I was tugged towards the pound cake, or maybe the chocolate layer cake or the pineapple cake but then I saw my Momma's favorite, Italian Cream Cake! It was always so hard to find (and a pain to make) so when I saw that in the display I knew that's the one I had to try. I have no regrets. It's a perfectly balanced cake with the right amount of frosting and mix-ins such as nuts and coconut. It's perfectly sweet and moist. When someone says they want Italian cream cake, this is what they want! Now I know where to go to order my cakes as just from this slice, I can tell this is the spot. We found Puzzle Piece Pastries via Yelp and made the drive specifically to give them a shot. Yelp showed they were open until 5. We arrived about 4:15 (it was 4:20 when I got back in my vehicle). The sign on the door was flipped to "open" (see attached pic). I went in and was informed upon entering that they closed at 4. They were very nice about it but they were in the process of cleaning. The friendly faces and the warm smiles that greet you are truly one of a kind. I went there for breakfast with my sister, and the homemade apple danish was absolutely delicious. They also have a coffee kiosk area, where you can add your own cream and sugar. We were able to sit inside for as long as we wanted, and our server, Stephanie, came over to make sure that my coffee was hot and asked if I wanted a refresher.
