We had a Mother's Day dessert mis-hap on the way to my parent's house, Saturday before Mother's day. We had to find a quick place to get some desserts and google told us that this place was close by. I went in expecting to just get a pie for us. They had no big pies... aka the normal size. They only had mini pies. I decided to get 3 mini-pies for 6 people. The guy behind the counter told me that they only do normal size pies for special order. We ordered the chess pie, coconut cream, and a strawberry apple pie. They were really good. My favorite was the coconut, as it was super creamy and light. The other two were also very good and the strawberry pie had a very crunchy almost oat-meal like top. The people were quick and efficient and told me how to properly store the pies for the next day. Super adorable little store that I will definitely visit again soon! read more

Whenever I shop around Duluth Town Green, I like coming here for some pie. I noticed they raised their pie prices to around $6 to some of their pies I believe the Maple Pecan. Me and my friends do like it here but we get irritated that they run out of pies so quickly and so soon. You're a pie business make more pies. :P read more

I have searched everywhere for a chocolate pie with meringue. My Mom used to make them for my birthday each year. She passed away from breast cancer 5 years ago today. These pies are to die for! Not only are they absolutely delicious but I love how they are a smaller portion. I'm not a huge pie fan so it being a smaller size is perfect. The gals working here are so sweet and helpful. I bought my pie as I was waiting for a table at O4W Pizza and one of the girls mentioned that it shouldn't be out of the fridge for longer than 30 min. After I let her know we were waiting to eat dinner she offered to hold it there and we could grab it after dinner. Was in the area on a business trip and had a sweet tooth. Found this charming place on Yelp. It was exactly what I hoped for. First pie on their list was buttermilk bourbon peach. I didn't bother looking any further. Three of my favorite things wrapped in one. It didn't disappoint! Looking at the display case, I'd venture a guess that the others are just as good. After watching Food Network's "Throwdown" with Bobby Flay baking pies I had a HUGE craving! I googled pies in the area and after reading this restaurant's good reviews I decided to take my family here and get a treat! Walking in it's a pretty nice, simple studio and the cashier was very friendly and helpful. The sell mini pies for $5 which I thought was worth about $3 - $3.50 ... Anywho, I wanted something fruity and they had the strawberry pie as well as apple which looked very delicious. My mom got the Chess pie and I decided on the Strawberry. Ok so let's get to it. The strawberry pie was very tart and really not sweet at all. In fact the filling was more like a unsweetened jelly. The crust tasted like crackers. I'm use to having a soggy crust at the bottom so it was different to have it flaky all over. Still as mentioned, to me it tastes like crackers. I have a toddler who took one bite and wanted no more and I couldn't blame him. My mom found the Chess pie to be just ok. She described it as baking a brownie but not all the way so it tastes kind of gooey. Finally I decided to try the quiche simply out of curiosity. I haven't really had quiche except for one time and the quiche of the day was "Southern Chicken" so I said I would give it a shot. Took it home, warmed it up in the oven and it was pretty darn good. All in all, these are not your grandmama's pies. I wouldn't come back for the fruity pies but I definitely would come back for the quiche if I was in the area and drove right by the building. Other than that I would pass on this place and would not think twice of it. I appreciate the experience tho. read more

Crave pie is a fantastic addition to downtown Duluth. Though Crave is closed on Sunday and Monday, every other day Crave offers a variety of sweet and savory individual pies (still enough to share), with the menu changing daily. During the fall, there are traditional fall pies, and during the spring and summer there are seasonal fruit pies. Every day also sees a different quiche (some great variety here) and/or pot pie (usually chicken, but not always). The quiche are light and fluffy, the pot pies are loaded with veggies, and the cream doesn't overpower. Brianna and the rest of the staff at Crave are very accommodating. They cater events and do special orders for holiday pies. I once asked for an apple pie with a cheese crust and Brianna did one better: Apple pie, cheddar crust, bacon streusel! Absolutely loved it. The owner was so friendly and the pies were amazing as well. I bought 4 mini 5'' pies as well as the pie box. I especially enjoyed the maple pecan pie, which might be a bit too sweet for some people but was perfect for me. I purchased a maple pecan pie from Carve Pie at the Suwanee Farmer's Market. I was let down by the taste of the filling and crust. The filling was very soupy and did not taste at all like a pecan pie. The crust had a very overpowering butter like taste. I returned the following week and told them on my displeasure with the pie. They gave me a complimentary strawberry apple pie. The filling was a little better (maybe a 3) but the crust was still not appetizing. I appreciate the good customer service, but will not be purchasing any more pies from Crave Pie. read more

