The ambiance is a little dingy but my server was helpful and thoughtful. The thing I was most looking forward to was a dud (peanut butter pie), but the caprese salad was fresh and flavorful and the Alfredo made vegetarian was full of wonderfully smoky vegetables. read more

Ate here for the first time! We live down the mountain in Elkin and wanted to try something different. We ordered the fried calamari, salmon orleans dish, and lasagna. The calamari was very chewy and unfit to eat, however the waitress was very understanding and allowed us to swap out our appetizers for the pretzel sticks with beer cheese, and they were okay! The lasagna and salmon was fantastic, no complaints. I will say, I think the price point may be a little high.. Overall, I wasn't super impressed, but didn't leave hungry. Not sure if I will make the drive up the mountain to come back. read more

Crave is always a good bite! Our party of four adults and two kids were seated quickly even though it is a Friday night. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Food arrived quickly and was served hot! I ordered the Salmon Orleans- grilled salmon with a honey garlic sauce, paired with shrimp and two sides. Crave is superb in every way! We hosted a rehearsal dinner here on Friday, May 3, and Jeff and staff made the dinner one of the most fabulous experiences of the entire wedding weekend. From the time we started planning the dinner, Jeff was super helpful and easy to work with. The waitresses who took care of us anticipated our needs/requests before we even asked! I can't say enough good things about Jeff and his sweet staff. Since it was a large party, Jeff made special menus that included five entrees that I chose from his regular dinner menu. He even put the bride and groom's names on the menu, which I thought was a sweet, special touch! We had zucchini fries, mozzarella sticks, and house fries while we waited on our entrees (the homemade ranch dressing with them was sooo yummy!) For the main course, our guests chose from lasagna, chicken marsala, chicken alfredo, salmon, and ribeye steak. The food came out quickly, and everything was cooked perfectly. If this resturant was in Raleigh, it would be a solid 3. It's in the middle of nowhere in Sparta, NC and for this area, it's a solid 4. The resturant is very clean with a personable and helpful staff. The menu has completely changed from what is posted....it's 1/4 the size. The lasagna is not covered in Alfredo as pictured just 3 months ago. Sadly, that would have improved the rather bland flavor. The breadstick is not homemade. The standout was the peppercorn dressing on the salad. It was advertised as homemade and is really really good. I'd eat here again given the choices.....just don't expect authentic italian.... read more

We had the most excellent meal at Crave while vacationing in Sparta. From the moment we were seated, our entire experience, from appetizer, dinner, and service, was top notch. After a day of traveling we were starving so we ordered the Artichoke and Spinach dip along with our main courses. You do NOT wanna miss this dip y'all...it was so sooooo good! The only thing better than the dip was the Italian Wedding Soup that came with my lasagna entree. It's probably one of the best soups I've ever had. It was so good that I got a take out order of it again the next evening. While I feasted on the wonderful soup, my husband devoured all the wings and raved about them the whole time. Our server was exceptionally nice and attentive. She made great suggestions and made sure my tea glass stayed full...which is always a plus in my book! Our entrees were wonderful as well, but to be honest, we were so stuffed by the time they arrived that we wound up boxing them up and ordering a to-go Tiramisu to have later at the hotel. My lasagna was good, and the Alfredo on it was OUTSTANDING , but my husband's cheeseburger was even better. I'm not sure what magic they used to season that burger but it was phenomenal....and the tiramisu was the perfect end to our late evening leftover snack session. If you're in the area, or planning to be, make sure you add Crave to you list of must-eat places. After this meal, my husband said that he wants to move to Sparta if for no other reason than to eat at Crave whenever we want! I can see us becoming regulars to Sparta. We loved the town and Crave. I definitely want to go back and sample some of their signature craft cocktails since I didn't get to this time. So what are you waiting for? Get to Crave! We had a late lunch at Crave on a Friday afternoon. The PBLT (pesto bacon lettuce & tomato) was unique and really tasty, especially paired with the fries, which were good enough that you didn't want to mess them up with catchup or ranch dressing! The fajita steak quesadilla was fantastic! The food was made to order, and the quality showed! It was refreshing to have good service and such a good meal at an extremely fair price! We don't get to Sparta as much as we like, but I look forward to the next time we are up from Charlotte and our next visit to Crave! We eat at Crave quite often and it's one of Sparta's best. The lasagna, spaghetti, chicken parmigiana and Caesar salad are all good. We really love the fried ravioli appetizer. The last time we went they were short handed, and one of the waitresses was hostess, server and bussing tables. So the service was a little slow but she was busting her butt to make it happen. We'll continue to go and support this restaurant. read more

Had nice dinner and drinks while looking for properties in the area. Had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was crisp, fresh and tasty. My husband had the wings and he said they were cooked just right! Had the house wine which was great and the cookie desert which was to die for!! The waitress and staff were very nice. Took my mom and aunt there for dinner tonight. It's a Friday and we went early. They had about half the tables full. Service was great. Good selection of drinks, we had some nice wine. The food was reasonably priced and tasted homemade, down to the salad dressings. Sparta needed a nice place like this. Recommend very much so...I'll be back! read more

I tried this place for the first time last night. Let me tell you it was not the best. I ordered the $21 stake expecting a delicious, melt in your mouth stake. I must have set my experiences to high. What I ended up with was a burned piece of beef jerky. My son ordered off of the kids menu. He choose the cheeseburger sliders with out cheese and french fries. The fries where his favorite, when I asked him why he wasn't eating his burger's he informed me that they where not burger's. I tried one and trust me it was not like any burger I had tasted before. The salmon dish was relatively plain, the sauce was thin and tasted mostly of water and cream. The salmon was cooked well and was dry.
