We ordered: Dinner Rolls (A): so soft and pillowy. Excellent Fried Pickles (A): probably the best fried pickles we've ever tried Salmon Dip (B): pretty good, although we've had much better Porterhouse Steak (B+): nice and juicy Salmon (B+): fresh and moist, accompanied by good flavor Fries (A-): thick, crunchy, and fluffy in the inside Salad (B-): standard fare, nothing special All in all, we enjoyed our evening at Marshall Steakhouse. We read about Marshall forever ago online. We had wanted to stop by while driving from MO to MS. We finally did and it was worth the detour from our usual route. Service was fantastic with the biggest side of hospitality. I did not expect our night to be Italian night. The server helped us choose a dish from that menu to share and we ordered the ribeye. Both dishes were outstanding. It was rainy outside so the wood burning fireplace was cozy. The wood tables are beautiful. We will definitely be back during another trip! read more

My wife got the shrimp and grits, and let me tell you, she couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was just right, and everything came out hot and fresh. Decent service and steaks but extra charge for all extras. I asked for smothered in onions and mushrooms and the waitress said okay. My order order arrived with neither so when I asked she said they were out of onions. She later showed up with a bowl of mushrooms. They were cold so I sent them back. Our first time...when ordering I asked could I substitute a wedge salad instead of the house salad...server said yes just for a small up charge. my husband did the same thing asking for Caesar salad. I received 1/2 head of iceberg lettuce including the core. the steaks were delicious - ribeye and filet. When we received the bill, we had been charged full price for our salads not a small up charge. our server took the bill to the manager and came back saying she'd made a mistake and the manager would not compensate us for his server's error. We would have accepted the house salad that came with our steaks had we known we would be charged full price for the others. Dining experience isn't just about the food, its staff, service etc. We don't want anything we didn't pay for so Marshall Steakhouse, you owe us two house salads that came with our meal since we paid full price for different salads. And it is doubtful we will be back because of how this was handled. By the way, we are good tippers and left $40 for our server. Folks can make mistakes we get that, our issue is with management not making good on his server's error. Thing is, we won't be back after paying $178.00 for two steak dinners, no appetizers or alcohol...just upgraded our salads. This stop requires just a couple of miles off the interstate and a backtrack to get back on the interstate. The reviews looked to be good so we stopped! We've been on the coast and had fish all week so a good steak sounded good! The grounds are awesome - they include outdoor areas for dining, an outdoor play area - a large area that looks to be good for a festival or dance party. There are outdoor decorative lights hanging through the trees to add to the yard ambience. The porch is large and inviting with rocking chairs and games. There is a playground area outside the restaurant too. The smell coming off the porch as you enter the property is divine. The smell of beef being prepared over an open coal fire was just wonderful. Their meats are hand carved from what they describe as the top 1% premium beef in the US. They have twice earned the best steak of the year in Mississippi. The service was friendly and quick. The choices were varied and offered beef and seafood. The place is friendly for families, kids included and a couple could also have a nice dinner to celebrate a special occasion. The French Onion Soup, the rolls with butter and the house salad with homemade ranch dressing were all outstanding. The rolls were soft and hot and similar to the Parker house roll but softer with a nice golden color and just hint of firmness without being too much. The French onion soup came out in a hot cup straight from the ovens the entire time I ate the soup - it never stopped steaming! It was perfect with a good topping of cheese and nice base of caramelized onions and croutons with a salty onion soup base. We had two entrees - one was a 7ounce filet cooked medium well and a baked potato with sour cream and butter. The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The potato was a great consistency and served piping hot. We had a ground top sirloin steak cooked well done with caramelized onions on the top and Marsala mushroom sauce. Drove across town to try a sought after restaurant in the neighboring state for my husband's birthday. We made reservations for 6:00 on a Friday night. The place was hopping and they were using their overflow parking lot, but we were sat almost immediately with little to no wait. The restaurant has an old barn vibe which is super cool and laid back. They have lots of large tables to accommodate big parties and they often set two parties on opposite ends of the table which is what we did for our party of three. Janice was our server and she was AWESOME! Super kind lady who explained everything thoroughly to us as it was our first time at the establishment. While we all enjoyed our steaks, the sides were just mediocre and there was an up charge for almost everything. The four stars verses 5 is simply for the up-charges. I feel like if you are paying the price for a decent steak, you shouldn't be asked to pay almost five dollars to put bacon and cheese on a salad and four dollars extra for Mac and cheese or potato casserole. With that being said, my filet was amazing and the garlic herb butter is really something special. We definitely enjoyed the whole experience. I don't remember ever having a better steak than the 150z Prime Rib at Marshall Steakhouse. Over the years I've had the pleasure of enjoying steaks at Old Homestead, Sparks, Ruth Chis, III Forks, Sullivans and Smith & Wollensky's, to name a few. Last night, Marshall Steakhouse beat them all in my opinion. We drove two hours and fifteen minutes from Skullbone Tennessee (Gibson County) to try this establishment and we will be doing so periodically going forward. Our reservation was for 6:00pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived at 5:45pm and were already seated at 5:48pm. By 6:07pm we had already ordered and received our drinks and appetizers. Our dinner order was placed. By 6:15 we had received our main course. We were finished and paid at 6:48pm. We weren't rushed whatsoever. I was impressed this business could seat and serve this quality of food to so many and so quickly and efficiently. A well oiled business operation in my book. The venue is excellent. It is the kind of place that makes you feel at home. The ambiance is very relaxing, cordial and fun. Excellent menu and full service bar. The staff and the service were friendly and professional. Our server, Sean, was very knowledgeable, and attentive to our requests. We appreciated Sean's work. The proprietor, Randall Swaney is a gracious host that visited every guest and thanked them for coming out. Just an excellent host. Stopped in on a Tuesday night expecting steakhouse food and it's Italian night based in Grissanti food which we knew was good! The staff and proprietor were super friendly who knew the menu well and which were able to share their favorite menu items. This rustic nostalgia was weird for Italian food which is on par for steakhouse nights. The music was different too for the motifs of the master room and tables. After passing this spot while driving down 22/78, my husband and I decided to give this a try for date night. I secured reservations for us at 7pm. After getting off the Red Banks Rd exit, you drive about 3 miles down the road and then stumble upon tons of cars outside of a large building. We sat for a few minutes before anyone came by. I was totally okay with that seeing that they were extremely busy. Our server was very friendly and offered a few suggestions. I decided to go with the filet and my husband tried the ribeye. We received our Caesar salads, which were hearty portions. The salads were loaded with Caesar dressing and a bit overwhelming. I will be sure to request my dressing on the side the next tine. My filet was seasoned to perfection and the flavor was amazing. Unfortunately, it was overcooked and a bit dry. My husband was extremely pleased with his ribeye which actually was undercooked (I think the requests were mixed up.) Took 3 people there last night and spent $320. I'm a business owner since 2004. I understand that no one can be 100% every day. We all have off days/nights. But here's our experience: From the time we sat down until we left was 2.5 hours. It was "Italian Tuesday," but I wanted a steak. They offer 3...and they were out of two of them. So it was Ribeye or nothing. Ribeye is good, but I'm not a huge fan so I got the chicken parm. It took us 30 minutes for my wife to get a very simple glass of "house red" wine. No tablecloth. The pair of fishermen sitting next to us were in shorts and camo. No problem. I'm a a casual dude. But then the wine comes out and they'd run of of glasses, so no one had a matching glass. I could not care less. But my wife is more discriminating. For over $300 she expected excellent food and service. The food was GOOD. But the manager - who spent most of his time taking selfies with various patrons - never once offered perhaps a loaf of bread, a discount, nothing. Bottom line: Good (not great) food. Ran out of all steak that wasn't a ribeye. Inexplicably slow service. And a premium bill. It's a popular place. Their success is assured. But I won't be back. Too many other good places. read more

