I cannot thank the entire ER team enough for the incredible care my husband received during his visit to St. Joseph's South Hospital on September 9th. We arrived at approximately 9 p.m., and from the moment we pulled up in front of the ER, we felt welcomed and cared for. Tiffany, a pharmacy technician, greeted us with a wheelchair. She was kind, compassionate, and efficient as she helped my husband out of the car. While I parked our car, she stayed with my husband and assisted him with the check-in process and escorted us to his room. The triage and nursing staff were prompt, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. His nurse, Steven, explained every step of the process, which helped calm my husband's nerves and made him feel safe and comfortable in his care. Steven listened carefully to my husband's concerns and took the time to listen to me as well. Although the emergency room was busy, the entire staff worked seamlessly together to ensure my husband was comfortable and well cared for. Everyone treated us with kindness and professionalism, and we truly appreciated the teamwork and compassion shown throughout the visit. Even the discharge process was smooth and straightforward, with clear instructions provided to both my husband and me. We were incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated personnel such as Tiffany and Steven caring for us at St. Joseph's South. Their compassion and professionalism made a stressful situation much easier. We are so glad St. Joseph's South Hospital opened in Riverview, and we are grateful to have this wonderful resource in our community. read more

This review ONLY pertains to the treatment I received by the triage nurse on duty 9/24/26 at approximately 10:30 am. All further care I received was exceptional. I arrived in my pajamas as I was feeling horrible...suspected kidney infection and or stones. I was in a tremendous amount of pain. I couldn't even stand to complete the check-in...my husband had to finish that for me. I waited maybe 5 minutes to be called back to triage. The nurse asked if I could walk and I said I could as it wasn't too far from the waiting room. I did as she asked: stepped on the scale; explained why I was in the ER, etc. She proceeded to take my bp and it registered 160/102. I told her that it's probably correct given the amount of pain I was in. She proceeded to take it again and received a much lower reading. She then placed the thermometer under my tongue and i knew I was going to pass out. After she removed the thermometer from my mouth, I told her such and she coldly snapped, "No you're not! Your vitals are fine." I told her that I was and asked her if I could lay down for a second. She told me no because there weren't any beds available and I would have to return to the lobby. She asked if I could walk and I emphatically told her no that I was going to pass out. I remained in the chair with my head in my lap. She told me to sit back but I felt more comfortable seated hunched and forward. She asked if I needed a wheelchair and I told her yes but she seemed bothered to have to get it (I don't recall if she even helped me into it). As she was wheeling me back to the lobby I told her again that I was going to pass out and again she said, "You're fine.". We get back to the lobby and I tell my husband that I'm going to pass out but the nurse again snaps and says, "She's fine. She's not going to pass out." (per my husband bc I don't remember) because within seconds of her leaving I PASSED OUT in the lobby! I was respectful. I didn't curse. I didn't yell. I repeatedly communicated how I felt and I was dismissed. Per my husband: he stood up and yelled for help, the nurse who wheeled me out probably heard the commotion but per him, she didn't come out to assist. From that point forward, the care I received was top notch. I am a person who does not seek medical care unless I absolutely need it. My fear of doctors is that I won't be believed and this experience punctuates my concern. Please do better. read more

A disappointing and painful experience. Went in with a severe allergic reaction including Periorbital Edema, erythema and scaling with both eyes along with two other issues with one finger and my middle back. The triage evaluation staff member wrote "Rash" on the intake sheet, delaying my being seen. When I finally saw one of the doctors, he took my finger between his fingers with both hands and squeezed very hard, causing pain of which I made him aware and he continued squeezing an already very sensitive and painful area. Less than compassionate and effectively causing more pain than I went in with, the result was not at all helpful. I ultimately had to see another doctor asap outside of this ED and received the attentive, professional and much needed care that should have been provided by this Emergency Department. Will avoid this ED if possible moving forward. read more

