Today there were only 2 people working and they were chatting with a non-employee every time I went up to ask a question about a coupon. I gave up and got in line to check out. One employee was checking out another person and the second employee told me to use a self-checkout. I was really hoping a new store would be better. Maybe I got there at a bad time? 4:15 on a Monday. Using the coupon just wasn't worth it unfortunately.

i've been here twice and honestly will probably never be back. the first time was very neutral, the…read morewomen working were kinda just like oh a person and left me alone. no problem with that, id rather people be neutral than anything. the selection is kinda ? large but not super diverse if that makes sense, at least for yarn. also a bit old, but i don't mind. found some nice discontinued yarn cheaper than it costs currently! the reason i probably will not be back is the last time, when i walked in whoever was at the register just gave me a look like i ruined her entire day because i exist. it just kinda put me on edge and started making the store feel cramped and like i really just needed to leave, grabbed some needles and a crochet hook i needed and when i went to pay the woman at the register just. had such an evil look on her face any time she looked at me. when i paid she made sure to hand my change back by sitting it on the counter over to the side and did the same with my items despite me reaching for them? the only thing i said to her was hi how are you when i entered. i just found that odd, any time i've done things like that as a cashier was with an unruly customer as my way of being petty. when i use these needles i just think of how i felt so uncomfortable i was literally shaking. there's literally no reason for that, it's a craft store. i get that's a common theme in craft stores but jesus christ, this is why i unfortunately purchase online mostly rather than supporting my local stores.

This is the place to go!…read more I've been frustrated by the limited selection of home décor and upholstery fabrics in the Columbus area, so I decided to use my day off to drive to Waynesville and check out Fabric Shack. I was already thrilled with the selection when Jessie casually let me know there's a SECOND FLOOR. In fact, about 60% of their stock is upstairs. And when I say their selection is extensive, I mean EXTENSIVE. Whatever you're looking for for your home, there's a very good chance they'll have something that works. And if you don't find exactly what you're looking for in the store, their enormous library of swatch books can help fill in the gaps. But what really impressed me was the service. This is the kind of store where they genuinely take care of you. A few examples from my visit: * I was greeted warmly when I walked in and offered assistance and fabric swatches multiple times without ever feeling pressured. * I overheard Jessie helping a customer track down a very specific fabric from a manufacturer in New York that had recently stopped producing it. He remembered the customer from a previous interaction, knew details about the manufacturer, and was able to suggest places they might be able to find the now-out-of-print fabric. * Gail helped me select and purchase fabric to reupholster my dining chairs. When we noticed a flaw in the fabric, she immediately cut me a new length and told me they would never knowingly sell fabric with a flaw. * When I mentioned to Gail that I had recently moved to the area, she took a few minutes to chat with me and made me feel completely at home. I don't have a ton of upholstery or home projects on my plate right now, but when I do, this is where I'm going. It was absolutely worth the drive from Columbus, and I'm already looking forward to my next project just so I have an excuse to go back.

This store used to be, years ago, "Ben Franklin" which was a fabric and craft store franchise, which no longer exists other than as a brand name which can be used for a fee. The owner, Dawn (a charming and hospitable lady who told me exactly where to find everything I asked about) explained that they didn't care to do so, and the store has been Fourman's Variety for quite some time. And variety is what you will find in this very large and thoughtfully arranged shop. Everything from spices and kitchenware, puzzles and games for all ages, school supplies and stationery, to greeting cards, gift wrap, housewares, pool supplies, pet needs, seasonal decor, giftable items, and a full aisle of candy with many nostalgic classics. PLUS a whole room of fabrics and sewing accessories, and a wall or two of crafting supplies. And....tons of used books for sale! Prices were quite reasonable throughout. Store is open six days a week, parking on the street. I am thrilled to have found this great variety store. Honestly, do you really want to spend your money at Dollar General or Walmart? Another incredible find, on my day trip to Chillicothe! A store front mixed into the downtown…read moreshops. Lots of space to move around. Cleaning organized fabrics. Walk toward the back corner, you'll see a hodgepodge of clearance cloth. There are finished quilts hanging all around. My eye caught the design of a turquoise/purple/yellow print quilt. If the people here weren't so darn polite and friendly, I would have grabbed that lap-covering and run. So, I decided on the next best think: chat with the lady that works their, and see if she has a kit. Bummer - no kits left. The lady and I talked for a good fifteen minutes. We were able to iron out all the kinks. She offered to make me a kit (she cuts all the fabric!!) using all the original fabrics. If she happens to come short on a print? She'll substitute another print from that line that looks just as good. I was thrilled! For just over $80, I got an awesome quilt kit. The pattern, prints, and colors are just my style! I'm excited to return and pick it up, in a few weeks!
