Nice looking store and fun to generally browse. A little bit of an odd experience at this store though when visiting "on a mission". We were looking to visit Crate & Barrel in Novi to have the opportunity to check out some dining tables I had seen online. I wanted to get a sense of the look & feel in person. First off, the location/address on Yelp and Google Maps should be updated. We navigated to what is actually a La-Z-Boy store nearby Twelve Oaks mall. Took some searching to figure out the store is actually located inside the mall (Upper Level by Macy's). The dining table I was most interested in was super beat up in the store. It's a wood veneer, and the one they had on the floor had tons of scratches and dings on the surface. I asked if someone was available to help, as I had some questions about durability, delivery costs, warranties, lead time, etc. I think they must've been busy that day because I sort of felt like it was a burden to them to have someone to talk to me. I asked if we could demo the extension functionality of the table, a main part of why I wanted to see the table in person, to see how difficult/easy it was, and what that process was like to extend or shorten the table. It basically didn't work. I actually think the experience in person made me decide to not get the table. Wasn't clear (and I asked) if I were to buy it, if the table would get to that condition within months, years, etc. Was pitched a Crate & Barrel credit card while I was there. read more

Absolutely amazing store. Judy was one of the best sales facilitators I've ever had. She helped us buy this large wooden floor model tree. She wrapped it perfectly and helped us troubleshoot getting it back to one of our homes. I am very impressed by the level of service and value that she provided. Crate and Barrel is not a store I typically shop at, I am more of a Marshall's kind of gal because I just hate spending crazy money on household stuff. However, I have an upcoming bridal shower and my friend is registered here. The first thing I must say about this store is that it is huge! You could easily spend all day in there. On my recent journey I arrived and went to the kiosk to print the bridal registry, that part was easy enough. However, actually trying to locate the items....not so much! I am not a fan of stores where employees stalk you and continuously ask you if you need help, if I need help I ask. However, in this case I was super thankful for help. Locating someone wasn't easy but once I did find someone she seemed to know exactly where every item was. I ended up picking out several really nice items off the registry but I found it very annoying that the employee kept trying to get me to buy more and more. I realize that's her job, but I was also very clear about how much I was willing to spend, so please respect that! I like the fact that gift boxes and tissue paper were provided for all my items along with gift receipts. They also have large item pick up in the back of the store (drive around the mall) where you can pick up furniture or heavy boxes. Since I was parked on the other side of the skywalk it was nice that I didn't have to trek that large box through the mall while I did the rest of my shopping. read more

I purchased two rugs from the Novi, MI store about a month apart. Both rugs were of very poor quality, edges frayed and curled a week after purchasing. The other rug had large areas of color missing. I returned the first rug through customer service, they picked it up, no problem. Rug number two was a different story. I offered to drive it back to the store instead of having them pick it up, big mistake. I went in to the store, put the rug on the floor next to the counter and waited for assistance. A woman came from the back with a big scowl on her face and asked what I needed. I told her I needed to return the rug, she got very angry. I asked for a manager, she informed me that she was the manager. She refused to give me my money back. After arguing for several minutes, I gave up and took a store credit. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in a store. This woman should not be dealing with customers. I will purchase something with my store credit and not a penny more. I will never shop at Crate & Barrel again. Pottery Barn is just around the corner, They have good quality items and extremely over the top great management that treats their customers very well. The staff here are knowledgeable and the store is very well-organized. There is a nice flow to the 2.5-story store. I went to Crate & Barrel for a bridal registry event- there was coffee, hors d'ourves, and cooking demonstrations. There were plenty of staff during this private event who offered their expertise, but they didn't hover or make you feel uncomfortable. Although I wish that there was more of a selection for casual and fine dinnerware, I just love this store. Can't walk out of here empty-handed. read more

I purchased two items for my home and had them set up for delivery. What a terrible experience! They never called to confirm a time so I called them. They said the phone number was incorrect and that the initial sales person never changed it but she would rectify. The next day they showed up an hour early (I was not awake). I answered the doorbell and asked for a minute to put my cats away. He said sure. You can see and hear from my ring (doorbell) that while I was grabbing two of my cats my third went to the door where the delivery man literally hissed at him and they very annoyed I wasn't ready for their hour early arrival (you can see and hear them through my ring. Then they came in, didn't place the cabinet where I asked and left a bunch of cardboard pieces on my floor (this is their "white glove treatment"). When I called and spoke w a manager he said he was sorry I felt that way and placated the situation. Buyer beware! read more

Surprisingly large considering it's inside a mall but smaller than regular stores. Check out their website for special events - I attended a wedding registry event which included raffle for big items, live music, fruit and cheese platters and drinks - and also wedding vendors with samples, like cakes, mini donuts, invitations and calligraphy. They have an app that you can use to create your wedding registry and the dedicated event meant that sales people were attentive and everywhere. I hadn't been to this C&B location prior to the event, but now with the registry, we will be coming back and hope the service is just as good. read more

