When in Boise you got to visit this store. They have a lot of the old time candy. I picked up some Sugar Daddy's, a Zero bar, and some Silly Putt. My Granddaughter will love them. It was fun to see bubblegum cigars and candy cigarettes again. The lady behind the counter was supper nice. Directed me to some old favorites. They even have old commercials playing on a TV. I absolutely love this place!!!! It has such an old school feel to it and much more personality to it. I love that there are still locally owned shops like this around? They also have the best gelato in town! Lots of places claim to sell gelato....well they don't but Cravins does! It is the closest to real gelato that we have seen that is not in Italy. Of course...we don't live on the east coast or anything but none-the-less it is so good! This is also my go to place for glass bottle soda. They have almost all of my favorites there. The only thing I wish they could get in is glass bottle A&W root beer but I think that stuff is extremely difficult to get these days. I love this place and highly recommend it! read more

This review is easy. Want candy or gelato...Come here!!! It's an old timey candy store filled with great tastes. I must use restraint as I live less than half a mile from this location. The temptation is severe...Grin. The one purchase I will talk about profusely is different than one might expect. I obtained my favorite coffee mug from here. I use it daily. They have quite the variety to choose from and that should bring you here as I won't tell what mine says, but it does fit me. As for their chocolate confections...Amazing!!! Located in the Bown downtown district, a really hot area in southeast Boise and maybe ten minutes from downtown Boise, this place has anything and everything you'll need to satisfy your cravings. Whether it is chocolate, candy, gelato, or sweets, this is the place. Really appreciated the terrific customer service by the two young ladies who were both informational and patient. It's a huge store, loaded with numerous options. Something there will resonate, no doubt, as I dare you to walk out without nabbing something. This is a fantastic candy shop in southeast Boise at Bown Crossing. My beautiful pregnant Wife, baby boy and I went in for the first time today. They have a wide variety of nostalgic candy, games and gag gifts. They also have a selection of fresh chocolate, rice crispy treats and gelato. This place is obviously perfect for kids but also for adults to relive their childhood and get some good treats. The girl working there was quite friendly and the shop is clean. There's even an area where kids can watch Charlie and the chocolate factory and other classics while sitting in old theater style seats. My son is three and absolutely loved this place. This candy store is pure heaven for my three kids. It's fun for adults too because there are lots of old school candy that will remind you of your childhood. The store has fun novelty candy too. One child got a slot machine candy dispenser and another child got a working squirt gun with a candy barrel attached to it. I got some super yummy and thick gelato. All gelato flavors are marked with letters on the labels to indicate if it has dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, etc. They have one flavor that is dairy and egg free. Very cool candy store! You'll find just about everything here. Old fashioned candy, new candy, bulk candy, peez, Icecream, and gourmet chocolates. It really is like full on candy store! We ended up getting a few different candies. My daughters picked out gummy dolphins out of the bulk and a peez because there is literally so many peez characters. I got sour belts out of the bulk and a salted chocolate Carmel. My husband got just some old fashion hard candies. I thought all the candies were good except for my sour belts. I'm usually a huge sour candy person and especially sour belts bug the flavor of these ones weren't great. The Salted Chocolate Carmel however was bomb. I'm assuming anything out of the homemade chocolate case would be bomb even though it's a little pricey. Overall this is a great store and it's outside of downtown Boise but if you are in the area I think it's worth a stop. I personally would just love for the store to be bigger and have more bulk candy options but besides that I think it'd be like perfect candy store. This is a fun store you can find all the stuff you haven't seen since you were a kid. Very dangerous place, however, as soon as your hands get full of all the items you wish to purchase there is the dreaded candy bucket to put it all in and more. Luckily, I got out of there for about $35 but yeah it's all very tempting. I had not seen a store like this but upon further research. I remember when this place was Powell's. I absolutely loved coming in. When the name was changed I loved that they kept it the same inside. I respected them for that. I love the chocolate truffles. I went in a couple weeks ago when I was visiting from London and was extremely disappointed to say the least. The atmosphere and product were above and beyond, but the service made the entire experience awful. There were two teenagers behind the counter loudly chatting about customers and making rude remarks. I believe their name tags said Becca and Matt, but I could be wrong. They were pushing each other and horsing around when I first walked in, and neither one of them even acknowledged me, and then when I was looking in the chocolate case, I heard them talking about how awful one of the customers smelled, and how annoying it is when customers come in within an hour of closing. As if that weren't enough, when it was clear the girl didn't think anyone was looking, she pulled a hair out of the gelato, and then grabbed a sample spoon and ate bites out of a couple gelatos - WITH THE SAME SPOON! I will NEVER be returning, and will make sure to tell my friends and family of the horror I witnessed ! It is so incredibly unsanitary and unprofessional to be double dipping and eating bites out of the gelatos especially when there are customers in the store. Not only is it disgusting that this girl deposited bits of her saliva into multiple gelatos, but she was also very rude and short with the customers. She would greet someone nicely, and then talk to her coworker about the customers appearance or weight. On top of all of this, they were gossiping about the managers, and how annoying they were. They were also talking about how they are planning on quitting and trying to get jobs at the Mall and Home Depot. They continued to discuss the fact that if the store had microphones along with the cameras- they would each be fired!! This place is clearly ran by teenagers, and is not under proper management. The employees were rude, unsanitary, and unprofessional. I am appalled by the lack of customer service. read more

Just walking through the doors transforms you back to your childhood. With Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory playing in the background it's pretty easy to get carried away with a hearty stash of all things sweet. Whether that's Good or bad- you decide. I grew up in Canada and there is a long list of candies I can only get in Canada that I absolutely adore...but now I can find all of my favorites here. It's always a great and comforting go-too when I have a sweet tooth and it's just down the street from our house. Added bonus. Powells is one of our favorite places to take family and friends who are visiting from out of town. Their gelato is delicious and you can find nearly every candy under the sun. It's fun to take a walk down memory lane while browsing through candy I used to enjoy as a child. One of my personal favorites is the candy cigarettes... I've never been a smoker but I loved pretending as a kid haha. I love this place! The only downside is that there is only one location, and it's pretty far out on the edge of town. I would give it 5 stars if it were more centrally located. I really wish they would get a little place in the mall. The first time I came in I was looking for Flying Saucers, but the closest thing they have are Satellites, which are similar but nasty. I bought some thinking they were the same thing only to find they had hard Nerd-like candies inside in stead of foaming powder! The next time I went, the employees were great trying to help me find another substitute, but to no avail. What a cute little shop in such a fun little area of Boise! Their tiramisu gelato is AMAZING!! You can get fresh spun cotton candy on a machine when you first walk in for only $2! Their bulk candy seems to be reasonably priced. Actually, I'd say their prices overall are extremely reasonable considering it's a specialty shop.
