Despite repeatedly requesting a phone call, no one ever contacted us. Instead, all communication was handled through text messages. We were eventually informed that a waiver would be required, something that was never discussed during the consultation. At that point, we requested a full refund of our deposit. In all my years, I have never experienced such poor communication and customer service from a company. **1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Experience**…read more We signed a contract with Ram Jack on August 4 for foundation work on our home, with the work scheduled to begin August 17. After researching the process, we learned that an Iredell County building permit was required before the work could legally begin. Before the scheduled work date, my husband contacted our Ram Jack salesperson by email, text, and phone and specifically asked that the work be put on hold until we had a copy of the **issued permit**. We were assured that the permit would be in place before the crew arrived. The crew was sent to our home anyway. When they arrived, they showed us a screenshot with a permit number, but when we checked, the permit had **not yet been issued**. We understandably would not allow the work to begin without the required permit. The crew became upset that we would not let them proceed and eventually left. Two days later, the permit was issued. We then tried to reschedule. Instead of working with us to find a reasonable new date, we were initially pushed all the way to the end of September. Communication with our salesperson became extremely frustrating. We were repeatedly told that he would call us back within 30 minutes or the next day, but we often received no response unless we called again or contacted the Ram Jack office. The situation became even more concerning when we were finally offered a possible date in mid-September--but only if we paid **50% of the project cost upfront** because Ram Jack supposedly no longer "trusted" us. This was incredibly insulting and confusing. We have never refused to honor our contract or indicated that we would not pay for properly completed work. We were simply unwilling to allow foundation work to begin **without the required permit being issued**. In other words, we followed the law and protected our own property, yet we are now being treated as though we are an untrustworthy customer. We asked to speak with the owner, Mark Beckham, about the situation and were told that he did not want to speak with us. We subsequently contacted corporate directly to try to get this resolved, and **we have still not received a response from Mr. Beckham.** We chose Ram Jack because of its reputation and expected a professional company to handle such an important structural project with professionalism, communication, and integrity. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. The most disappointing part is that this entire situation could have been avoided if the required permit had simply been obtained **before sending a crew to our home**, as we specifically requested. We are still willing to have the contracted work completed. We simply expect Ram Jack to take responsibility for its part in what happened and treat us fairly. Based on our experience so far, I would strongly encourage anyone considering Ram Jack to ask detailed questions about **permitting, scheduling, payment requirements, and what happens if the company is unable to perform the work on the scheduled date.**
