So much so that Haniff did our entire wedding party before our big day. Haniff also gave our son his first straight razor shave which if we are being honest, is becoming a man moment. Be aware of traffic issues (no issue on the part of the business) and plan accordingly. Get there a bit early to enjoy their full service. Went in with just an idea of a hair cut, and many questions later, I left with that haircut. They are happy to do revisions the first few days, and I was able to walk in the next day to have it cut a little shorter. Cool space and comfortable chairs. Crazy.... man... so I call them to make an appointment at 12. Boom confirmed.... arrived 10 minutes early... they go ahead and pull someone else off the couch after I had already had an appointment. That's not all... these guys were nice enough to tell me they were running behind... cool I can understand a haircut going a little long than 12? But a whole another person dang.... dang..... this gets better. I go home, go to sleep because I work nights. And I wake up to missed calls from him, missed text that were very rude. Then he had the audacity to do something illegal.... I wrote a review about the situation which is the reason for the missed calls and text. But he decided to get my personal buisness involved.... lol we work with police and do investigations which is possibly the dumbest thing someone can do. But here we are. After my own little investigation. The texts and calls came straight from the owner himself . He even named the fake review on my company page on Google his cell phones CALLER ID ‍‍.... knowing it was illegal what he did I'm happy he deleted it immediately because a court date would of been set swiftly.... As a business owner.. you make mistakes and learn and grow... you get a bad review oh well. The last thing you ever do is go off on your customers because they left 1 bad review. I am new to the area and started calling for someone "skilled" enough to do a proper straight-blade shave and facial hair design work; think "Tony Stark" from Iron Man. Bineito answered the phone and said he was available. I loved the space--it was clean and well-lit. I understand limitations, but also appreciate grace with situations that are outside the norm. Extenuating circumstances if you will. Considering that, Tonsor has poor customer service in my book. My boyfriend had to miss his appointment to take me to the ER. He called before to see if he could change it to an open slot later that day (same day, was still very excited to go), and was told he'd have to take the no-show fee and book another appointment. Seeing as we were in the middle of something more pressing, he decided to call back later. After everything settled he called again to see if he'd be able to take the later slot - that was still open - to get his haircut in lieu of his earlier appointment. He explained that I'd had a medical emergency and he'd taken me to the ER, but there was no consideration of any kind given for the situation. I'm a little disheartened for him considering he'd been looking for a nice place to get his haircuts since we moved. In town for a conference and happened to walk by; Hanif and Shai welcomed me as a walk-in and even offered me something to drink while I waited. Coming into the house of a professional who has pride and passion in a work I so highly respect is one of the greatest pleasures I have had. Green Bay has Hansel Canady, who is young and hip, and almost a younger version of you. He has all the talent, the passion, the eye for detail and commitment to his clients. But he has a lot to learn yet before he will be at your level of sheer barbering expertise. He will be there, no doubt. The entire Packers team has him keeping them looking sharp. I thought I was going to miss him but I was lucky enough to go from the apprentice to the teacher. Vancouver, you have some good barbers and you are so lucky to have Hanif settle here to practice his pro-level scissor and blade witchcraft. Worth every minute. I'm bringing samples next time. Barbers pretty much need to use creams so these soaps will be for personal use. The latest from The Club/Ariana & Evans will blow your mind. If you love that high level of performance you get from Art Of Shaving creams you'll be amazed at the lather coming off a $15 puck of Peter's latest soap base. It's soft enough that you can actually lather it in a bowl while your client is under the towel. Amazing stuff that softens skin as it softens hairs and is the absolute shit when it comes to scent. You could be the exclusive Port/Van retailer of some of the world's greatest shaving products for home use. I don't sell the stuff but I know Peter makes the very best lather I've ever used--and I personally have many indeed. I'll also bring you some TOBS cream so you can compare it to similar AOS stuff. Personally I think they are close to equal scent wise and performance wise. But TOBS gets the nod because hey, it's got that Royal Warrant and it costs a third of the price. I'll also bring a couple razors that are perfect companions for your clients' home shave routines. My own personal stash. I'm not a salesman. I'm an evangelist. My job is done when my friend refuses to ever again shave with a can of aerosol goo from the grocery store or pay $2.50-$4 for a non-recyclable razor blade cartridge. When they throw $50 into a good DE razor and some good blades, get a nice tub of cream or soap, matching aftershave, a bottle of witch hazel and maybe a good balm, I call it a success because they will soon be getting up 20 minutes earlier every day for the enjoyment of a shave that used to be an unpleasant chore. We can't get a real barber shave very often, but the amazing array of upgrades for the personal shaving experience is almost limitless, and can fill the gap between visits to the Tonsorial Parlor with amazing, healthy, fragrant and relaxing moments at home. Every good barber has an opportunity to open this world for his clients. It may be an exclusive selection of software with traditional shaving creams, soaps, splashes and balms and a couple of high quality inexpensive razors and blades to help carry home the high end feel you get at the shop. I don't know if you want to carry inventory beyond the usual barbering staple pomades and beard products but very few shops have any of this stuff and generally the people who dig it cluster around good barbers.