A new and amazing steakhouse find! In my quest to try all of the steak, I stopped at Marshall to give it a try. It's been voted best steak in Mississippi so since I've tried Doe's I thought I'd see if it really was. We started with a dozen oysters which were large, fresh and delicious. For dinner I had the 7oz filet and loaded baked potato. Being a steak lover, I wasn't really sure that the small filet would be enough (they have a 10oz) but as usual my steak eyes are bigger than my stomach. With the oysters and potato it was plenty of food. The steak was seasoned perfectly (more seasoning than most places and not just with salt) and was a really great cut. They top it with an herb butter that was perfect. The service is stellar and the owner comes by to every table to check in on you. They also take photos of the customers for their Facebook page so check that out before you go to get the look and feel of the place. It's very rustic and if you like you can take your photo in front of a giant bear. I'll be back and next time I'll save room for dessert read more

Excellent visit from start to finish. Good quick service from server, she was able to answer a couple questions we had. Inside is very country-esque (if that's a word?) I took a pic or two of the interior. Steaks and lamb rack and burger all cooked exactly as ordered. Generous portions on appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) and tasty home made pita with it. First time here, very cool outdoor & indoor environment. Location is very isolated off of I-22 outside of Holly Springs, MS. Staff are very friendly overall, from the guys in the parking lot helping people get a spot on a busy night to the management roaming the restaurant introducing themselves, taking pictures for their social media accounts, and checking up on food & service... all of that meets and exceeds expectations. Steaks were awesome, great quality cuts, great preparation with regards to temp & flavors. Our table had the bruschetta, sausage & cheese plate, a couple of ribeyes, a t-bone, and a sirloin... all delicious and perfectly prepared. Now the reasons that this is a 3 star and not a 5 star review (which it could have easily been): We had a 7pm reservation on a Friday night, this restaurant has a huge very nice dining room downstairs that you can tell is meant for larger parties or sharing large tables. The place was half full with a lot of the crowd leaving at this time (people in this part of the US tend to eat dinner earlier as with a lot of rural areas). We were seated upstairs in the rafters in a booth that was kind of shoved in the corner, out of place, with awful lighting. That was the first issue that really made this experience a "miss" for us. We could have easily been seated downstairs at this point in time. The second "miss" was the service from our waitress. This young lady started out having the personality of a sheet of plywood! Took drink orders, and asked if we wanted to order anything else before "she had to go downstairs and back up again" Somewhat complaining about the section of the establishment that she was working in for the evening. That pretty much set the tone for the meal for us. Midway through the dinner service she opened up a bit more and indicated to our party of 4 that she was having a bad day, which I can somewhat understand... but at a $100 a head steakhouse where she would be expecting a $80 tip +/- from the table, bottle that nonsense up and play the game! If whatever is going on in your life that night is too much to handle (we've all been there) call out or go home sick! Smile, be personable, be friendly... seriously! Maybe not in this particular part of the US, but in general competition in the $100+ per person prime steakhouse environment is a bit fierce. Everything has to be on point. Environment, meal, and service. This experience didn't "meat" that requirement for us based on the 2 issues that I mentioned earlier in this review. I know I can go to Morton's, Del Frisco's, or Ruth's Chris and 99.9% of the time everything is going to be perfect and at a similar price point.
