Steve did a really great job helping me tame my beard. Excellent attention to detail. While waiting I saw that all of the other barbers had the same level of attention and gave some really nice cuts. Growing my beard out I needed a little help to tame it. Booked a haircut, beard trim with razor line up with Zack. All the guys there were great. Had me laughing and chatting. Normally I keep real quite. Zack did a great job taking care of me and I got one of the best cuts I have ever received. Plus they are very covid safe. I've been going to a chain Barber shop for the past few months since I moved to the Vancouver area. The haircuts have been hit or miss and honestly a little over priced. I took to Yelp looking for a new forever barbershop and I think I have found it. The shop was a little busy, but they are closed on SUN-MON and I went in on a Tuesday about 2 pm. The shop overall is clean and it was refreshing to see ALL the Barbers wearing a shop T-shirt. It shows pride in your shop and uniformity and consistency. Coming from a military background, this speaks volumes to me. On to the haircut. Juan (who is the owner) understood exactly what I was looking for and executed a clean skin fade and beard lineup. The hot towel line up and shave were clean and crisp, no steps skipped here and the end result was what I was looking for. The shop conversations. This is a crucial part of the barbershop experience. I must say all the guys in here follow sports, know how to hold an intelligent conversation, ask about you and your personal life, just overall a great experience. Even though some of the guys are Cowboys fans lol, we had a good chat and the mood was upbeat. Would highly recommend giving them a try if you need a good cut. The price. This can be a deciding factor for a lot of people, (myself included) and it was VERY reasonable for the level of service that it came with. My cut and shave came out to $23 and of course, I left a tip, but for under $30 for this great of service and such a clean cut, I will be calling this my new spot! They do accept cards here too with a Square reader, added bonus! read more

I haven't got my hair cut professionally for the last 12 years since shaving my head is pretty easy. But after seeing my brother's well groomed beard during his wedding and super clean straight blade shaved head (Steve's work) i had to give them a try. Upon entering the Barbershop, i knew i was in the right place since they were bumping 2pac rather than some top 40 radio station. Steve did an amazing job with the straight blade on my head, and my beard was in perfect shape. I think I'll treat myself to a monthly haircut from Kings Barbershop. UPDATE 8/19/207 Since i had such a great visit my first time here, i was really looking forward to becoming a long time patron. I still feel this place will give you an amazing quality haircut. Since i knew this place was super busy, i arrived 15 mins before they open. Unfortunately all the seats (including the waiting area) were already full. But since it was my day off i didn't mind waiting so i signed in on their check in board and waited outside the main door. 1.5 hours pass, and i check to see where i am on the board, i see that my name is erased, and I'm no longer in the queue despite waiting patiently outside. For all future clients, i recommend waiting inside the shop. and keep your ears open for your name. Relocated so I was trying to a find a barbershop nearby. After thinking about it, reading reviews and such, I decide d to give Kings Barbershop a try on my birthday. Upon entering, I was greeted by Ryan and I asked if they did walk ins. He said yeah and to sign up on the board for preference, if you don't have a preference, sign up with anyone. Since I had no preference, I signed up for the 3 available. Little did I know, I sat waiting for about 1.5 hours before it was my turn. It was a Wednesday and this place was packed. That said something! While sitting and waiting, I was peaking at all the barbers cuts and they were all clean so I wasn't worried about who I landed with. I did, however, end up with Juan! The guy is funny and reminds me of some old neighbors growing up. I told him what I wanted and he took it from there. End result was better than I expected. Juan did a fantastic job on my cut. I think I found my new barber! The vibe is great. The conversations that transpire are great. They have beer, which is great. ($3) The only negative is that they don't do appointments. It kind of sucks to wait awhile to get your haircut, but these guys are precise and are great with their craft so it's worth it, if you don't mind waiting. Juan told me he does appts early Saturday? So I may ask him next time I come in for a cut. I'll see how long I wait next time I go in or if I even have a long wait. TL/DR version: Great cut from a great modern barber in Vancouver no less. No more trips to Portland to get a good fade anymore. Full version: I have run the gamut of modern Portland barbers and they are good. Modern Man, The Throne, Rooks, Etc. I landed on the Throne for quite some time now and had great experiences but driving to Portland from Battle Ground and dealing with parking and the traffic to get my hair cut was proving to be a frustrating venture. I would go way too long between cuts just because I didn't want to take the time to do it. I have tried a few local hair cutteries and have never been satisfied, they just didn't understand the word fade or executive contour, they just chopped at my hair and I walked away with it shorter but never happy. Then I would wait for it to grow out and go back to Portland for them to fix it. Then I found King's Barber Shop. It is a modern barbershop in Vancouver! Imagine my excitement when I walked in to see a display of Layrite and Suavecito (Pomades) as well as Monkey Oil (Beard Oil). I thought, could this be my new barbershop?....we will see. I am here to tell you that after my cut I am convinced that this, in fact, is my new barber shop. Don't get me wrong, this is a barber shop and less of a hipster hang and experience than the Throne but I'm not going there to get a free shot of bacardi and feel like I stepped back in time to a speakeasy, I am going to get a good haircut and the overall oldschool, guys giving each other crap and random banter barbershop experience. I can't speak for the work of all the barbers but I ended up with Juan and he was great. Friendly, listened to what I wanted, asked questions about how I usually wear my hair and took time to make sure it was right. Great cut and great conversation that is what a good barber is and King's lives up to that. They also have a snack bar that serves drinks and various snack items for an additional charge if you find yourself in need of something. The thing that really shocked me was the end. I said "what do I owe you" the reply $15..What? He said that he has had people baulk at the $15 rate and I said oh shoot for real?...He said this isn't Portland. I was shocked because the going rate for my previous barbery experiences was $32. And I paid it over and over because it was a great haircut. but $15 you've got to be kidding me, this was a great haircut from a modern barbershop for only $15? For all of you that think $15 is too much I beg to differ. Modern Barbers are good at what they do and train and work hard, they deserve a fair rate for their services, THEY make YOU look good. I got a great cut and for less than half the price of Portland shops so I ask, is that Free shot of alcohol really free at the Portland establishments? Try this place out, bring my boy Juan some business and let's get some of the hipster crowd from Vancouver (I know some of you guys live north of the river because I have seen you) to take pride in a local barber right here in the Couve. Terrible Terrible service. -1 score I walked in the door and everyone stopped and looked at me, no one in the room asked if I need help they just stared at me. I spoke up and asked if they had any hair products one guy pointed to a shelf and said over there. I went to the shelf grab what I wanted and there was no one there to help me. I'll have to add it looked like the two guys behind the counter worked there and they were both on their phones looking at something not even wondering or asking if I needed help. Took my 12 year old son in to Kings today for the first time. Juan was highly recommended to us by a friend, but unfortunately Juan had several customers waiting. We decided to stay and try one of the other stylists. We signed up with RYAN...and couldn't have been more pleased. My son (Brayden) brought in a picture of a unique cut, with tricky fades and lines. RYAN was extremely detailed and showed a true concern for doing the job perfectly. He even stayed an hour after closing to make sure that he didn't miss any detail.
