Steve, the owner,…read morehas always been helpful with diagnosis/repair of laptops I've brought him in the past, but more recently, he really hit a home run. My used laptop computer, which I'd bought from a private seller some three years ago, had never been a powerhouse, but it was fine for my modest needs. In the past few months, it became slower and slower, and, just as income tax time was looming, it stopped booting up. Not good. (Of course, I had already loaded tax return software on it, and started my tax return.) I dropped it off at his shop, which is neat and organized, on a Friday, and early next week had a diagnosis: the hard drive had failed. I was expecting to have to shop around for another used laptop (which I seem to do every 2 to 3 years), but Steve said it was light work to replace the hard drive. He also recommended increasing the memory from 4GB to 8GB. The price was surprisingly reasonable, so I authorized the work. Even though he had to order the additional memory, the computer was ready for pickup just a few days later, so the turnaround time was surprisingly quick. Steve stands behind his work. There was a very minor issue, which he fixed in five minutes. My laptop not only works well, it boots up much faster than before, and programs load very quickly (partly due to new hard drive technology, and partly due to increased memory). It was money well spent, and will allow me to get more use out of this computer. Parking is limited to on-street, which makes me nervous since the street is hilly and curvy there, but it is what it is. Hours are limited, and since it is a one-man business, and he does service calls at homes and businesses, he is not always in the shop during stated business hours. Also, the shop is not open on Saturdays. Although it is sometimes difficult to get access to Steve, it is nevertheless worth the effort because of the quality of work coupled with very reasonable prices.

They performed a diagnostic and soldered on a new USB-C charging port. No data loss, no hassles, no problem. Have read "some" of the reviews here but from experience here ... if you go in with realistic expectations, communicate exactly what the problems are - this is the team. They've been here for 25-plus years! You're asked to pay a small fee up-front to help cover the diagnostic, and they'll give you an honest assessment and ask how you want to move forward. I'm not sure anyone can reasonably ask for more. Great job - this was my 4th (or so) repair and you'll always get a straight answer.

I had a horrible experience here. I brought them a memory card from my Sony camera. It contains…read moreover 2000 photographs from five countries including war zones with machine guns, etc. It was very important data to me. I could not see the files on the card so I brought it to them and before I brought it to them, I read online that no data recovery company should work on the card itself, But they should image the card and work on the image of the data. That way they cannot possibly screw up the original data. There's also a place to click an SD card with a little lever on the card so that it cannot be over written. Which I did. When I brought them the card, they charge me a diagnostic fee. I told him how important the data was to me, and that they should not work directly on the card. They told me that they understood and would not do so. About a week later they called me and told me they could not recover data and gave me information on another data recovery place With a special code I guess for a kickback. Instead, I took it to another data recovery expert. And they assured me that there was nothing wrong with the card and that they could have recovered any files from it, but they could see that the previous company had over written the card and reformatted the card during the period when they had it. Basically, computer, genius wiped off the contents of my card, even though they had told me that they would not work directly on the card. This is a devastating loss for me personally And represents months of lost work in thousands of dollars of lost images. So I called the owner to tell him what happened so that he could improve his business and maybe not cause thousands of dollars of damage to other peoples data. All they need to do is not work directly on the card. I thought it was a professional courtesy to call the owner to help him improve his business, and that it would be better than leaving a bad review online. I was told by one of the techs that he was busy so I left my name and phone number for him to call me back. Much to my surprise he called me back minutes later screaming at me on the phone. I said "Why are you yelling at me"? And he replied "because you want to loan me money". I said "no I don't". I called to talk to you about a problem at your store. To which she started yelling again. He was completely unprofessional and hung up on me. he never asked what the problem was nor would he let me tell them. I had been very polite to the tech I had spoken to. And I'm a polite person in general. I just felt that when something so bad is done by a business they should know about it. I asked to speak to the owner, because the mistake that was made is a mistake of processing policy at the store. It's the owners responsibility. I don't know if I've ever experienced as dysfunctional a business or as rude a business owner.. But I estimate the loss in my data to be worth about $10,000. I did not want to post a bad review on Google, so I called him directly so I could explain to him the problem so that he could improve his process to avoid doing this in the future. But it looks like they will continue to do this. There is just no excuse for treating customers this way.

I have spent 2 months trying to rebuild this computer to what is was before I went there. Their prices were lower than other places. They were efficient, knowlegable, affordable and pleasant to work with and I would recommend them 100%. The counter help made no serious effort to help with this quick inquiry, but claimed that my machine would have to be sent in to their repair center, not to be seen again for 4-6 weeks. Always assuming, of course, that parts were available. I went next door to PC Tech. The friendly person at the counter took me right away, and quickly verified that the USB 3.0 charge worked. Problem solved in 10 minutes as opposed to 6 weeks.

I built it myself 7 years ago, so I usually handle maintenance myself, but I couldn't get it to turn on at home, and I didnt want to make things worse, so I found Joe's online and gave a call. Turns out my computer was fine. The first time Zack plugged it in at Joe's, it booted up no issue. Despite the relative ease of the fix, Zack was very cordial when I called, and at the store he was naming parts in my custom rig before I even pointed them out. He even offered to hit my PC with the air compressor at no charge (well, at the expense of the clean countertops,; I'm embarrassed to admit I had not dusted my PC in years). I love a local business that knows their stuff. I'll be coming back in the future if I have any other issues beyond me.
