Great to be back in the neighborhood I grew up in! Everyone friendly, a true neighborhood gem and gathering place. The food was excellent for a small bar. We had the grilled flat iron steak with beets and goat cheese served with mashed potatoes and green beans- highly recommend! Good tap selection.

    Hard overcooked wings.

If you want really good wings try anywhere but this place. The wings were hard as a rock. Well done DOES NOT mean burnt, nor does it mean hard as a rock. Additionally, they don't care if you spent your money on hard wings. They are not accommodating to requests made to exchange the rock hard wings for a new order of wings, but instead have the expectation you should simply settle for less and eat the rock hard wings that were initially served. Needless to say, the customer service sucks. Other places that have much BETTER wings (especially if you eat a few, and save them to eat as left overs, or eat the next day) are: Mt. Airy Taproom Toska (a few doors from McMennamins) Tavern on the Hill Chestnut Hill Grill Campbell's Place Shucks...even Wingstop (Conshohocken) When wings are not overcooked, you can enjoy them whenever you please. It's simply called the art of cooking..and knowing how to do so properly.

This is the MT. Airy/ Germantown spot to chat and chill with neighbors and make new friends. Folks here are pretty cool and they serve a mean shrimp basket. Just watch out for parking meter maids on G-town Ave. They are on the prowl in the afternoons.

Our waitress was amazing and so friendly! I haven't had fish and chips is forever and this truly was one of the best I have had. I got the fries spicy and that was the way to go. Inside is cute and very comfortable.

A friend of mine took me to this area because we were supposed to go to another restaurant, but that place was closed down. We were trying to figure out where to go to grab a bite to eat and a beer, when suddenly the most delightful smells came from the doorway of McMenamin's Tavern. I must say the inside and outside are clean and a Really nice place. The staff are All very attentive and when you walk in, you feel Very Comfortable and Relaxed!! I was On Chill mode the Entire Time we were there. I cannot wait to visit this place again soon. Ohhhh, our burgers were Out of this world and so flavorful!! Very pleased all the way around. Yummmm

Finally got to stop in here, and I'm glad I did. This was on a weekday for lunch, and it was moderately busy. I was pleased to see that the staff and customers reflected the diversity of the Mt. Airy-Germantown area (contrary to one now-prominent Yelp review). We found the staff and other partrons to be friendly and down-to-earth, in rather an old fashioned, homey bar-restaurant. The definition of what a neighborhood pub should be. I was also worried that the fare would be very old-school meat-oriented pub grub. It was not. There were any number of vegetarian options, and the first-listed lunch special was explicitly labelled "GF/vegan." Nice, too, is the excellent draft beer list, which included, on this occasion, a cask Yards IPA. I had one of the lunch specials, a cheese, mushroom, and tomato on wheat grilled sandwich - kind of a panini. Excellent. Reasonable price, too, at $8. My deputy Yelper, whose appetite for a cheeseburger was what got us here in the first place, praised the burger overall, while lamenting that his "medium rare" burger was more in the direction of medium than rare. He also the critiqued the bun as being unremarkable. Everyone's a critic! Of course he devoured burger AND bun. The french fries, however, really get the award, and I can confirm that myself. Outstanding! Huge serving (we took some home). Certainly among the best I've ever had, perhaps they are really twice fried. Will be back!

Our waitress was very friendly and ended up leaving a pitcher of water once she saw we were parched. The salad bar wasn't huge, but there were some cold dishes along with salad fixings, which is part of the vintage charm. The bread (not complementary) was also a huge round loaf great for sharing. The decor's medieval vibe is very charming and it's nice looking around the room. The kitchen is open to the dining room with big brick ovens. I had the prime rib which was big and juicy (the baked potato was fine but the Yorkshire puff was bland and barely editable soaked in juice - may just be I don't like this food). The steak came with a giant onion ring which was delightful, and it was cooked perfectly tender. This place thrives in your meat and potato staples, so not a lot of side options except what's at the salad bar. For dessert, we had to try the peach melba delight, which was a giant goblet of vanilla ice cream, peaches in juice, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Deceptively simple but extremely tasty and great to share There's a large bar area and the bathrooms are nice. This place is great for larger groups that include older people. The food is good and the atmosphere did feel like it was from another time, but we had a good time, and it's nice to see a place like this still around.

We asked for the toppings on the side because, you know, kids, but WOW. The vodka sauce was delicious, and the pickled tomato concoction that came with them? I could've bathed in it. The calamari was perfectly crisp and came with the unexpected bonus of onion rings, which were ever-so-lightly battered and perfectly crunchy. And once again, the sauces were superb. The boys shared a cheese pizza, half pepperoni, and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the burger, and yes, I stole a bite--and yes, to no one's surprise, it was amazing. We also ordered the charred broccoli after seeing everyone rave about it online. They were NOT wrong. Creamy, smoky, charred perfection. And finally... drumroll please... the 10 oz. smoked Duroc pork chop! OH. EM. GEEE. Perfectly charred on the outside and incredibly juicy inside, sitting in the most delicious smoky morita-apricot glaze and topped with a bright cucumber-melon salad with mint and blue basil. The contrast was perfection! The rich, smoky pork, the sweet and slightly spicy glaze, and that cool, fresh salad on top. Every bite had the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Easily one of the best pork chops I've ever had. As wonderful as the food was, the service somehow made the experience even better. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like family coming home for the holidays. Warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. What an absolute joy of a restaurant. Neither of us were hungry enough for a big dinner, and we were too tired to wander the city. Moriarty's came up in a yelp search, and we love an Irish pub, so we decided we'd give it a shot. The interior space is definitely Irish pub, but also has some pretty touches. It's not too dimly lit, and its not crazy loud, which was super nice. We sat at the bar, and it was a slow enough time that we were able to chat with the bartender a bit, as well as a regular patron seated near us. We had some really fun conversations!
