If you are in the area it is a solid spot for grubs. The wings were properly fried hard for me which is my preference. The salad was basic basic, but honestly I just wanted an excuse to eat all the wings. I do get them naked with sauce on the side to maintain crispness. Excuse the light skinned color, don't count that against them. Irish saloon says it all. Dark with a ton of noise and people. Billy Murphy's is the perfect neighbor bar/tavern. It has the most inviting feeling, decorated with string lights, local art and photos are hung on the walls. It is very wholesome to see and experience the bonds some locals have created with the bartenders/servers. Everyone is always friendly and polite. The service is quick. They have specials every week! Sundays & Wednesdays are 50 cent wings. Mondays are half off chicken sandwiches & Tuesdays are half off burgers. I definitely recommend getting fries to share. Even a small size is sufficient to share amongst 3-4 people. The aioli sauce is perfectly creamy and acidic. My personal favorite burger is the Big Mic, which tastes way better than a Big Mac. The patty is always huge and juicy and really creates a harmonious bite with all the vegetables. The portions for everything are super generous. The turf burger is super indulgent and delicious too. A go-to "dive" bar in the East Falls neighborhood. This bar is a staple in the community and the food is great! DONT sleep on their cheesesteak - don't tell any of the big names but it may be one of the best in the area. Fries are hand cut and required any time we dine. We were looking for some place to get a late lunch - so many other places that claimed to be open weren't - so we stopped in here on a lark, not knowing what to expect. It does have an almost raffish, dive-bar appearance, but is obviously a well-regarded neighborhood institution. The beer list was more than adequate, and although we certainly didn't expect it - the food was truly excellent. My Deputy Yelper pronounced the Turf Burger the best she's had. I took a chance on the Veggie Burger, with added cheese, and was quite pleased. The small sweet potato side-order rounded things out excellently. For beers, they had draft Yards Pale Ale and Warsteiner Octoberfest, and both pleased us greatly. Our server, who was also the bar tender, was very attentive, and is possessed of more than adequate conversational skills. She made us feel completely welcome as first-timers. Highly recommended. She quickly said they don't make that one and told me to check the menu online, then abruptly hung up. The call barely lasted 15 seconds. The frustrating part is I had already spent 20 minutes trying to find their menu online before calling. They don't have a website, and there's no menu on Yelp. This place used to be our absolute FAVORITE. We had been many many times for drinks, trivia, wings and burgers. A lot of people there watching the 76ers play. We opted to sit outside and our bartender/server took our order. My friend lives around the corner so we walked but there was some street parking nearby. We came her specifically for the burgers. I was told they were good and was happy when I saw "hand formed patty" right at the top of the burger section. We both ordered medium and got a side of fries and a couple cokes. The fries come with some special sauce, maybe a mix of mayo and ketchup with some other goodies, I'm not sure but it was good. The cokes were also great, plenty of syrup, sweet, cold, and delicious. The burgers came on nice buns and looked fabulous. The first bite was absolutely dreamy, perfect medium, gooey melty cheese, a little juice squeezing out. Prices are very good and you can drink here all night or for a while and not get a huge bill. I'm not gonna lie, when people invited me to this place I was not excited. I had never heard about it and it sounded/looked below average. However, I was surprised with a great experience. I got the fish tacos and they were solid. The thing I loved the most was the sweet potato fries and whatever dip the gave. It was the perfect combination! These come as an order of very meaty pig shank that are oven baked and then flash fried. The mild-a-que sauce was very good and flavorful. The meat on the bones was very tender and moist with a very light crisp as you bite into them. My fiancé also got the crab cake salad which was also very surprising.