The doctors were fast when it came to my emergency c section. And the nurses were very attentive and didn't dismiss my questions or my concerns. All the staff who took care of me were professional and nice. I would recommend this hospital 100% if you were going to deliver you baby. Mind you this was in 2024. I know everyone has different experiences though. I only decided to give a review because I saw they weren't getting enough positive reviews but my experience was very positive. read more

If you are looking for an organized and seamless experience this hospital is not for you. We had a scheduled procedure, arrived 30 minutes early to be sure we were good to go. It took them over an hour to even acknowledge that we were here (even though the online pre-registration had been completed). Two additional hours to be get back to the actual doctor. When questioned the response was oops, somehow you had been discharged... THIS WAS BEFORE EVER SEEING A DOCTOR!! Inefficient and incompetent is an understatement. read more

First time here a few weeks ago. I came for surgery prep and then a week later for the actual surgery. I arrived and went through security, then checked in with information desk and gave me instructions on where to go. Staff is very friendly. The care I received for surgery prep and surgery was excellent. My nurses, anesthesiologist, and doctor took great care of me. They even called me the day after my surgery to check on me. Went to the emergency room for palpitations. At no time did I say I was having chest pain even though every new nurse and staff asked. After several hours and blood tests for a heart attack they started pushing a night of observations and an echocardiogram the next day. I I had a heated argument over my staying with the NP and about their not identifying the type of arrythmia I was having as that was the sole reason for my being there. She said they didn't find any on my initial EKG. I complained that if their emergency EKG monitors, that I was hooked up to for hours weren't showing arrythmias then I wasn't a heart patient as I was having the sensation regularly ever since I arrived. I told her that if it wasn't my heart then the sensations were probably do to my GERD...that I told them about. I had asked them to call my cardiologist and the NP said he recommended that I stay the night and so I acquiesced. She left the room apparently annoyed over our discussion as was I. I was about to be taken up to my room when another nurse showed me a print off from my monitoring EKG and said that I was having PACs. It appeared the print was make only a few minutes earlier. No comments were made as to what PACs were or meant. When I got settled in my room I googled PACs only to find that they were uncomfortable at times but benign and not something treated. Upon further research there were lists of possible PAC triggers that could be avoided or managed...GERD being one. I also discovered that most if not all hospital monitoring EKGs have their alarms off for benign arrythmias so as to avoid alarm fatigue. There is no doubt in my mind that the emergency room ignored my arrythmias until I complained to the NP about not identifying them. I stayed the night, got awakened for BP/Temp/O2 tests several times. Blood was taken for a lipid panel roughly 6 hours after I ate? The echocardiogram was done by 8AM and the results published at 2PM? A NP from my cardiologist's office stopped by at 10AM to ask me about the nature of my chest PAIN!...she said that was what the hospital staff said I was having. I told her to find the liars. The point here is I believe the hospital lied when they contacted my cardiologist the day before. I will discuss the situation with my cardiologist when I meet with him next week. I'm hoping he sees my concerns and recommends a different hospital. I'll finish up by saying GERD stopped, arrythmias stopped, echocardiogram results said normal, negative on heart attack tests. My insurance won't cover the cost of the room...deductibles on everything else! I lost the better part of a day. I endured the agony and fear of not knowing what was causing my discomfort or my health status hours longer than I needed to! What a bunch of bastards? read more

But now, they performed surgery on roommate today and discharged him and let him drive himself home. Wtaf? He's a mess and he needs to be tended after. I am not a nurse nor is it my job to take care of someone who just had surgery and should still be in hospital at least overnite. The sick care in this country is appalling. He's limping around house with a catheter and carrying a urine bag. What kind of sadistic place let's a patient leave and drive like this?! I am disabled and in no position to help him. Smh. Worlds WORST emergency hospital ever idek where to start nobody there has any urgency like it's not an ER... and don't get me started on how it's takes 2+ plus hours to get into a room and then another 2+ to get your results from blood work... shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes to get blood work results. If you are delivering here and get Nurse Megan or nurse Justine on the 3rd floor, ASK for another one. Nurse Megan was the most passive aggressive nurses who loved to "bully" us (her words!) even though we had a c section. We wanted to leave early because of HER. I don't know who hurt her but it wasn't us. She shouldn't be near people. Nurse Justine was useless and had to be told what to do. I want to leave 5 stars because the 2nd floor and nicu team is phenomenal. But that 3rd floor mother baby unit nurses are a hit or miss. Nurse Kara and PCT Athyna were amazing!!!!!! Thank you so much to them. They were phenomenal and need a raise. Some other nurses you need to stop wasting your money on. read more

