Doctor Craig should be aware of how patients are being treated by the front office. I had an extremely unpleasant experience with Angie while trying to resolve an issue regarding my Cigna insurance and the covered alternatives to Suflave. I was simply trying to explain that my insurance covers an alternative prep solution and that I wanted to use the option covered by my plan. Instead of allowing me to explain, Angie repeatedly spoke over me. I politely asked her to please let me finish speaking, but she continued interrupting me. The call then disconnected. About a minute later, she called back and stated that the call had been disconnected accidentally. However, when I called back and identified myself and said I wanted to cancel both of my procedures because of how I had just been treated, the call was disconnected again. This entire situation was completely unnecessary. Patients pay for health insurance for a reason. If Cigna approves a covered alternative to Suflave, I should be able to discuss that option with the office without feeling pressured to purchase the prep solution sold directly through the office or being given a difficult time for wanting to use the medication covered by my insurance. What makes this even more disappointing is that I was only about a week away from my procedure, and I had not received an appropriate follow-up regarding these details. Instead, I ended up dealing with this type of treatment from the front office. I do want to recognize Sherma, the office manager, who was sweet, professional, and kind when I spoke with her. Unfortunately, that positive interaction was overshadowed by everything that followed. I ultimately canceled both procedures. No patient should have to argue simply to use an insurance-covered medication, and no patient should be spoken over or treated disrespectfully when asking a legitimate question about their care and insurance coverage. After this experience, I will be taking my care elsewhere. If you want a competent medical marijuana doctor, I suggest you see MMTC of Florida at https://www.mmtcfl.com/ Dr. Amshel prescribes 1/8 of medical marijuana compared to what two other competent doctors prescribe. He is not RISKING HIS LICENSE if he does just as the other two doctors do. Dr. Amshel, you couldn't pay me to return to your practice. I went to Dr. Amshel for a second opinion and based on a previous doctor's records he said I needed to have gall bladder surgery. I could not eat, lost 40 pounds, constant abdominal pain, anemic hemoglobin of 8.0, urinary tract infections,and a fecal test showing blood in my bowels, he still felt it was my gall bladder. After an endoscopy and then a colonoscopy, his findings saw nothing wrong. Surgery was scheduled but I couldn't wait. I went to the emergency room at St. Joseph's in Riverview, Florida and they suggeted gastroparesis. They sent me home. The next week i went to Advent Health Emergency in Riverview . They did an endoscopy and couldn't see because so much blood clouded the view. By this time, I lost another 15 lbs and weighed 94 lbs. My hemoglobin dropped further to 6.0 or below. They drained the blood from my stomach and repeated the endoscopy 5 days later and found a duodenal ulcer so large that it blocked my stomach from emptying. It was so large and there was so much scar tissue thst it would never open again ,confirmed by one more endoscopy at a later date. I had surgery to cut a new hole in my stomach and connect to my intestines. After 17 days in the hospital, blood transfusions and a drain through my nose to my stomach, I am finally healing and still have my gallbladder. No more pain. I ended up having a Laparoscpic Gatrojejunosomy. Sorry two doctors and one emergency room found nothing. I have been treated by Dr Amshel on several occasions including endoscopy's and colonoscopy's. I have found he and his staff to be very professional, caring and empathetic. Joan Amshel was so attentive post op that I have nothing but praise for her as well. I trusted Dr Amshel enough to perform a procedure on my teenage son. The procedure was successful and the Doc's follow up was a welcomed relief. Dr Amshel is one of the few physicians that seems to actually take the time to listen and he takes the time to make sure you understand his suggestions. That surely seems rare these days. I did not call to cancel the appointment, I called to discuss the paperwork and my desire not to sign the arbitration agreement and was clearly told that I would not be seen if it wasn't signed. Go to this guy for an umbilical hernia repair and end up with a broken jaw. I tried for months to resolve this with Thalia. She was rude and tried to talk down to me like I was a piece of garbage. Now he has turned me over to collections and ruined my credit because he does not uphold his hippocratic oath. He provided the surgery center but does not feel any sense of responsibility. And exactly what were they doing that they broke my jaw doing a hernia mesh implant? I am left with no alternative but to take this to court. read more

I was told if I take down my OTHER REVIEW this dr will see me, NO THANK YOU! I was so stressed out over the several calls I received by this staff! who does that? This staff in front made it very clear they ran the show by telling me they have been working in the office for over 4 years, who on a professional level says that? I did everything I was supposed to do but when you have staff members treat patients like dirt these reviews come out and they don't like it. None of these reviews seem to be by anyone who actually got surgery from him. How ridiculous. I have and I will tell you to trust him unconditionally. He is very caring, very intelligent, very practical, and excellent at what he does. His staff is also great. I don't know what these people expected or if they're talking about the surgery center instead of his office specifically, but everyone at his office has been great with me. And if they're not with you, maybe it's your own negative vibe or you should get over it to have an excellent surgeon who cares about more than getting you in and out like a head of cattle just to have another bill. read more

I saw Dr. Craig Amshell at LoCicero Medical Group on July 19th for a general surgery procedure that I had to go through. After seeing me, they gave me an appointment for September 26th, which is more than 2 months away. Since I didn't have any other option, I accepted that. For the two months from July 19th, I never heard back from them. When I called them in September to find out more details about the procedure, they told me that they have not scheduled it. The next available date was October 18th, which is 3 months away from my original appointment date. They wasted two months of my time and I was struggling with pain due to their negligence. Now, I have to find a new doctor and go through this process all over again. NEVER EVER TRUST DR. Called to ask the office for a lab order four days after visit, was told I had to come back in (take more time off work) and pay another large co-pay to get that piece of paper. Scheduled a diagnostic procedure over the phone, they called two days in advance to tell me what time to be there. When I asked for details, time and cost, I was told that would be explained 5 minutes prior to the procedure. I told them they would need to have someone call me today or reschedule because I'm not going into a procedure with no information. They told me I'd have to pay $100 cancellation fee, said it was my problem to call my insurance and determine the cost and that no doctors provide these details in advance. I've had many medical procedures and all of these details are always provided in advance. Office staff is mean, uncaring and unprofessional. read more
