Normally I do not write a review of a retail store but this store deserves a special kudo's! Today we decided to visit and we wanted to bring our dog. We read online dogs were allowed. So off we went. To our very pleasant t surprises Finn, our 1 year old rescue was not just "allowed" but WELCOMED. Greeted by not less than three sales associates! Even the floor manager came but came by and took Finn's picture for their welcome board. This wonderful experience carried over to helping choose the right purchase. The worst customer service ever. We went to the Westport store on April 12 and ordered a kettle they didn't have in stock. It arrived April 30 and we were informed that the order would be cancelled after 5 days. May 5, five days later, we went to the Westport store to pick up the kettle. The order had been cancelled; apparently, the kettle vanished, we couldn't even buy the display item. I called the Westport store about a refund to my card; I was given a 1 800 number to call. I called that number and was referred back to the Westport store. I called the Westport store and, admittedly, lost my cool a bit, but was told by an associate, "This is not my problem." Um, this is your problem because you work for Crate & Barrel, am I correct? I was hung up on. I received a voicemail in return, and when I called back, was hung up on again. I worked for C&B ages ago in San Francisco, and if I'd displayed such customer service demeanor, I would have been seriously reprimanded, if not sacked. read more

They literally follow you around the store and watch you. Also, very rude. Did not even say "thank you" after my purchase. The only good thing is that there is a good selection. Otherwise, the rudest staff in any store I have been in. read more

This has nothing to do with the Westport location- I've used them several times and has been all good- very helpful. I ordered a 2 lamps on line and one was came with a chip right in front no hiding it. Material had a bubble and fractured. Call customer service- they want it back(hope they don't plan to resell this again) and no word on when I will get a replacement. Really poor service to say the least. read more

This store is disgusting. First of all, it's in the nastiest, most Ill Feng shui building you can imagine. The flow of the parking is horrendous. And, checkout? Forget it. On more than one occasion with ample time on my hands, I've collected my items to purchase and waited and waited observing inept staff being inept. The past couple visits I walked straight out despite not being in a hurry. Guys, you are a novelty store where I don't really need super expensive kitchen items. They are fun to have but not if I have to wait endlessly to give you my discretionary funds. Horrible experience most each and every time. Yuck. read more

This location has a Crate & Kids within it. The section is pretty small, but well curated with a few rockers, gliders, cribs, rugs, artwork, etc. You can actually check online to see if they have a certain item on display, which is very useful. We knew exactly what we wanted to check out, so we didn't need much help, but staff made themselves available to us and provided helpful feedback. The store itself is so organized and visually pleasing. In comparison to the West Elm in Westport it's much more spacious and feels more luxe. The kitchen section, in particular, always lures me. The only con is that I always find something I like. read more

I have reviewed this store in the past after having a great experience however the individual that just helped me over the phone was extremely nasty. I plan to make a formal complaint against this woman who seems to dislike ppl with accents. She repeatedly told me about how I was speaking and that it was too fast. Now I speak English very well, with an accent yes, but it is my first language. I am on my way to the store to pick up my order and get help with what she repeatedly refused to help me with and will be taking her name for formal complaint since she refused to provide it over the phone. She needs training or to be placed in a stock room where she does not interact with ppl. read more