My husband had surgery on his foot today and the discharge process started about 11am. As of 3:30pm we are still waiting. Nurse Chantelle on the 4th floor really needs some time management skills. At 11am, she said she'd work on the discharge paperwork as his antibiotics were finishing. As of 2pm, she advised us she had not started. Nilufer was training another tech and didn't seem to know what needed to be done and what didn't. What should have had us home by lunchtime, has had us wasting a complete day here without anything more than an apology. read more

Husband went into ER with chest pains, sat in the waiting room for over 4 hours. Will never return, run from this place. They don't staff correctly, they don't prioritize, they take you on a first in basis without considering the reason you are there. Most staff was nice but that doesn't help when they don't treat the emergency. I wouldn't even call it an emergency room. read more

I have never rated a hospital before, but we had such a good experience here that I just felt the need to rate them. My husband was scheduled for a colonoscopy and from the minute we arrived, until they rolled him out to our car, we were treated like royalty. A greeter at the front desks takes you to the appropriate check in area, and then another escorts you to the waiting room for the procedure. All the nurses during his prep work were friendly and attentive. The physicians were all informative and friendly. The rooms were comfortable, had individual TVs and were quiet. Can't remember when I have had a better experience at a hospital. Thanks to our essential workers!!!! read more

Location of this hospital right off I-75 exit 264 in Riverview. Hospital parking is convenient. Staff is friendly. I have to say the service received from ER admit, to RN and CNA, surgical staff EVERYONE I came across was pleasant and helpful. I really appreciated the way the staff treat the patient and visitors, very welcoming, attentive and hospitable. Hospital itself is beautifully laid out. Directions are simple and clear, able to get around without feeling lost. No issues at all with any area being dirty or disorganized. read more

My son was delivered here in November, first time dad here. And I can truly say the nurses there were nothing but nice and friendly. They had answers to all my questions they were more than happy and willing to help when needed. They made the entire process as smooth as possible for my wife and I. I must say it was a 10/10 experience actually the dad couch wasn't to great lol so maybe 9.5/10. Honestly wouldn't go anywhere else to deliver a baby in this part of the state. read more

