    Broken delicate item, specifically mentioned as fragile

    Summary: What should have been a two-hour pack out and three-hour move for a one bedroom apartment ended up taking 14 hours. I paid a total of $1524.40 for the privilege of being continually verbally disrespected and assaulted with the smell of marijuana, while my belongings were improperly packed. Below you will find a portion of the timeline of and the results of my experience with Craig's Moving Service. I hope you find it helpful in deciding whether you would like a similar experience. Due to Yelp's text limits, I have posted only a sample. Timeline: Friday; packing day: -9:34 AM: Mr. Craig arrives with one packer. He states that he must depart to provide transportation for the other packer. Despite the fact that the second packer is not there, he declared he has started the payment clock at 9:40 AM. I walk both Mr. Craig and the first packer through the items that should be packed for storage vs. packed to go to my new home. -10:15 AM: The sole packer states that he needs to get tools from his car. He leaves the apartment and does not return, ever. -10:54 AM: I call Mr. Craig to ascertain his whereabouts, as well as the whereabouts of the two packers for which I am paying. He states that he is "close." -11:05 AM: Mr. Craig arrives with a different packer. He states that he has to repack the boxes that were done by the first (now absent) packer, since he had not used any packing materials. He states that he will attempt to find a second packer, as the hourly rate I am paying is for two packers. I again walk Mr. Craig and the new packer through what items should go to storage and what items should go to my new home. -12:45 PM: Mr. Craig leaves, having contributed to packing as the second packer arrives. I begin to notice a distinct and undeniable smell of marijuana within my apartment. -1:55 PM: Mr. Craig returns to check on progress. He brings extra boxes. He is informed that tape and shrink wrap are running low. He leaves to retrieve this equipment, saying he will be "back soon". -3:00 PM: Packers are forced to stop work due to lack of tape and shrink wrap, as they communicate the situation to me. -3:24 pm to 3:38 PM: I call Mr. Craig three times, attempting to reach him to discuss the status of the job. He does not pick up. I leave a message telling him that due to lack of supplies and inability to reach him, I am dismissing the packers. I dismiss the packers, as they are not able to work due to lack of supplies. They request that I provide them a ride home. I decline. -3:42 PM: Mr. Craig arrives, having not called or returned my message. He had not listened to my messages, and is therefore unaware that the packers departed due to not having supplies for the better part of that last hour. He leaves. -4:05 PM: Mr. Craig returns with one of the two packers. The marijuana smell returns with them. He expresses significant frustration that his movers were permitted to leave. His tone is so rude and condescending that my partner asks him to stop speaking to me or leave. He has brought some supplies, which are not sufficient to complete the packing process. -5:20 PM: Mr. Craig and his one packer assess that they have made sufficient progress, despite the fact that two rooms remain completely unpacked. He agrees to an arrival time of between 9 and 10 AM the following morning. I am pleased that my apartment no longer smells like marijuana. Saturday; moving day: -10:15 AM: Mr. Craig and two movers arrive, having provided no advance notice of lateness. Mr. Craig asks what items remain to be packed. I list those items. He takes a disrespectful tone with me, similar to the day before, causing my partner to remind him that if he does not stop disrespecting me, he will be asked to leave. He leaves, again being sure to confirm a payment start time of 10:15 AM. -11:37 AM: I call Mr. Craig to inform him, at his team's request, that they are again out of packing supplies. He expresses understanding and states that he will be returning soon with the needed supplies (tape, shrink wrap, packing blankets/pads for storage). -12:27 PM: I call Mr. Craig again, at the request of his team. His team lead informs him that they have been idle for approximately 30 minutes and that they will not be able to continue work without the needed supplies. -~4:30 PM: The move to the storage unit is completed. Sunday; day after the move: I unpack the boxes that were marked to go to my new home. Not only do I have numerous (3 full boxes) items that were mislabeled and supposed to be packed for storage now to deal with, I do not have numerous items that were specifically laid out to be packed for my new home. Multiple delicate items are broken due to a complete lack of packing materials (paper, cushions) within the boxes.