I completely agree with the negative reviews on this location. I have consistently dealt with cashiers and employees here that have zero customer service skills. I just came home from a shopping trip there today where it was so aggravating that I will never shop at this location again. I got to the register with a pitcher set that is made of two separate items that are a lower price if purchased together (I have one for myself and was buying one now as a Christmas gift). If you've ever gone shopping anywhere, you know that an advertised price on a website can be different than what is actually rung up on the register. So I asked the cashier if she could tell me how much the item came out to be and she said "it's on sale". I responded by saying that I know it's on sale but I want to know the price that it rang up to. She responds with "I can't, I already changed the screen" totally ignoring my question and concern and acting like I'm a complete bother to her. This meant that I had to pay for my things before I could see what the items individually rang up as. Once the receipt printed out, she immediately stuffed it into the bag and when I grabbed it to check the price she didn't say anything. It's the holiday season and she didn't even ask if I wanted a gift receipt and at that point I just wanted to take my things and leave. Bottom line - don't waste your time here. i couldn't wait to register for my bridal shower here....and less than a year later, everythingggggg i got from here has fallen apart, literally after 1-3 uses. absolutely insane. container covers, whisk and spoons, i returned the same product 2 times bc it broke in oven after ONE use, BOTH TIMES and i just gave up, and then more and more things kept falling apart..now i'm at the point of having nothing left in my kitchen that i received as gifts from here and i haven't even celebrated my first wedding anniversary yet. i'm so upset and disapointed ..i don't even have the energy to do something about all the items that are actual garbage. and EXPENSIVE read more

I enjoy a trip to a nice home goods and cookery store, and I love visiting the Crate & Barrel in Westport. Throwing aside the fact that this particular Crate & Barrel is located on a nicely maintained strip of road in upper-crusty Westport (have you gotten a load of the Starbucks that's down the street?), a pleasant shopping experience is made even more so by the friendly layout of the store. Yes, certain things here are expensive - why they charge $16 for a lemon zester is beyond me - but you can pick up a number of items that will make any cooking experience easier. From glass baking dishes to salad spinners to flatware, Crate & Barrel will succeed in bringing out the cook in you. They even boast a small selection of cookbooks. I purchased a Giada DeLaurentiis cookbook here once, and it has served me well ever since. The second floor of this particular Crate & Barrel sells furniture, and while I'm not a big fan of their offerings - I think you can get nicer stuff elsewhere - it's worth a look if you're in the market for home decor. All in all, this is a great Crate & Barrel, and I go to Westport simply to visit it. read more

This Crate and Barrel is quite large and it's exterior is somewhat cool looking (it has modern architecture). This one is just like all the other nearby Crate and Barrels (West Hartford, Providence, Westchester, etc..) except this one has a slightly higher percentage of snooty personnel. I never really got treated unfairly but the attitude they project is like they're selling the Hope diamond. Which is funny because I can't imagine the staff earning much more than minimum wage. I suppose it's that lovely Westport snooty-ness rubbing off on them. You'll get an attitude even at a McDonalds in Westport. Westport is the pits. read more

I saw some not so great reviews before I went in today, so I was a little hesitant. I went in with a 2 year old right around opening time at 10am (Friday). The 3 different ladies that helped me were all very nice. They put things at the register for me while I kept looking around which was a huge help with a kid! At check out they were very excited by my son and were very nice to him. Even when I left Teresa M (per the receipt) insisted (I never asked) on carrying my bags out to the car with me! So the morning ladies I dealt with were nice and I would suggest going in the morning if you can! (Sorry I didn't catch the other 2 ladies names, otherwise I would give them kudos as well) read more

My husband and I just moved into our home and the area and have a decent budget for decorating. We went to Crate & Barrel today and were amazed at the lack of service at the Westport store. Not one person asked us if we needed help. We were clearly interested in furniture as I was snapping pictures and looking at price tags. We sat in chairs, we approximated measures of the tables and sofas. When I asked a question of one sales person, he said he was helping someone else but didn't bother to ask if he could get someone to help me. When I asked a sales person at a desk a question, she acted as if my question was a bother to her. At no point did she ask if I needed help finding something. I guess their employees don't care about meeting sales quotas or customer satisfaction. They need basic training on how to interact with customers. I will tell others to avoid this store. read more