I've been here before and received great care. I had emergency surgery in January and doctors were great staff was excellent everybody was phenomenal. Today I'm back I've been here since 10:30 PM. It's now 2:22 AM and still no IV, bloodwork or anything. I was taken back to the room at approximately 1:38 AM. Doctor came in pretty fast. Nurse came in finally with an attitude and I told her how horrible the wait was and she said sometimes it's going to be like that because it's an emergency room. I understand that and I'm also here because of an emergency. I also understand there's a lot more emergencies more urgent than mine. I told the nurse I wanted Guest Relations! I wanted to speak about the awful care I've received. But why?? Nobody has come to speak with me. And I am even treated worse this is unacceptable. Can't believe I was besieged by excessive marketing phone calls to my hospital room. On day 1 by 7:00 pm I had 6 phone calls. Sam, a guy with a heavy foreign accent, was responsible for 3 calls. Past Hospital stays never had these intrusive phone calls. Calls have nothing to do with providing quality healthcare. In fact they are annoying and irritating. My spouse was brought into this facility via EMS with severe chest pain. I was not sure where they had taken him. By the time I found out where he was. It was several hours later when he messaged me and was still sitting in the ER without having received any treatment.. right He arrived around noon, and when I arrived after 5 PM nothing had been done to help him. He had no pain medication, no Nitro drip that he was supposed to get what he indicated as hours prior when the nurse said that they would start one they had to IVs ready to go yet did nothing with them. Nor did they offer him basic oxygen. I thought he was exaggerating until I arrived there, and nothing had been done which subsequently upset me because his medical history indicates that he is atypical when he presents serious symptoms of cardiac distress. I have always had good things to say about St Joes hospital in general, but this one was an exception. I knocked on the door to the nurses station next to my husbands room. Someone came out he had someone of a bad attitude. I told him that I would be signing my husband out AMA and will be taking him someplace else. I assume he did not realize that we could hear the conversation between him and what I believe to be the physician that should've been treating my husband when he told him that we were signing him out...no one ever came out and said anything the doctor never presented themselve...I picked up my husbands things we had his IV's removed and I took him away to another facility, I did not sign anything....they didn't ask me to. It was just totally unprofessional and uncaring.. I realize a lot of places are understaffed right now, but if you don't like your job, then you need to go find a different one, because dealing with patients in serious and stressful situations is cause for some type of professionalism, empathy and most importantly, for everyone is to do your job and do it to the best of your ability, not leave patient sitting in the room alone for hours and not giving them updates or doing what you told them that you would do when it could be a life-threatening situation! Hung up on when calling to ask why Baycare cancelled my sons surgery hours before. Son needs tubes and has lost most of his hearing and surgery was supposed to happen in less the 24 hours and was cancelled as apparently pediatrics will not perform a tubes surgery due to the pediatrics anesthesiologist uncomfortable with completing the surgery even though the doctor is ready and this was cleared/scheduled over a month ago. My son has lost most of his hearing and is losing more due to St. Joseph's Hospital Souths incompetence. My wife is a nurse for BayCare and works hard to be rewarded with her sons surgery being cancelled after jumping through scheduling hoops. I called politely and just said I would like to speak to someone in Leadership or Patrick Downes and was told they have no idea how to do that. Updated 3/18/24 If I could give "0 stars" I would. BayCare is terrible! I've been disputing the level 3 ER description now for two months. On February 29th, 1:42pm a "Head Physician" at St Joseph's South call me and state why I was charged and evaluated at a level 3, which I understood but stated AGAIN my case and HE asked "How Much Could You Pay"? Which in return I said 50% off the bills (which is still a lot). Then the head physician "not EMA" said he would reach out to billing and change for me and to look for adjusted statements. Guess what? Nothing took place! Instead I get another email saying I spoke with EMA and nothing is getting adjusted for me! How great of a feeling is that? I even called back to Customer care rep and asked about my bill and told her my story and she said that IT could pull the call made to find out who I actually spoke to. I wish I had his name but I was emotional at that time. Now im going to Patrick Downs and anyone else that I need to reach because now this is unacceptable! December 15th, 2023, I arrived at St. Joseph's Hospital South in Riverview Fl, around 11am, same day and checked in. A nurse called me to the examination room to take vitals and after vitals were taken, I went back to the waiting area. An hour went by, and I was then called to triage area when another RN spoke to me about my symptoms and went over my paperwork from TGH Urgent Care which stated request of CT scan. She examined me and stated that the CT scan was NOT necessary and then she prescribed me with amoxicillin (14 pills) and Steroid Nasal Spray {which could have been prescribed to me at TGH Urgent Care). Fast forward, a few days later after taking the medication I was cleared up and fine again. On 1/6/24 I received an email from BayCare Health System that stated that there was a new statement / correspondence available online. After contacting customer service to help me view statement I saw the statement balance owed was $2,141.00. My insurance only $462.46 of the invoice which left me with the remainder of the balance of $1,678.54. Then I received a "Doctors invoice" on top of the Baycare invoice, so my total outstanding out of pocket bill(s) are coming out to $1,953 just for Amoxicillin and a steroid nasal spray! Also, I never saw a doctor. Being that the only thing done by the St. Josephs South staff was check my vitals and write a script (Which could have been done by urgent care, which scared me over to the ER at ST. Josephs South Hospital earlier that same day and then sent me their own invoice!) I would like this amount to be reevaluated, as I simply cannot afford this ridiculous amount. Whether I went through the doors of an ER or scheduled this through my physician which in retrospect I should of done, I simply can't justify this. My wife and I brought our infant son to the same ER in August, that bill was $4864 before any insurance adjustment (my wife's insurance) - the only thing done for him was again, vitals, nothing more. I'm astonished at the differentiation in both cases. Not to mention, during my sons visit in August my wife and I both felt that his care was handled very poorly. But that is a different issue all together. I'm asking that a director/supervisor reach out to me to discuss best options, and next steps. The hospital staff was good and nothing wrong by them as far as my own experience, I can't say the same for my infant son. I've contacted Baycare by phone and spoke to representative and they emailed me an audit form for my case and said to fill out and return which I did almost a month ago and I've still received no answer. I've sent multiple messages through the Baycare portal and no response. I'm requesting a humane look into my case (whether it from the Director of the hospital / Baycare or whoever) and asking for major help and not just the run around speech. I live in Riverview and this treatment on the back end will never lead me back to this hospital ever again in the future. Nobody wants to go to an emergency room, or worse, get admitted. But it is good to know that there is a state of the art community hospital in Riverview. The staff, nurses, and doctors were all nice, caring, and professional. Everyone made an effort to explain what they were doing and treat me as quick as possible. This hospital is only three years old and already undergoing expansion. While the waiting room in the emergency dept can be crowded, the staff does a good job triaging the patients, so the more serious cases get taken first. If you are admitted, all of the rooms are private. All the staff were professional and courteous. All meals are ordered using a menu. There are a lot if choices and the food is decent. There are several waiting areas on each floor with vending machines, tv's and phone charging stations. There is both free self parking and valet. read more

