Wow. This place was phenomenal. Our Airbnb host recommended this Cuban/Latin American restaurant in…read moreHomestead, FL and it was downright amazing! We got a sampler platter that included some croquetas, plantain chips, tamal, fried pork chunks, and fried shrimp. Zero complaints about anything! So so good. My main was the Sopa de Res, which was a hearty soup. The serving size was gigantic. I actually took most of it back with me and it made two more meals. There were lots of root vegetables, slow cooked beef still on the bone, a side of rice and corn. My dad got a huge Cuban sandwich that he also ate on for days and my mom had empanadas, which I finished off for a third meal. We also went back for pie. That was ok - it was extremely rich and kind of pricy at $13 a slice. I also tried their Cortadito and took it to go. Great coffee as well. Highly, highly recommend eating here. The decor is fun and the wait staff super nice and patient with all our questions. They also have a separate ice cream shop across the parking lot.

My husband ordered a Cuban sandwich with French fries cooked to perfection in clean oil, and I had grilled chicken (pechuga à la Blanche) with beans, rice, and sweet plantain, along with cilantro sauce. The portion sizes are very generous and we each had leftovers for another whole meal. We will definitely be back! I also appreciated that the suggested tip amount started at 15%. We left more, but too many restaurants have the suggested tip amounts much too high. Do look at the menu item pricing, as some dishes were $75+. It may have been due to portion size as well as ingredients.

Diaz has been around down south forever. They use to have multiple locations throughout Homestead…read more I never really come here except for last minute things like coffee, fresh made tortillas, or fresh made Cuban bread. But they do sell cooked prepared food here with daily lunch specials available. I've had the chicken soup from here and it really has that homemade grandma just made it feeling. So I'm sure the rest of their dishes are made with love. This is strictly a supermarket so you wont find things like Tylenol here or any other over the counter medications (I found that out this morning..lol). You'll find mostly the regular items other popular supermarkets sell but then you'll get some multi cultural items to which always adds more flavor to any dish. So Diaz is a great place to stop and shop, pick up some good cafe con lech, food items, and even homemade prepared food for days and nights you don't feel like cooking!

Our egg with cheese and bacon sammies were large and in charge! I don't know that I would ever have the chance or reason to come back here (I don't live in FL), but this place was perfection for a quick caffeine hit and food recharge, plus we were in and out fairly quickly.

Casavana was a really good introduction to Cuban food for me…read more Somewhere along my travels from Las Vegas to the Miami area, I got really sick. I was hoping to track down some chicken vegetable soup and my Airbnb host recommended this restaurant. Apparently, my daughter, who has been staying in Florida for the past two months, has eaten here at Casavana. We started with the Yucca fritas, they reminded me of and tasted similar to mozzarella sticks. I really liked the texture of these, they had a nice crunch and the dipping sauce was flavorful. For our main dishes, I had the chicken noodle soup while my daughter ordered the Churrasco platter. Both were delicious, the soup was hearty and flavorful with nice big chunks of chicken and noodles. The Churrasco was a strip of tender, juicy red meat with black beans, rice, plantains and a side of chimichurri sauce. If I'm ever back in the area, I would absolutely stop in and enjoy another meal.

The worst steak sandwich not only was it tasteless it was literally the thinnest steak with thrown tomato and a dry bed no sauces no seasoning. Expensive empty sandwich. Lesson learned I must continue staying away it suck's because homestead doesn't have many dining options.