I was hesitant to write this review considering the environment we are living in but felt the need considering the lack of ownership by Crate and Barrel. We purchased a couch in Feb 2021. Paid in full. At the time of purchase we were told 2 of the 4 pieces would be available within weeks and the remaining two early April. We were not in a rush so had zero issues with the timing. Well June came around and we still had nothing nor a phone call from the store with an update. Arrival date was now August. We spoke to the Westport store and they did credit us back 10% as a good faith gesture. A week or so later we were told all four pieces were ready for delivery but next available delivery date was 9-28. We obviously weren't thrilled but had no choice. Not a word from anyone until a few days before the delivery date. Store then tells us we apologize but we can only deliver two pieces of the sectional the other two never made the delivery truck. They gave me back the delivery fee of $150. Thanks a lot. We agreed once again and freed our schedule to be there for the two. Of course the driver never shows up. We call the trucking company and ask what happened and we were told he came by that morning but the guy living there said it wouldn't fit! Not sure where he went but it wasn't our house. They of course couldn't confirm where he attempted to deliver. We called Crate and Barrel and they said we might be able to send them back in another week! Keep in mind this is only 2 of the 4 pieces from a February purchase. Status on the other two still pending. Needless to say I asked for a full refund which I will be getting. I'd rather sit on the floor for the next year then do business with Crate and Barrel. They took zero ownership and could care less. read more

