From the second you walk in the front door you are greeted by the lovely ladies offering to point you in the right direction. As I was looking for fabrics/panels/patterns that were unique to the area, and that I knew I could not get from home, I was looking at their selection of outdoor/wildlife panels. When the staff realized I was overwhelmed by the rows and rows of fabric choices, they brought out their "panel book" which had pictures of all their stock. organized by category- such a great idea! As I wandered through the store, picking up things along the way, the staff made sure to bring my choices back to a "waiting area" table with a "Still Shopping" sign on top so I did not have to carry everything with me and there was no rush or pressure to finish my shopping. I truly appreciated this! I noticed there was a large room in the back that was set up for classes, which I am sure are very popular. With so many craft & fabric stores going out of business or selling out to big-box stores where you lose the customer service, it was so nice to visit a store that still understands what their customers want!

The surveillance setup feels like a DIY project--cameras scattered around at face level, pointed directly at you in a way that's more uncomfortable than reassuring. And while someone was technically "working," the employee stayed behind the counter the entire time, fully absorbed in sketching or coloring. No greeting, no acknowledgment, no glance up to see who was in the store. Just a placeholder presence, not someone actually running the shop. It's a good store with solid inventory, but the customer‑service experience drags it down.

Bay Books and Prints is a great bookstore. They have a large selection of great used books that you…read moreprobably couldn't find anywhere else. They even have antique prints and interesting maps of Montana. Pat is so kind and friendly and may have some nice stories to share with you. He also knows a great deal about history, especially about the history of Montana. Looking at the incredible quality of these older and newer books, I thought for sure some of them would be about a hundred dollars at least, but they were only twenty dollars or so. Some of the books even have that beautiful old-fashioned hardcover with fabric and detailed binding. For the amount of information, and the great quality of the books, you cannot simply past up on the great value you will receive at Bay Books and Prints. Please, do not skip this bookshop on your visit to the Flathead Valley!