I have been passing by this shop for the last few weeks on our way to Satellite Blvd. in Duluth. We decided to stop by today. Very lovely shop. We ordered two mini pies, the Chocolate chess and the Banana Cream. We enjoyed both pies immensely! The only complaint I had was on the pie crust on the chess pie, it was a little tough. Not sure if we got a bad batch, but what a bummer this outing turned out to be. After reading so many good reviews, we decided to go out for a special treat with family that was visiting from out of town. The service was great, and we each picked out a different mini pie for dessert that night (we bought them around 5:00pm, and ate them around 6:45-7:00pm). The blueberry and peanut butter pie crusts had absolutely ZERO taste, and the fillings weren't much better. The blueberry filling tasted like some cheap jelly was poured in, and the peanut butter tasted like it was spoiled. The maple pecan pie was VERY sweet (never had a pecan anything that sweet) but the raspberry-peach pie was pretty good. At $5.99 a piece we are extremely disappointed in how these pies turned out. Judging by all the reviews we had read before hand, I'm assuming we just a fluke... but I have no desire to try again. read more

I was excited to see this bakery. I was disappointed to taste the pies. I got Dutch Apple and my 11 year old son got the Chocolate pie (I can't remember the exact type) I love desserts, and my favorite pies are fruit, but honestly the Dutch Apple was okay, nothing special, as was the chocolate one. They certainly were not worth the $6 plus each price. The atmosphere was grim. Granted, it was around noon on a Wednesday, but seriously, a bakery should be cheerful at all times. the girl working the counter was nice, but she seemed afraid to say or do anything that would get her in trouble or might upset the person who I assume was the owner, who was seated at the back at a table. I was a little disappointed that on our trip they didn't offer apple pie. I know their selections change by day, but it seems like apple pie should be a standard. The pie I ended up with was berry pie. Although it seemed more like a cobbler it was very delicious. Not too sweet, and without a whole lot of seeds. my first pie experience was today. Everything look scrumptious. I had the key lime pie and my oh my it was the best key lime pie i ever had.. Even when i was in the Florida Keys. The crust was perfect.. not too crumbly, not to dry, not too sweet with a hint of butter. I can not wait to try the other pies... So much for my diet.. Back to being a fat ass...... Awesome local pie shop located in picturesque downtown Duluth! Honestly, you can't go wrong on any pie they offer. I am a always a sucker for tart cherry, but anything with an oatmeal crumble topping can catch my attention. Also the cold pies such as banana cream need attention. One pie can most reasonably be split between 2 people, or maybe even 4 people, but it would make more sense for 4 people to split 2 pies. Actually you can eat a whole pie yourself! Depends on how hungry you are! My recommendation is to get 4 different pies and then share :-) read more

We really like Crave Pie and go at least once a month or so. Love trying the different pies and can't say that I've had a bad one. However today I went in to pick up 6 pies and was "helped" by the surliest, most indifferent, silent young lady ever. I don't know know why, but she really turned me off the place. I'd give this place 5 stars but we've come here twice (both Saturdays) and they only had quiche as a savory option. Their pies, though, are very good, and we've now has a half dozen different ones with no disappointment in any of them (even a quiche one). And the folks are very patient and pleasant with us, explaining everything in the pie and the differences between the chocolate chess and chocolate pudding. If you're in the area, be sure and try them out. They're not cheap, but they're reasonable and worth the price. read more
