The option to order online is incredibly convenient and the staff are always very pleasant. Although it was my first time at this establishment, I was treated like family/long time customer- it somehow felt like home. So the outside does match the inside feel :) - I loved it! I ordered an array of pastries just for quality assurance. They were all up to code! I especially liked their bars which came in many flavors. Cakes for decent, though not necessarily my most favorite. Would I get cakes there again? Some of them yes. Very disappointed in the hummingbird cake. Didn't see any pineapple didn't see any coconut and don't remember seeing pecans or nuts either in the cake or a frosting. It seems nowadays a lot of bakeries are cutting their cream cheese frosting with something else so it's not really all cream cheese frosting and honey. They must be cutting it with cream, butter or something else I don't know what... Probably the only place any more that you can get a good cream cheese frosting is from some private individual that makes cakes for people. Let me start by saying this has been my go to bakery for 5+ years. The food is uh-mazing. I came in this week after my monthly doctors appointments. It's always in the evening time. I have looked forward to coming to this bakery for years but not here lately. The laughs and friendless is what made the place feel like home especially when you get no good news from the doctors. Or even good news you want to share. The staff is off. I've met so many new people with a friendly face over the years but the past year isn't it. I asked to speak to the manager/owner and the young lady told me they do not have managers. I just said okay and didn't talk about it anymore. Had a baby shower for today (Sunday) ordered my cake Friday afternoon. Even with it being pretty last minute the cake turned out beautiful and tasted wonderful. Scheduling the design consultation for my wedding cake was streamlined and extremely detailed. They seriously made my wedding day! I can not thank Bill Rhodes Bakery enough for relieving me of a stressful situation. I am not bashing my floral company, but they did drop the ball days before my wedding day. When I scheduled my floral consultation, I was told that the day of my wedding they would come out and set up my floral arrangement on my wedding cake. Being that my husband and I got married Thanksgiving week, I already knew a lot of businesses weren't operating on their usual schedules. I ordered a vanilla sheet cake and received a round cake. My aunt went to pick up the cake as I live far from the bakery. I called Rhodes Bakery to let them know and ask about the price difference if they can give some money back. They wouldn't do it. They wanted me to bring the cake back that was received and then wait for the original cake that was order. We kept the cake wrong cake due the bakery being far away and once we cut in the next day the cake was the wrong flavor. I called back again and talked the Manager Nicole, who is the worst customer service worker. She doesn't know how to talk to people and kept blaming the cake problem on me. I stopped in here from time to time to pick up a little treat. And what better time to stop in then Christmas the busiest time of the year for a bakery. What I will say is they had plenty of treats available for customers. Even as busy as the bakery was the day before Christmas Eve the staff was super friendly super helpful all around amazing to deal with. I was able to get a beautiful assortment of petty force and cookies and a pie, they were prepared. They had a separate area for pick up of pre-orders. Everything ran smoothly, and I was in and out in no time. Other bakeries and stores should really look at this model because they have figured out how to capitalize at the busiest time by not wasting the customers time, by making sure the staff is friendly and helpful, and has recommendations, even with limited supply of things. I guess thats typically, like everything else in this world... I ordered my husband a theme pool table cake $180 went to pick it up, it looked like a Kroger's sheet cake with burnt chopsticks.. I was crushed because, the cakes are usually the conversation piece of the party... I knew that I couldn't take nor pay for that cake. I noticed this bakery by happenstance on my way to a client's office & decided to stop & pick up a few treats for them. The employees were busy rolling out dough & baking away as I walked in. I learned this family owned place has been around since the 80s - & it shows. First impressions - the dark and dingy interior dulled my usual bakery excitement. Their baked goods were displayed in glass cases that could use a good cleaning. And speaking of cleaning, I caught a whiff of bleach instead of sugary goodness. I perused their offerings & selected a few cookies and cheese straws / stars. The verdict? I'd say they get a 'B' on taste. They'd do themselves a favor if they made their baked goods more presentable (upgraded packaging). Some items seem like something you'd get at a bake sale, not a professional bakery. Part of the fun of digging into a treat is unwrapping it! Despite the appearance of their storefront, they're obviously skilled in their craft to have the staying power that they have! We've bought many birthday cakes and other sweet treats from Rhodes Bakery for 25 years or so. As far as I know, no one has ever been disappointed. Cakes can be decorated as you want them and they are always ready on time. Back when there were little kids in the family, many a birthday cake was made with a theme - firetrucks, trains, etc. They were always done right and tasted good, too! This time it was a birthday cake requested with lots of flowers done in pastel colors. The attached photo will show you the result. I stopped by to get it and after giving it the OK, it