finish. Tyler always exceeds my expectations and makes sure I am comfortable. I was drawn to this shop because of the allure of a classy barbershop; SportsClips just wasn't cutting it, no pun intended, and I was definitely not about to trust them with my beard. Suffice it to say this barbershop did not disappoint! I went in this morning without an appointment hoping they might be able to squeeze me in at some point today. Jess greeted me right away in a very friendly manner, they were clearly busy considering they had two customers there right at opening, but she took a look at her schedule and said she could get me in just a couple hours later, sweet! When I went back for my appointment Jess was ready for me and greeted me with a polite "welcome back!". I gave her some very vague direction with what I was looking for, and she did did an amazing job with both my hair and my beard! What's better, she was a great conversationalist, very easy to talk to and not the awkward silent type, but also not so chatty you just want to get away. I usually go to a great barber shop on Alberta St. in Portland but it is a lot further than my hometown of Camas. I decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment through Yelp and got a reply and reservation in less than 10 minutes. Tamara was my barber and she cut it exactly how I usually get it cut, in fact even better. Atmosphere is nice, shop is clean and Tamara was very attentive. I would recommend having the mirrors moved to be vertical so you can see your whole self in the mirror. The mirrors are horizontal above the dressers. I made another reservation at C.o.M. through a phone call and requested Tamara again and she did an excellent job again. I would recommend making a reservation instead of just walking in, this isn't those fast haircut places, if you want that you can go there instead. Also, you get an old school single razor close shave behind your neck for that clean look. Try them out and support a local business. read more

I had no ill feelings nor did I represent any thing other than disappointment with my first comments. But after reading Jen P.'s reaction to my review I am angered at the misrepresentation. I never said I had not had a beard trim at a salon before. I have had many, scores, including for a two year period I went to a shop every two weeks for a beard trim. Also I have no lack of understanding for the terminology of hair or beards. I told the attendant I had actually cut hair and beards many years back when first living in Oregon in the Salem/Mt. Angel area. Both of these written comments by Jen P, are wrong and misrepresent fact. I will make one additional comment about the cut itself: This was the first time after many beard cuts that the attendant did not trim (for a man of my age of course) ear hairs, and brow hairs. A man's service when needed always includes these. (My wife trimmed them later in the evening after this experience.) This was not a typical man's beard service. Great experience, great atmosphere! This is not your typical barbershop where you are rushed through, they take their time to make sure that you hair cut and razor shave is done right. I had the privilege of having Heidi as my barber and she did a great job, she has a great personality and takes her time, paying attention to details, I never thought that there would be such a big difference in a "high end" barbershop vs an "average in and out" barber shop, WHAT A DIFFERENCE... The place looks great ( very spa like) but they don't do walk ins from what I can tell. Walked in at 11:55 to a completely empty shop. Could have just been bad timing on my part but the young lady asked if I had an appointment. I said no and jokingly asked if she could fit me in? She replied that she was expecting someone in 20 mins and asked if I could return later that day. Sadly I had only an hour and could not make it back in the afternoon. Arrived for my auto scheduled appointment. My hairdresser had left the business and apparently the system also auto deletes appointments as well. The stylist on duty simply stated that he only works there and it wasn't his system. I asked for a phone number as well to talk with management. He didn't have one to provide.
