We stumbled on this place based on great reviews online on our drive from the keys, back up up north and we were so glad we did. Absolutely delicious! Great service too.

Cuban pork chunks (masitas). The presentation was impressive. It was like finding a gem in south Miami.

Bottom Line: Great hole in the wall Cuban restaurant. Appetizers, soups, mains, desserts were amazing and well priced. The place apparently used to be a Puerto Rican restaurant but it changed hands, underwent new management, and redid the entire menu to Cuban food. Pros: yuca fries were crisp and had amazing sauce to accompany it, Calamari was crispy with great sauce, Congrí was tasty... with the perfect amount of moisture and not too dry, beef soup (soup of the day) was beefy and had great latin flavor, Cuban pork chunks (masitas) we're large/crispy/juicy/perfectly salted, flan had great texture and flavor (and I'm not a flan guy but I liked it). Cons: None that I can think of, it's a little far south from Miami downtown, but it's a great stopover if you're going to the keys or going to Black Point Marina for a day of fishing.

This restaurant had some of the best Cuban food we've ever had and we're Cuban!! Not only is the presentation top notch, but the quality of the food and the flavor of the dishes were so delicious! Everything we tried from the croquetas to the vaca frita (beef) with congri (mixed rice and black beans) and the cerdo (roasted pork) or the masitas (pork chunks) with congri were great selections! The fried calamari and the yuca frita are also great starter or side options! Be sure to save room for their homemade flan dessert and a Cuban coffee. Our compliments to the chef and staff, they were attentive and friendly! Highly recommend this spot, very affordable and delicious Cuban food!

Don't let the location fool you! The food was very tasty and the presentation was impressive! Service with a smile was a great added bonus. We had the tamale, pork chunks, Vaca Frita and even a chicken quesadilla. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. We will definitely be going back!

pollo a la plancha

We went on a Sunday afternoon looking for a quick bite and we found this hidden gem without even knowing since we live nearby. We ordered all kinds of food starting with appetizer a fried calamari that must be amongst the best that I have ever tasted crisp, firm yet not over cooked. Our main dishes were comprised of chicharrón de pollo, ropa vieja(shredded beef), pollo a la plancha and steak sandwich. Everyone finished their plate and cleaned them. The taste of each plate was on point. This is a business comprised of husband and wife and from the time we walked in we were greeted with a smile on their faces actually happy to see us( like if we were friends). This kind of hospitality and attention cannot be faked or recreated it's spontaneous and contagious. Even though the food took some time to come out, you know why once you see it the presentation is from a Zagat restaurant, not sure we're chef studied or took classes but the presentation combined with the taste make this restaurant in my eyes 5 stars. I hope they keep this up and that the portions stay the same too. Kudos to owners for bringing this place so close to home. P.S. today 11/8/2022 I ordered take out, had vaca frita with fries and mash potatoes and grilled chicken with tostones and congri..even on take out presentation and taste prevailed.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Small place, very clean. Not a bougie looking place. The food is amazing. The chef creates such a nice presentation. I had a tamale in oja and I'm pretty sure it's the best I've ever had. I've also had ropa vieja and churrasco here and both were delicious. Don't let the location discourage you. I promise you, you won't regret it.

Chicken churrasco with congris and maduros. Yummy!

We got a sampler platter that included some croquetas, plantain chips, tamal, fried pork chunks, and fried shrimp. Zero complaints about anything! So so good. My main was the Sopa de Res, which was a hearty soup. The serving size was gigantic. I actually took most of it back with me and it made two more meals. There were lots of root vegetables, slow cooked beef still on the bone, a side of rice and corn. My dad got a huge Cuban sandwich that he also ate on for days and my mom had empanadas, which I finished off for a third meal. We also went back for pie. That was ok - it was extremely rich and kind of pricy at $13 a slice. I also tried their Cortadito and took it to go. Great coffee as well. Highly, highly recommend eating here. The decor is fun and the wait staff super nice and patient with all our questions. They also have a separate ice cream shop across the parking lot.

My husband ordered a Cuban sandwich with French fries cooked to perfection in clean oil, and I had grilled chicken (pechuga à la Blanche) with beans, rice, and sweet plantain, along with cilantro sauce. The portion sizes are very generous and we each had leftovers for another whole meal. We will definitely be back! I also appreciated that the suggested tip amount started at 15%. We left more, but too many restaurants have the suggested tip amounts much too high. Do look at the menu item pricing, as some dishes were $75+. It may have been due to portion size as well as ingredients.

After two days of driving through snow storms and heavy rain and spending a night sleeping in the truck at a Cracker Barrel just outside Chattanooga, TN, we finally made it to South Florida. We had just arrived to the area and it was a bit late. We were driving through Homestead, FL. We were hungry looking for something to eat. We saw an open food stand serving Venezuelan food. My wife being Venezuelan, and my favorite food being a Cachapa, we hooked a u-turn and headed back to the food stand. I ordered the Venezuelan hamburger (Burger La Tuyera) and my wife ordered the Barrilla (mixed BBQ). This was the first time I have had a Venezuelan hamburger. It was a huge hamburger (see the pics). It had sausage, an egg, cheese (queso de mano), corn... it was awesome. My wife loved her order. She had been saying she could not wait to get down to Miami to get some delicious arepas. The selection of meats in mixed BBQ tasted great and were cooked perfectly. The arepitas tasted awesome. The food here at this food stand was definitely worth doing a u-turn for. The couple running the food stand were very friendly and welcoming. We will be returning another day to try out their cachapas!!

Good portions and generous portions! The owner is very friendly and always gives good suggestions. It's opened during the evening hours until night so it's always fresh to sit and eat there. I have to return and try their burgers or carne en vara!!! 100 recommended!
