    chocolate chip cookies

As a Mount Prospect resident, I received a coupon for 4 chocolate chip cookies for $10, saving about $9 so sure, I'll give it a try! I picked them up and drove them the 7 minutes home and they remained warm in the fancy box. It was very sturdy and and shiny! The cookies were generous in size, gooey in the middle, and not too sweet. The gentleman at the register was knowledgeable about the flavors, answered questions from fellow patrons politely, and offered to replace the cookie in my box that expanded in the oven. My teenaged daughter's stomach doesn't care what it looked like, as long as it was clean, we're all good!...but I did appreciate the attention to detail. I would be happy to purchase these again for my daughter as a treat, but I prefer the chewy texture of the cookies from the warehouse across the street. I am happy I tried them and I wish them the best!

Tonight we were led on a magical journey by Sal and Moe. We talked about cookies in a way I never knew was imaginable. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Sal's warm welcome and smile. We were clogging up the line because we had no idea what we wanted. This man had the patience of a Tibetan monk. He explained how the cookies changed daily and they're made fresh every single day. (The gluten-free option is shipped in but also available and delicious). As we still hesitated to order due to all the beautiful options, Sal said " take your time. It's all good" My crave set in, I sided with a brookie milkshake for the win. I originally asked if other cookies would be a good fit for the milkshake and he instructed me with confidence " if a cookie's too thick, it won't shake". I can appreciate a man who is assertive with his product. It was Joy at first sip. If I could give any advice, always grab a spoon. These shakes are legit and there will be parts of the cookie at the bottom that you will want to experience without a straw. All in all, the cookie shop was absolutely delightful. Atmosphere, the staff, the dessert were all on point. PS. None of the story was embellished. THIS ALL REALLY HAPPENED! Go to crave cookies and see for yourself.

This place was such an experience from start to finish. One of our favorite surprises was the self-serve ramen bar. It was quick, easy, and so much fun! They had a great variety of ramen options, making it easy for everyone to pick exactly what they wanted. We also couldn't resist trying the affogato, which was the perfect little treat. For dessert, we tried both the Misugaru Bingsoo and the Strawberry Ube Bingsoo. I absolutely loved that you can customize your bingsoo with any of their homemade ice cream flavors, and you can even choose between a cup or a bowl. The bingsoo is made with incredibly creamy shaved milk ice, topped with generous scoops of their homemade ice cream and delicious toppings. It was light, fluffy, creamy, and so refreshing. And the ube croffle...I'm still dreaming about it! It was soft, buttery, and crispy all at the same time. It reminded me of a funnel cake topped with ice cream--but somehow even better. It came with the biggest scoop of ice cream, and one thing we noticed throughout our visit was how generous every scoop was. The Asian-inspired ice cream flavors are unlike anything we've had before. Every flavor we tried was rich, creamy, and left us wanting another bite. Our kids absolutely devoured the Oreo ice cream and kept asking for more. This was the perfect family outing. There truly is something for everyone here, whether you're craving ramen, bubble tea, bingsoo, croffles, affogato, or unique homemade ice cream. Next time, I can't wait to try their bubble tea and bring home a few pints of ice cream to enjoy later. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially to our kids, which made the whole experience even more memorable. We felt so comfortable from the moment we walked in. We'll definitely be back again. Thank you so much for having us!! (I didn't get a chance to take more pictures as our family completely devoured everything so quickly!)

Housemade ice creams in Asian inspired flavors that are sure to satisfy any ice cream lover's palette. Love a solid affogato? They've got it. Try it with their vanilla bean or black sesame. Want to taste a classic Korean childhood favorite? Get a scoop of the misugaru (mixed grain). Inside, you'll find a bright white and yellow interior sure to brighten your day, accented with a rainbow wall of what looks like every type of commercially available Korean instant ramen. And on a drizzly weekend like the one I'm currently experiencing, following the Han River Ramen instructions to make your ramen has got to give a similar refreshing sensation. Also, have you HAD a croffle?

Too young to f***" I walked into Daisy's, looked behind the counter, and immediately felt like Chris Hansen was going to rappel through the ceiling. The P.O.A. Index wasn't merely unavailable, it had been confiscated by the State of Illinois, sealed in an evidence bag, and transported somewhere my lawyer strongly advised me not to follow. Everyone working there looked so young that instead of wondering whether anyone was attractive, I started wondering when everyone's mother was coming to pick them up. One girl asked what flavor I wanted and I nearly replied, "Whatever people ate before you were born." This wasn't an ice cream run anymore. This was a mortality check. I entered Daisy's as a reasonably youthful man looking for dessert and walked out mentally pricing burial plots and wondering whether Costco sells Metamucil by the pallet. Fortunately, the ice cream was excellent... except for the non-sensical names. Besides the one labeled "smores" it was like trying to decide the enigma machine from WWII. If one can decipher the flavors... the ice cream is rich, creamy, enormous portions, exactly the kind of old-school neighborhood ice cream that makes you temporarily forget you've apparently become old enough to have employees serving you who don't remember a world before smartphones. Five stars... begrudgingly. I went in wanting a cone. I came out eligible for a reverse mortgage.

However, we…read morecontinue to keep Pastry House Hippo on our revisit list because there are several baked goods that we thoroughly enjoy: melon pan, choco melon pan, cream pan, Doraemon, apple custard pan, and raisin bread. We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.
