Jarosch is a local Elk Grove bakery that has great donuts. Fresh, tasty, good variety. Staff is nice. Prices are reasonable.

    Scrumptious-ness in a box.

You cannot go wrong with Jarosch Bakery! Sure, it's a little challenging right now to get in and out of the parking lot, due to construction. However, you can enter and exit from Arlington Heights Road. Be a hero at work and bring a box of their donuts and pastries in. They are fresh, sweet, and very rich. Most people split in half because they are generous portions. The service here is fast and be sure to grab a number when it's crowded. They have great cakes here too.

This is the first time going to their new building. Its beautiful inside and very organized. They offered about 10 different flavors of filled Pazckis. The breading was light and fluffy with a hint of powdered sugar. However I was disappointed in the raspberry filling. The filling was very artificial tasting and looking. The filling didnt seem to have a real raspberry in it. This is the first time I have been really disappointed in one of their pastries. I hope they go back to using fresh berries in the filling. Perhaps the cream filled ones are better. I should have bought those. Darn. The packaging said Ideal Bakery. Definitely not made from the Jarosch recipe.

So I went to Jarosch bakery this morning at their NEW location at 111 Higgins Road, about a block to the left of their original address. And the new digs look outstanding. I went in early this morning, before 7am, to pick up some paczkis, their awesome cinnamon raisin bread and my dad's favorite, the Swedish Flat. And we weren't disappointed. So the front counter space is big. Their inside space to wait is, I believe, a little bit bigger compared to their old location. They still have their shelving in there with kolaczkis, assorted breads and pre-boxed paczkis. They are still getting everything together from their move and they didn't have a lot of pazckis available, which is ok because we aren't at Fat Tuesday yet amd last year you could place an order for them online. But their customer service is great as usual, and customers leave with smiles on their faces. I asked one of the employees there how have the longtime customers taken to the new building and she said so far it's been a mix. I love the new place and can't wait to see how they perform when they are all don't acclimating to their new home. Also, they have a awesome looking espresso machine but it isn't up and running when I was there. Thanks for being able to replace my hole in my heart when our local bakery closed a ling time ago.

Ordered a cake for a retirement party and we wanted something special. A yellow/chocolate sheet Cake with strawberry filling was the order, along with a book theme to celebrate our VP of Publishing. Jarosch hit it out of the park with the cake. It was delicious and very cute. We were happy with our choices...the blue frosting turned everyone's mouth blue. Lol. We loved it. The cost was about $125.

I had to visit one of the original and most cherished bakery spots in the Northwest Suburbs, Jarosch Bakery 2 days before they close. Janis will great you with a cheerful and friendly, warm smile. Some of my personal favorites that I grabbed today were the Smiley face cookies, which are always a treat. A 1lb assorted box of cookies which can easily be devoured in one sitting, but they're so tasty that you really want to savor each bite. though Jarosch is relocating, I needed one last smell of freshly baked goods that hits you as you walk in, along with the delicious display of coffee cakes, donuts, cookies, cakes, buns, and so much more. It you can't make it in the next 2-days. Youll be able to check out the new location February, 2026.

Baby shower: white cake, fresh strawberry filling, incredible buttercream frosting. The decorator and CSR Salma are incredible!

Overly sweet, low quality ingredients, nothing impressed me here and nothing unique to purchase.

When will you have Pazcki's available this year?

Are your paczki fried or baked? Thank you.?

Hi Kathy! Our paczki are made the traditional way: they are fried.

Initial impression wasn't great... The smell was really the main reason why. The shop itself definitely had a smell, I can't really describe what it was but it was not pleasant. There was one person working, he was polite but did not have much personality. Most of our questions were met with him telling us that we ordered "over there" as he points to the register. It just did not have a very welcoming energy. Only of our kids got ice cream as the flavors did not catch them like they had hoped it would. My Youngest got a coconut ice cream with waffle cone (she loved it), it was a subtle coconut flavor but very refreshing. My oldest daughter got a match drink w boba, hers was also good but not her favorite. I ended up getting the soft serve mix (Tofu/Black Sesame) which was definitely unique and I did enjoy it but no one else i was with did. After checking out, we were offered free stickers which was a nice gesture and I talked about their Japanese Car theme which seemed to liven up the man working momentarily. My family was not impressed but I enjoyed the experience. Very unique compared to what we are used to seeing. I would most likely return, but I am not confident my family would follow.

Our favorite was the Ube Oreo ice cream. It was super creamy, and the Oreo pieces were the perfect complement to the rich ube flavor. We also tried the tiramisu ice cream. It was good, but I personally didn't think it tasted much like tiramisu. That said, there were so many other flavors that caught my eye, so I'm excited to come back and try more. My sister ordered the jasmine milk tea, and she really enjoyed it. She especially liked that it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, this is a fun spot with unique flavors and a great selection. We'll definitely be back to try more!

However, we…read morecontinue to keep Pastry House Hippo on our revisit list because there are several baked goods that we thoroughly enjoy: melon pan, choco melon pan, cream pan, Doraemon, apple custard pan, and raisin bread. We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.
