    Banoffee pie
    Cristel M.

I love Crumbl's banana cream pie cookie, so I had to try the banoffee pie, too! This cookie was described as "a chilled, buttery graham pie cookie topped with gooey caramel, swirled banana buttercream, whipped cream peaks, and a sprinkle of dark chocolate shavings." The first Crumbl I stopped at (Wheeling) was sold out of this cookie in the middle of the afternoon, but the second location (Arlington Heights) a few miles away had it ready to go. While the description sounded great, in reality this cookie's only flavor was caramel -- and there was a LOT of it! I'll pass on this one next time, but will be back for the banana cream cookie when it returns!

Somewhat recommended. While there is no doubt that you'll be satisfied with the flavors and textures of the cookies here -- it's difficult to give it a strong recommendation based on a few factors. The prices here are quite high -- especially in comparison to other premium treats like Oberweis Ice Cream, Deerfields Pastry, and Smallcakes Cupcakes. While the cookies are generously sized, I felt that each cookie was good -- but not to the point where I was surprised or absolutely delighted by each one. This is where I drew a comparison to each flavor and whether I'd rather have a scoop of mint chocolate ice cream, double chocolate brownie muffin, fresh baked donut, or Reese's peanut butter cup instead. In each instance, I was pretty impressed with how the cookie evoked these flavors, but at this price point I was hoping for an elevated or unique take on each one of these. I was quite impressed though with how good the textures were on each cookie, even if the flavors were good but not great. Overall, good cookies -- and not a bad option if you need a yummy dessert. Just priced a little high for what you're getting in my view.

Crumbl Cookies - Arlington Heights is a very slightly above average cookie for an inflated price. After hearing about Crumbl Cookies on social media and from friends, I was excited to try Crumbl Cookies. When you enter their store you will find that it is very small. There are two kiosks for you to order from. Once you order, your cookies are packaged and handed to you. There is no seating in the restaurant. You take your cookies and go. The cookies came out to be $15.58 for a four pack after taxes. At almost $4.00 per cookie, this was the most expensive I ever eaten. In our four pack we got the Pink Doughnut (a soft vanilla cookie topped with a pink glaze, a splash of rainbow sprinkles, and a hole just like a doughnut!), Mint Chip Ice Cream (a sugar cookie with semi-sweet chips, smooth mint chip mousse, and an artful dollop of whipped cream.), Brownie Batter (A thick and delicious treat crafted with chocolate, brownie batter, and semi-sweet chips.), and Peanut Butter Cholate Chip. I found the Pink Doughnut and Mint Chip Ice Cream to be very bland. The Mint Chip Ice Cream was chilled while the others were served warm. I do appreciate that attention to detail. The two chocolate based cookies did have more flavor to them but were not very special. I can get equivalent or better flavored cookies and virtually any grocery store. I didn't taste anything special about these super expensive cookies. Based on the flavors, taste, and price, I can't recommend Crumbl Cookies - Arlington Heights. I am willing to try more flavors, as long as I'm not the one paying for it.

Ordered a large catering order of mini cookies for a party and half of the order was messed up. First of all, the order was not ready at my scheduled time (and we showed up a little behind schedule, giving them plenty of time to have the order ready). Second of all, two of the boxes were a mess, like they were put together with no care. I tried to call the store to see if they could help me out with a small reimbursement for the cookies I could not present at the party and I never received a call back. Unfortunately the only way to discuss an issue with your Crumbl order is to call the franchise location. This franchise did not even bother to call me back. I will not be returning. There are a million other locations that have provided quality that I will give my business to, and I will avoid the Arlington Heights one.

I revisited when I had a bad experience with house hippo not sure if they changed their chefs or recipe but it was a bad experience across several slices I purchased that day. Long story short I enjoyed the slices here quite a bit and even found their matcha cake tasting better than house hippo's the grade of matcha is higher quality as well. I would say the Kahlua, Tiramisu and the Matcha are among my favorite slices so far, they are glorious with a nice cup of tea and not so sweet that I regret eating a slice and can even consider going for a 2nd. Their crepe I would say is better than Hippo's also, but pastry house hippo had the best chocolate and unique cheese cake I have ever tried. This place does offer unique slices I can't find elsewhere in their own right and will find me as a repeat customer for those slices and the lack of crowds at mitsuwa is another bonus. Cons: When boxed wax paper for each individual cake is not present, which helps when taking the cake out of the box without having to grab the cake.

I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

Initial impression wasn't great... The smell was really the main reason why. The shop itself definitely had a smell, I can't really describe what it was but it was not pleasant. There was one person working, he was polite but did not have much personality. Most of our questions were met with him telling us that we ordered "over there" as he points to the register. It just did not have a very welcoming energy. Only of our kids got ice cream as the flavors did not catch them like they had hoped it would. My Youngest got a coconut ice cream with waffle cone (she loved it), it was a subtle coconut flavor but very refreshing. My oldest daughter got a match drink w boba, hers was also good but not her favorite. I ended up getting the soft serve mix (Tofu/Black Sesame) which was definitely unique and I did enjoy it but no one else i was with did. After checking out, we were offered free stickers which was a nice gesture and I talked about their Japanese Car theme which seemed to liven up the man working momentarily.
