I got to say, this place is very unassuming. You could probably head into here in your PJ's and not receive any strange looks. The beer is mega-cheap, the vibe is ultra casual - and they have Quizzo where people don't cheat! (Imagine that!). The best part is the hidden second floor, which, if you're lucky, you can have to yourself with your buddies. Let's say you have to know the right nights - the "quiet" nights - and it seriously feels like a house party. You can watch the TV or listen to the music of your choosing, play some free darts, and use the nearly spotless restrooms at your leisure. I have lived in this area for quite a bit and can say that this bar encompasses what a local pub should be. The former establishment at this residence had a bit of a reputation for rif-raf and I was pleasantly surprised that has changed with new ownership. I don't think there are too many locals here despite what the other reviews say. I actually think it's quite a decent mix of people in a friendly, laid back and clean environment. It has a pleasant game day atmosphere - plenty of TVs - and great drink specials. Oh, and the food! It totally trumps all the other pub grub in the area. The staff is so nice, they'll make it to order so you get real personalized attention. Everyone is so accommodating and nice. Vaughn is my favorite bartender - always a smile and a full glass! They host a lively Quizzo on Monday nights and I hear they have a great dart tourney on other nights (Tuesday, I think). There's shuffleboard, quiz games, pinball, etc. too. Great jukebox. Adequate seating. I never leave there unsatisfied and they get five stars, hands-down, for the details such as hooks under the bar for your purse - love that! Very good neighborhood bar, prices are low, food is good, and atmosphere is friendly. Even a good spot to bring your family to for lunch or an early dinner (it is a sports bar though, so you'll get what you'd imagine if a game is on). Everything you'd want from a local sports spot without the riff raff that usually comes in a one $ symbol establishment. Would have given them five stars but they had a chicken nugget eating contest and didn't give me a trophy when I won (74 nuggets in 12 minutes), even after a competitor vomited about 75 of them up on my shoulder (but they did give me a decent new shirt). read more

Awesome dive bar. Entire staff is pretty much friends and family of owner. Very local crowd, but open and friendly to everyone. Staff is quick, friendly, and very chatty. It's a local dive bar with sports on TV, cheap beer, and free darts, so what can you say? Food is also decent bar food. So yeah, it's a great place to get some drinks and maybe a snack. They have $2 Miller High Life bottles all day, every day. What more could you ask for? The bartenders are always super friendly. The food was waaay better than we expected from a bar. Now we'll call and order food for take out. The chicken fingers are money. Pair that up with some cajun fries and you're good to go. They also have all your other typical bar food (cheesesteaks, pizza rolls, jalapeno poppers, deli sandwiches, etc). It's family owned and run and just has a laid back neighborhood vibe to it. Went here on the steak special night and let me say, SUCH A GOOD TASTING AND MEATY STEAK! WOW! It took quite a LOOOONG TIME for our order to come and I thought perhaps the popularity of the night with $5 steaks (SO NOT THE CASE). I decided to give them another shot and try their wing night. OH BOY! WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS! Arrived at 9:30P and wings (less than 2 dozen) and 1 order of fries did not come out until 10:32P. When the wings did arrive they weren't even the type of wings I ordered and they were OVER COOKED. The service both times were POOR and no one engaged in conversation as to what was the hold up with the order on both days or to assure us that the order would be coming up soon. The beer was warm and never were we asked if we needed anything else. THE ONLY TIME we were asked that is when I asked for the check. IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER IF THE FOOD WAS GOOD, IT IS THE SERVICE THAT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO EVER GO BACK THERE OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. read more

I just moved in to the area and was looking for a bar to grab a bite to eat with my dad. The bar is within walking distance, which was a definite plus. When yo walk in, you notice that it isn't a very large bar. What made the experience as good as it was, were the employees and the people in the bar. You could tell that the people sitting at the bar were neighborhood regulars who probably come in four or five times a week. They knew that my dad and I had never been there simply because we had never seen them. I thought that we were going to grab lunch and leave after an hour, but after everyone introduced themselves to us we started talking (about everything under the sun), we stayed for three and a half hours. The employees were very welcoming and they joked around with the patrons. They make the food right in front of you and there are four television screens with sports games on them (they have the NFL ticket). It was a great experience. If you're looking for an upscale dimly-lit "bar" with 50 types of Belgian beer, then this isn't your place. If you're looking for a welcoming, home-feeling local bar with good people, good employees, good beer and good food, then this is your place. The prices are cheap and the atmosphere is good. We're only visiting the city and staying in East Falls, but this is one of the best neighborhood dive bars we've ever visited. Very friendly local crowd who I suspect have been coming in for years.