Do NOT shop here!!! I purchased a beautiful Halo table from Crate and Barrel in Somerset Collections. At the time of purchase I had decided to pick table up myself. The salesperson talked me out of it because it has a glass top she was concerned might break in my SUV. I then agreed to pay for them to deliver the table (no chairs). The delivery company arrived the afternoon of April 11th and appeared to be in a rush. They did not wear uniforms, the truck did not say Crate & Barrel but they had my table so I let them in. I had just had my hardwood floors Refinished 4-6 weeks before and Ethan Allen had delivered 2 large chairs, 2 ottomans, and a cocktail table without incident the week before. However, when Crate & Barrel (contracted to Cory delivery company) brought table in, the guys brought table base in and set it in place without a problem. While one guy was getting paperwork for me to sign, the other one brought in 48" glass in cardboard box in his arms narrowly missing my chandeliers. I reminded him to be careful of the fixtures. He made it past those and when he got near the table he set the box on one narrow end and slid it another foot to get it closer to table before they lifted it onto base. I signed paperwork and as they were leaving I noticed the sun shining on the scratch/scrape in my hardwood floors. I managed to catch them before they pulled out of driveway and made them aware of the scratch. The one who did paperwork questioned if it was them that caused it. He was very argumentative and said that his company would make him pay for it. I explained that positively it was them and that I have photos of my Ethan Allen furniture that was just delivered days prior and the floor was not scratched then. It also is the size of the end of the box that they brought in. Also, it was his partner that did it not him. Every other furniture company uncrates in front and they team deliver each piece to avoid damage. The guys had told me I was their last delivery of the day. I think they were anxious to get back home to Ohio so the one guy chose to rush and bring box in himself. Since the main guy (I think his name was Chico) was so argumentative, I contacted Crate & Barrel to advise of poor service and my dilemma with floor. I also took photos. Crate & Barrel refunded my delivery fee and gave me number to delivery company to duke it out. This has been since April 2017. I sent one estimate to Cory from the company that had just refinished my floors. I live in a rural area and it is difficult to get other hardwood flooring people to come give estimates on a screen and poly. They give quotes over phone based on square footage. My entire main floor is hardwood and I don't have a good stopping point according to most as I am told it would be obvious line of demarcation between old and new. I have approximately 1200-1400 square feet and I would need a POD to place all my belongings in while it is being done and we move out into a hotel for the week. The one estimate from company that did original refinishing was very modest and he THINKS he can do it and stop before the hallway. I still have not heard from the delivery company. Do NOT shop Crate & Barrel. They have done nothing but pass the buck. I was not told they contracted third party for delivery. I did not choose or agree to have a third party deliver. This was Crate & Barrels doing. Mike at Cory, the delivery company told me he would forward the quote to their insurance company. To date I have heard nothing. Did send info from other flooring companies with phone numbers so they can verify what I was told about having to have complete floor done. I am also open to having their insurance agency send out an adjuster. My floor needs to be repaired!!! Do not shop here!!! read more

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I love to cook so I love going and picking out some new glassware/kitchen gaget/cook ware. I hate that they have too much cool stuff. I always leave there over budget and still wanting more... kinda like eating chocolate. Besides the basics ( many sizes and shapes) they bring out seasonal items. I browse mostly the upper floors, the furniture while beautiful, is not for me right now. This last trip I was looking for a couple more wine glasses to fill out a set for a party I am having. But now I am now the proud owner of a Sangria set. Did i want it....YES....did I need it... NO hence my love and hate relationship with Crate and Barrel. I will be back once the shame and my credit card balance is gone ! read more

Beware of this store. They will deliver damaged, poor quality goods, charge you late fees and interest on products they haven't delivered yet. They will give you a new date for delivery every month. They will send thugs posing as White Glove service to your home to destroy your floors and carpets and try to conceal their damaged goods to trick you into accepting them. The staff in Novi store are completely obnoxious. They take NO responsibility, have NO empathy for the distress caused to their customers. Never agree to a C&B credit card scam, they will sell your information to the dark web, they will play shell games between C&B and Synchrony bank to trick you out of your money. I ordered $5000 worth of furniture from these people, Ive ended up with damaged good from 1 year ago they were supposed to replace, and a massive gouge in my hardwood floor that will likely cost $12000 to replace. I LOVE THIS STORE. I just wish I had the money (and storage space) to buy everything I wanted. That said, this was my first time in this location and while it's a pretty store with great merchandise, it's a complete PITA if you have a stroller, as the store is laid out on multiple levels (think many 6-step staircases). Luckily I was with my husband and was looking for one specific thing, so I ran around looking for it while he stayed on the main level with the stroller. The staff are very nice and helpful, answered my questions, and checked me out quickly. So overall, I'm definitely a fan! read more