was carefully boxed. Perhaps my decrepitude is more evident than I thought, as the young lady offered to carry it to my car and I let her. The cost was $41 with no carrying charge! If you just want to drop in and grab a cake, cookies, or other goodies, you can as they have a large inventory in stock. We have been going here for all our birthday cakes for our entire family for many years. Our last two experiences have not been good at all. Both cakes were dry and dense. I did not contact them the first time figuring everyone can make a mistake and due to our long history there. I did contact them this time and got an email saying next time your not happy with your cake drive it back to us and we will see what's wrong with it. Gave them an opportunity to make this right before writing a review. After buying 5 or 6 cakes a year for at least 20 years thought response would have been better. Very disappointed. Rude customer service. I have been a customer of this bakery for years and ordering cake for my important occasions and even client events. I did a spontaneous stop by the bakery today to get a dessert for my wedding anniversary. Of course I didn't expect to find a large assortment but I also didn't expect to be greeted with a rude, dry and downplay of customer service from Ahna M. The display of customer service was so blatant that a customer inside the bakery prior to me entering look at me with embarrassment. I asked questions regarding a whole cake versus a half cake and who would have thought I was having a conversation with myself. Her satisfaction to me as a long term customer was an experience that I never would have thought to experience at the bakery. So after that experience the joyful feeling for my anniversary and having a dessert from Bill Rhodes bakery was a feeling of no more. If it wasn't for that fact that my spouse wanted a dessert from the bakery and I drove from downtown before closing I would have left and not made a purchase. It only takes one bad experience and this experience will have me consider other options for dessert going forward. She was rude, snapping back, made a comment under her breath when I pursued to make a purchase. If you go to Bill Rhodes Bakery I do hope your experience is better than what I experienced today. I suggest Ahna M. learn to enjoy her job more and realize that a customer is the reason she is there and this experience may as well cost the bakery one less customer. I have driven past here without noticing it at least 25 times! I purchased a cake for my husband's birthday about 3 days before and it was ready for pick up early on the day I requested it. It was special made, and exactly what I ordered. It looks and tastes perfect! Outside of ordering cakes in the future, I am definitely going to be swinging by for some sweet treats. They have tons of things to choose from and the staff is very friendly! The parking lot is small and you can easily miss it- just look for a large blue and white sign outside of a log cabin (adorable). They maintain a hefty stock of popular items but did say that if you want to pick up as much as a dozen cupcakes for instance, please call ahead. There's nothing like a mom and pop bakery located inside a cute little cabin style house off a main highway. This isn't your publix bakery it's your grandma's kitchen. They can custom make beautiful and delicious cakes for all occasions. They have some pre-made cakes if you are in a pinch and they are sure to be a hit. I love that they serve tons of individual sized treats too, like delicious frosted sugar cookies (seasonal shapes - flowers, hearts, butterflies, pumpkins, etc), petit fours, cup cakes (mmm, red velvet cake), cannolis, danishes, standard chocolate chip cookies, muffins, mini cream pies (chocolate, coconut, key lime)...the list goes on and on. The prices are low and everything is super yummy. For about $5 you can walk out with a box of treats, a huge smile and enough chubbin' goodness to add a pound or so to that chizzled body. read more

First time here and bought the Pumpkin Bread, a Fruitcake, and their famous cheese cookie thingies; I really liked all but the cheese cookie thingies as they where REALLY SALTY (YUCK)! The Pumpkin Bread is simply fantastic; it is bursting with flavor and moistness! And dare I say that they have some of the BEST Fruitcake I have ever tasted; rated as best next to my Grandmother's recipe of course. Overall, what I bought was mostly good stuff but very PRICEY as the Pumpkin Bread cost me $8.00: the Fruitcake which is the size of the Pumpkin Bread was $20.00 (OUCH): the Cheese cookie thingies where $6.00. My grand total for the three items plus tax hit $36.04 and although I really like the Pumpkin Bread and Fruitcake, I honestly can't say I would buy again for the money; OK, I would sell my first child for the Pumpkin Bread alone...it is really good! Of note: None of the items where pre-priced or even displayed with any prices, so I was a bit shocked at the total; yes, I should have asked for item prices before making my purchase, but the staff was VERY busy so I didn't want to put stuff back after they where rung up. Just moved back to town was do excited to go to Rhodes. Surprisingly there were no eclairs or puff pastries in the case. I guess they brought some in from the feeezer, word to the wise, no good, frosting stiff, pastry doesn't taste fresh after being frozen. Yummy in my tummy. We ordered some custom shugar cookies for my son's first birthday party from Bill Rhodes Bakery. The salesperson carefully went over the design with us to make sure she understood everything we wanted: sky blue glaze, white scripted 'B', sugar cookie, 3 dozen. The cookies were ready on time for pickup and were solidly packed for transport. They were moist, delicious and maintained their level of quality several days later after the party.