A friend was getting surgery here so we decided to go pay them a visit. Parking and directions weren't bad at all but going inside the hospital was a nightmare. We saw people coming out of the visitor entrance by the visitor parking lot but we weren't able to go in, not sure why? So we went around to the emergency entrance where they told us to check in. The communication and directions were horrendous. The emergency check in was the wrong place we needed to be and we had to wait with sick people for 15 minutes before they told us at the counter. They re-directed us to the other side of the building for visitors and we had to walk all the way over there. It would have definitely be helpful if they had signs to direct you where you needed to go. I've had nothing but bad experiences with St. Joseph hospitals so I'm not surprised but it is such an inconvenience. read more

My wife went in emergency because she could not walk. They found no blood pressure and severely dehydrated and what we thought was hemorrhoids was colon cancer. She got admitted and for almost 2 weeks they have been trying to get her vitals stable. Only 1 care team for 12 rooms and my wife sat in feces and urine long period of time. She was complaining about the care she was getting and how long she had to wait. I went and talked to the nurse station and let them know and maybe in a hard way but no disrespect but firm. After 12 days her vitals were improving and then she got newmoania in her lung and the 2nd time she got it, they described as substantial fluid in her lung 1st they started treatment and then it was decided that they would drain it. I went home and wife called and said they were going to fit her in for surgery to remove the cancer and put a poop bag. My first thought was she is not stable enough to for that kind of surgery and research it and found that it was a high risk and she could stop breathing during g surgery. I called the nurse station and said I was recording this conversation and nurse said she did not feel comfortable on a recorded line. So I said I would call her back. I'd called back and heard the hospital record all calls so I'd told the nurse this and I was fine with that. I tries to tell nurse my concern and that I'd feared for her safety that the surgery could kill her because of the fluid. Really didn't get far so I'd hung up and told my wife to tell them not to have any colon surgery til the fluid was resolved. I call the hospital the next morning and asked for the hospital administrator to tell them my concern first they dismiss and compassion but then told me they would have the general physician call me, which he did and told me that the colon surgery was still a go and after hearing my concerns,he agreed and called me back and told me it cancel due to the fluid issue. Then I went to go see my wife for the fluid draining procedure. And at checking I was told that I was trespassed and I was to leave. I left and call the hospital to find out what was going on and they told me that I'd had threatened the nurse for her safety. Not true! Just because the nurse was a female she had take part of what I said and used it. What I'd has said was I fear for her life because she has fluid in her lungs. Now the hospital says it records all calls and if someone would listen to that recording then they would hear the truth and let me see my wife. She only has her husband here with no other support. I just left the labor and delivery department. They kept my daughter here overnight. And overheard the nurse mocking my daughter to the midwife as I was walking out. ( midwife tries to hush her since she saw me but I had already heard her) Now my daughter said they were very unprofessional and acted like they didnt care or believe how she felt all night. I had a TRIPLE HERNIA REPAIR done, March 23, 2021. Dr. Sigman did great. The POST SURGICAL CARE was the problem. I have attempted to contact the hospital and inform them of the issue's that FORCED ME to leave this location, in fear for my life! The doctors seem less concerned that their "TEAM" is mistreating the RECOVERING PATIENTS. On or about March 25, 2021 @ about 9am, TWO doctors came to my room to check on me. Without delay, I explained to BOTH DOCTORS, "PLEASE don't send me home and release me