A few of these were after relationship breakups, so he literally helped me move forward in life! My most recent move was from Virginia to Texas in October 2022. Ivan and Anthony coordinated my move-out from house to storage, storage unit to moving truck, and then delivery to new home. During this move, Ivan also transported my car on a flatbed trailer attached to the moving truck. Before providing estimates and scheduling moves, he would request to take a look at the old space and all items to be moved. He was also helpful in suggesting which size unit to rent when I had to put all my furniture in storage. Neither elevators, stairs, traffic nor weather would deter Quick Move. Ivan made sure that everything was transported and delivered with care and intact. Ivan not only handled moves, he had a good eye for furniture placement. When my bedroom set would not fit, he knew which pieces would look beautiful in other areas of my apartment. Before moving/delivery day, I always printed a copy of my home floor plans and designed my furniture layout. Ivan also helped my mom move appliances/furniture to and from her clinic. He even picked up a store order for me instead of my paying for shipping/delivery and figuring out how to carry the heavy purchase upstairs. In past moves, he packed my kitchen and living room into boxes, which I appreciated. Ivan is professional, reliable, trustworthy and communicates well. He identifies ways to save money and resources. He ensures that he has enough help, whom have also been reliable. He uses his time efficiently. He requires a down payment of 50 percent, which I am comfortable paying because I know he will complete the job. I highly recommend Quick Move for all types of moves.

I repeat DO NOT…read more Red flag #1: He is not the one who will move you, he hires another company (or really just a few random guys who smell like cigarettes who are NOT experienced at all). Roger was the one who came to assess my items and provide the quote but he was not who came for the move. First, they show up 1 hour late with no communication. They are NOT efficient at all, my husband helped the entire time because they were so slow. (This doesn't matter in terms of cost bc it is a fixed price but still, it's really annoying to watch when you've moved 5 times in the past 5 years, you get to notice who's good and who's not, and these men were NOT good) So once the loading gets done, the guy tells me that they are all done and that we can take off. So I'm like ok, we take off on our 3 hour drive, which turned into a 4 hour drive due to traffic. Right when I get to our new place, the guy calls me and tells me he left some of my stuff in the elevator of my old apt. That's all he says as if like that's no big deal. Me: so what are you going to do about it? Him: we will bring it to you later. Him: I believe it was the ottoman (of my sofa) and all the sofa cushions and the black table. So I agree, they unload everything and take off with the promise to deliver the rest of the stuff later in the week. I even freaking tipped them $50 as I don't feel right not tipping. (In retrospect, they not only did not deserve the tip, I do not think the $1500 I paid was justified- keep reading) So 3 days go by, the guy returns with my couch cushion, black table, and no ottoman. He doesn't even remember the ottoman, he drops off the couch cushion and black table and happily says: that's all! Me: where's the ottoman? Him: oh yeah I forgot about that. Me: ... He calls the owner (Roger, who by this point in the move has NEVER not even once made the effort to call or communicate with me an apology for all the screw up) and Roger tells him that somebody must have stolen it. Him: he will just send you a new one. Me: ok (really by this point I don't think anything is going to get done right) So now it's about a week later and I haven't heard back from Roger. Multiple calls, emails, ignoring me probably at this point. I am a very patient person, I don't negotiate prices I take the quote that is given, I rarely complain. Honestly even a tiny apology would have gone such a long way but I have not received one throughout this horrible process nor will I be appeased by it now. Rule number one of customer service: apologize for your mistakes or don't hire dumb people to do the work so you don't make mistakes to begin with. I mean, how the heck do you leave stuff in the elevator...I mean that is like the stupidest thing I've heard of. So in conclusion: I HIGHLY recommend you go with another company, even people off Craigslist per hour would do better than these people. If you do not want to lose random items and also wait a week for your sofa, then do not hire "Roger". What a MISERABLE move, like I said, I have moved 5 times in the past 5 years with 5 different moving companies and this company was the worst experience of them all. ****UPDATE: owner "responds" to reviews but does not follow through. Ignores emails and DID NOT ever resolve the problem. So say good bye to some of your furniture if you use his services!! Might take it to small claims, what a fraud.