Not a place you go for speedy service. I was told the rug would be in in early September; the balance was charged to my account on the 14th. The following week I called the store because I had not received any notification of delivery. The earliest delivery date I was offered was 9/29; while I discussed this with the clerk, that date was gone and was offered 10/6. When I complained, the clerk said that it was delivered in Chicago and then had to go to Columbus and would be delivered from there. While this may make corporate happy, it irritates me as a customer. Why not tell me that at the time of purchase? While I was waiting for delivery I received a gift card and went to the store to apply it to the balance I owed. It took more than 30 minutes because the machine didn't take the number on the card and the pin under the black was illegible. The clerk spent all that time on the phone trying to get it resolved. Received delivery on a custom $1500 chair that is broken, after waiting 11 weeks for them to build it! The delivery person knew it was cracked on the bottom because as soon as you sit in the chair you can tell how unstable it is...tried to wave them down and they drive off. Now after waiting 11 more days for them to decide how to fix it, I still do not have a set plan to address the issue. The chair is beautiful but this is unacceptable!!!! read more

If you need an item and can take it home from a store, then Crate and Barrel is not bad. If you need to order something like a piece of furniture, Crate and Barrel is a nightmare. Do your self a favor, get your furniture somewhere else. At some point in time, Crate and Barrel decided that they would save money by not warehousing the product they sell. Instead, they sell you a piece of furniture that does not exist yet. Then once built, it is sent directly to you from the supplier. The problem with this tactic is that Crate and Barrel has lost all control of their supply chain. You will get your furniture when the supplier is ready to build it. Crate and Barrel always will tell you that the estimated time of arrival is about a month away. In reality, they will keep extending the ETA once they have your money. You may or may not ever get your furniture. Crate and Barrel will return your money, however, it will take a couple of weeks. read more

I Order a crate and barrel couch and it Came fine. Delivery was great. But I wanted a Ottoman for it so I go a head and order that. But the delivery people just left it at the front door. Open it up and one of the legs is cracked. Call back right away and they said they would take care of it. But never heard back. Now I'm upset cause I spent 500 plus on a broken Ottoman. Thanks crate and crap. Also it's not even like these things come off the shelf. You have to wait freaking 3 months for it. read more

I want to echo the other reviewers' complaints about customer service. I ordered an eight piece set of dinnerware and wine glasses for in store pickup in March and by September four of the eight mugs and one of the wine glasses had cracked under normal use. When I contacted the online customer service they told me they come not help me since the order was an in store pick up. This seems crazy to me because the order was placed online. So, I contacted the Somerset store as directed and the representative was incredibly rude and accusatory. She claimed that she had never heard about the cracking issue before despite several online reviews mentioning it. Then she claimed that the cracking was caused by a temperature issue. When I told her a room temperature wine glass had cracked after I poured in room temperature red wine the representative basically accused me of lying and said that she had no way of verifying that. As for the mugs, I've been drinking hot coffee and tea for 30+ years and never experienced the problems I have with the Bennett mugs from Crate and Barrel. Mugs are supposed to hold hot beverages, so if Crate and Barrel's can't handle them they should probably put a disclaimer on their website. After all this the representative did offer to replace my defective items but made it sound like it was a special favor - "a one time courtesy". There's no reason to patronize a company with this attitude towards its customers when stores like Costco and Amazon have such a positive response to customer feedback. One more thing, when I tried to review the products on their website they moderated the comment and refused to post it because I mentioned the poor customer service I received. It is a tough situation when a business has an appealing product, but horrible customer service. I ordered a framed print over the phone and was told I would have to pick it up. I showed up with a full size vehicle. I had to come back another day with an SUV (for a simple wall hanging mind you), because they did not mention the items excessive packaging. After getting home, opened the package to find the glass in the framed print was broken and their stock room had even placed a note on it indicating it was broken... yet they sold it to me anyway. C&B arranged for UPS to pick up the package, yet I had to repackage it on own time and expense. They ordered me another one. It showed up broken. I asked for a refund. That turned the refund into a week long ordeal. Overall- there was a complete breakdown in service from the phone saleswoman, to the floor saleswoman, to the stock room, and the management. I wasted a decent amount of money and time and never saw anything for it. To mimic other reviewers - do not buy anything over the phone or buy anything you can not take home that day (and even then be wary). C&B takes too long to deliver items, does not know how to package items correctly, and does not have adequate trained staff to deal with the issues that arise as a result. It is such a shame, as they have some really great stuff. read more