yet. I haven't had a bowel movement and I'm STILL in a TON of PAIN. The pain seems to increase when laying down or sitting and all I can do is stand. I have a 18 month old AUTISTIC CHILD that loves using me to climb, for entertainment. You send me home TODAY, BEFORE I HAVE HAD A BOWEL MOVEMENT, I will be back tomorrow, but in the ER". One doctor replied, "WE DON'T CONCERN OURSELVES WITH YOUR CHILDREN, we will be releasing you soon" and walked out. The second doctor just SHRUGGED his shoulders and walked out. That afternoon, at 6pm, the nurse entered with discharge papers. At 6:30pm, I was heading home. STILL NO BOWEL MOVEMENT WITH INCREASING PAIN!!! The evening of March 25th of 2021, I was in so much pain, I couldn't sit. My body was sweating from the pain and I started feeling VERY SICK. I was UNABLE to sit or lie down from 9pm on March 25th, 2021, untill March 26th, 2021 at 7am. I stood on my feet, all night, in pain, feeling sick, thinking I was GOING TO LITERALLY DIE! My wife and kids woke up at 7:30am on March 26, 2021 and my wife RUSHED ME to the hospital. Back to where I had the TRIPLE HERNIA REPAIR SURGICAL PROCEDURE done at, which WAS the St. Joseph South Hospital in Riverview, Florida, on Simmons Loop. I was FORCED to expose myself to others, in the ER, whom were sick, and possibly sick with COVID. I sat in that ER for SEVERAL HOURS before being taken into a room. The FORAY THING OFFERED FOR PAIN was not what I needed. Instead of helping me with the BOWEL MOVEMENT, the doctors fed me NARCOTICS. NARCOTICS makes bowel movement's more difficult, for those that don't know this. After sitting in the ER TILL WELL PAST DINNER, I was not allowed to EAT because I was placed on "NPO"? The hospital came to me and explained, "we are going to admit you and get your pain under control". At or about 6pm, March 26th, 2021, I still had no pain relief and the pain was increasing. The "DUTY NURSE" came in at around 8pm. She gives me a BLOOD THINNER called "LOVINOX". She then tells me, "we will be in soon with your pain relief". 9pm comes and goes and no nurse. I'm so miserable, at this point, that all I can do is stand, in place, in my room. I heard what sounded like a basketball game being played VERY LOUDLY, might I add. Loud enough to cause me to realize that it was after MIDNIGHT and it sounded like a party in the hall. I went to inquire what was going to be done to help my "BOWEL MOVEMENT (in efforts to decrease pain). I pared out my room door. I looked down the hall, three rooms down, to the right, was my nurse, SITTING, watching her phone. I PAINFULLY walked up to her and quickly noticed that she was watching "MARCH MADNESS BASKETBALL" on her phone. As I began to ask, "is thefts any plans to help my pain"? The nurses reply was, "let me turn my prone down FOR YOU (rather rudely)"! I quickly noticed the LOUDER noise was emitting from the television, in the patients room behind me. This room was THREE ROOMS DOWN from me and yet the TV was loud enough that it sounded as if it came through the walls from the room next to me. The nurse was LISTENING to other games on the patients TV, while she slept. I learned that the patient was NEARLY DEF, which was why she was watching that TV. As I requested help, my nurse stated, "I don't know what you want, their not going to help you tonight!" I realized then, my life was in REAL danger! I returned to my room. I realized the time was 2am on March 27th. I walked to the recliner in my room, leaned over the back of this chair (take off pressure pain) UNTIL 7AM! I requested that the hospital, "release me, let me leave, so I can get REAL HELP". The doctor came in at around 7am and DIRECTED ME to "get back in bed and we will give you your pain medication (NARCOTICS through an IV)"? I HAD TO BEG to be released. I was released from St. Joseph South Hospital by 9am on March 27th, 2021. I returned home for the evening. Increasing pressure was increasing pain and STILL, NO BOWEL MOVEMENT! I spent the evening standing, AGAIN. On or about March 28th, 2021, at around 6am, my wife RUSHED ME to the Tampa General Hospital in downtown TAMPA BAY. WRITING 6 HOURS, the doctors ASSISTED with my BOWEL MOVEMENT, and I was sleeping in my bed, comfortably, by 8pm, March 28th, 2021. St. Joseph South is a DEATH TRAP!!! read more