It's your standard Crate & Barrel location; well stocked, aesthetically pleasing, great quality items. The employees are uninterested and I was rang out so quickly that she just clicked past the screens for me (to enter in my email address, etc) and ignored the fact that I a. had a question and b. had a promo that I wanted to use. I understand they probably deal with some really unpleasant Westport housewives, but you'd think a pleasant, friendly customer would be a nice change of pace for them. All the previous reviews are correct, the previous staff here lacked decent customer service skills and I felt judged every time I walked into the store. Went shopping for patio furniture with my partner a few weeks ago. We planted ourselves on the Dune sofa, part of the Dune Collection of modern all weather wicker furniture. I'd been hunting online for the Dune Double Chaise, but it's on back order. Figures. Anyway, so we made ourselves at home on the Dune sofa for a really long time. I might have drifted off. There were about a half dozen sales people on the floor, but that place is so chock full of simulated rooms, that we blended right in among the employees who were also kicking back for a few on other sofas. After a really long wait, and then after being told the piece I wanted was backordered until Mid-July, and after realizing we could basically move into the place and vanish into the decor, we decided to do just that--move in. I'd always wanted a big house, nothing too showy, but just really roomy so you'd never get bored, and I have to say after living at Crate & Barrel a few weeks, I think I'm in love with the place. We can sleep on a different bed every night, eat dinner at a different table every evening, and make ourselves fake cocktails at cocktail hour with the fake booze on the bar furniture. There's even a lovely patio display where we can sunbathe and enjoy the fresh air. From our patio, we have a great view of the patio across the way, Kaia Cafe, where we sometimes go whenever we get tired of our place. Sometimes you can see Kaia Cafe employees bringing out trash, one empty carton at a time. The mindfulness of their trash removal is really impressive. Review to follow. Now that we've settled in, we're thinking of having a little get together with a 100 or so of our close friends, something casual to fit the timelessness and linear good looks of the decor. They have like five mixers on display in housewares, and plenty of Nepresso machines, so maybe we'll do a brunch on one of the Weber Grills they sell. The greatest thing about our lives since we moved in to Crate & Barrel is the employees still don't know we're there, but now they clean up after us, so we don't really care. Plus I don't need that double chaise anymore, so I'm saving a bundle on furniture these days, not to mention rent and utilities. The store itself is nice, however it's hard to find someone to assist. I ended up buying some furniture and the guy at the register said to come by next week to pick it up. So a week later I went to the store to pick it up and they said that the items are not a the store and they should have never told me to come. The Lady at the register said to wait another week and someone would call me. Well, another week passed and no one called. I had to call the store to find out and spoke to CHERYL (the person in charge). Not only was she very RUDE, she wouldn't let me speak and kept interrupting me and not allowing to ask any questions. She was getting VERY LOUD on the phone and YELLING as it was my fault that I ask the whereabouts of my purchases. I don't know if she had her period that day or going through menopause, perhaps she forgot to take her happy pill that day, but no Customer should be treated that way. SHE IS NUTS AND MAKES THE STORE LOOK BAD. Not sure if I will go back to the store to shop. Rather go to Bassett (down the street). At least I get treated with respect and happy to spend my money there. It's sad, but Crate & Barrell is loosing a good Customer due to bad Sales Rep... I love Crate and Barrel, they have unique varieties and styles for many of their lines. I enjoy stopping in and checking out their glass wear and other household accessories. The furniture on the second floor is inspired from some better known high end purveyors so it's nice to see their take on things I suppose. The experience was absolutely horrible! Of course, the part where I went into the store and placed an order for over $6,000.00 went very smoothly. Taking money from a trusting and naive customer is always easy. I was explicit that my move in date was September 28 and that I didn't want to move into an empty house. I received nothing but smiles and assurances. I was assured that my order would be in and that I could have it timed with my move in. I was also told that my coffee table would be in the following week. Not a big deal. What the sales associate failed to mention at the time of order was that delivery will be scheduled after the furniture arrives and that deliveries are only on Sunday...... ONLY ON SUNDAYS?! I didn't even get a call when the furniture did arrive. An email from me last week reminded them. So now, I'm moving in tomorrow, and I will have no furniture for another month. The earliest delivery is October 25...... OCTOBER 25. One. more. month. Horrible customer service. Deceitful and horrendous. What part of: September 28. Move in. Delivery. Timing. No empty house.....didn't make sense? The only dot that got connected here were the numbers before and after the decimal place in my total. I ordered my bedroom furniture from Restoration Hardware after I order furniture from C&B and had everything delivered in 2 weeks. Thank God for them. Had I known then, everything would've been ordered from RH. The C&B sales associate mentioned that if I had any other service questions to give them a call. While researching where to register for my wedding, I walked into the Westport location of Crate and Barrel. While other employees seemed to be busy doing their morning duties, one employee noticed I was looking and came straight over to answers any questions that I had regarding kitchen ware. Her name is Lauren and she was energetic and excited about explaining all the different items Crate and Barrel had to offer in order to fill my new kitchen with exactly what I needed. She was knowledgeable about the basics of starting a kitchen and then added some beautiful glasses, plates, cutlery, knives, everything a new bride to be would need. She was personable and worked within my budget. In a world of no customer service, Lauren gave me the special individual attention that I've never received in any other store. Her smile and excitement made my day brighter and I will absolutely return with my fiancee to register for my upcoming wedding. I even asked Lauren when she worked in order to return when she was there for further help. She also introduced me to the folks in furniture where I found a perfect living room furniture set. Called their Customer Service 3 times. 2 times rep had absolutely no clue. 1 time supervisor could not suggest anything realistic about order availability and was constantly interrupting me with "Oh, I know, I know". I had a recent experience with the Crate and Barrel in Westport that has made me write a yelp review for the first time. I bought a gifts for my 2 sons and their wives to be enjoyed at the holiday time. On November 24 ( the day after Thanksgiving) bought these gifts in the store at Westport and ask that they be shipped--one to NYC, one to LA.Imagine my frustration to find that as of December 5 neither had arrived. I called the Westport store this morning at 10 am to inquire--TWICE. In one case I was put on hold for 10 minutes. In the second call, I was told I'd receive a callback to tell the the status of these gifts. At 5 pm I had received no such call. This time I asked to speak to the manager. At first they told me this was a busy time for the store. I said, I want to speak to the manager. About 2 minutes later, the Manager of the Day, Denise, came on and patiently reviewed my situation. She was methodical, caring and EFFECTIVE. She is what a manager should be. Kudos to Crate and Barrel for having Denise in this position. She serves her customers well. read more