I came with my brother with the Ambulance and instead of leaving him on a room they put him out in the waiting area, due to not having any RN's. We have been seating here for more than 3 hours and he hasnt even been place on a room yet, this is terrible and unbelievable. I do work in the medical field as well but this is insane!!!!! If you are really sick or have an emergency avoid coming in here if you dont wanna be left unattended for hours. read more

This is solely based on the hospitals presentation of services at open house. It does not reflect patient care, customer service, or outcomes of procedures or surgeries. The lobby and entrance is very open and spacious with a multitude of windows allowing loads of natural light to enter while still providing privacy. There is a huge full-service cafeteria, and a larger than expected boutique of gift shop. I Must say this hospital has all of the amenities and is packed with technology available for patients and employees alike. This non-for profit hospital which has 90 private rooms, over 20 observation rooms, and 30 emergency rooms. A innovative design of the emergency room allows increased privacy offering private room with walls! The trauma suite offers in house imaging and no need for transport to other departments. A favorite for me was the isolation rooms, or negative pressure rooms allowing any contagious airborne illnesses to not be transferred through the exiting and entering of the doors. This goes both ways even the severely immune compromised patient can feel safe. Another bonus feature built into the rooms was a language translation system allowing patients to speaking their native languages while hospital staff, getting the translated version can understand. The current plan is laid out for a maximum of four floors however it is expandable to 6 floors without needing to build out. They Baycare.org offers pre-registration if you'd like to get a head start and be ready for anything that you have planned or are considering in the future or should emergency arise. And uses the latest technologies in personal identification allowing one to scan their fingerprint or palm. I was able to take an internal tour and view the MRI, CT, and Operating suites, the nursery, and labor and delivery along with ER. However, the staffing at St. Joseph's were restricted from allowing any visitors to take any photographs until they're opening in February 2015. I went to this place of 'health care' even though I have had zero good experiences here. However, my five year old's pain was at a high and I was directed by his pediatrician to go here. We have been in the waiting room for over two hours! There has been only ONE other pedi in front of us, and two that just got walked in and walked back. Maybe that is something that I am not aware of, like a VIP ER or something....i am not sure....but we are still sitting here, almost two and a half hours-----flash forward 4.75 hrs later....just over the wait, I am done with this hospital. read more

My elderly father came down for a visit and we had to take him to St Joseph South in Riverview on Easter morning. He was treated with fantastic care by all the nurses and especially the third floor Tech named Jay. He was in the hospital for almost a week and everyone that helped was super nice and friendly and they were very professional. read more

The wait-time was quite short. The staff was really great. I do suspect that it was the time of day. Which was about 8:30 am.
