I've been here once, when I first moved to Chattanooga. I really need to go again, but I don't have any kids. LOL. My best friend and her two young children came to visit me, so of course we had to go to the kid's museum. Lots of stuff to see and touch and interact with. You must climb to the top of the staircase to see all of downtown. It was the summertime when I went and it was nice to be indoors and nice and cool while the kids ran around and got tired out. Why 5 stars? Who says you have to be a kid to have fun? We took our kids and they had fun but I think the adults had even more fun. This place was clean, welcoming, decently priced and had great options for the group. They had fun learning, playing and getting creative with all the fun. This is one of the best children's museums that we've been to. We spent half a day here but we could have easily stayed the whole day. We visited with a 1-year-old and 3-year-old and they both really enjoyed the different play areas (climbing structure, water play, dinosaurs, kitchen, storytime and reading area). It was too cold for us to really take advantage of the outside play area with "physics" structures/toys. They also have a pseudo lighthouse where you can climb to the top and look around (but there is not that much to see). We came on a Saturday and it was packed with people and birthday parties. We had such a great time that we even contemplated getting a membership (which gives you 50% off admission to children's museums in the ACM reciprocal network)! They were offering a discount on membership which makes it worthwhile if you visit twice a year. They have coupons for a small discount ($1) on their website. They also have a free family night the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8pm. read more

Visited Chattanooga specifically to visit the museum. Tons of stuff for kids of all ages to do...kids 4 and under have a blocked off area that let's them do their thing w/o having to deal with older kids. We really enjoyed the music area which had an extensive collection of percussion instruments. They even have a little stage where the kids can put on their own mini show and play with the lighting and sound effects. Admission is free for kids 2 and under. Adults was a little over $10. Wow oh wow! After a horrible lunch experience elsewhere, I wanted to bring so joy to my kids after the long drive up. I'm so glad that we came here. Parking is nearby and was only $6 for the few hours. It was really reasonable. The museum is very reasonable is price at just $14 per person and per child. I can't list everything they have because there is just so much. The first room has this huge climbing thing with slides and a rope thing. On the ground is this huge water table with water sprayers and boats and buckets and fun stuff. The next room had ramps for balls and this cool backlight room and strobe room with flying birds. You have your Music rooms with amazing instruments to play on. You have art rooms with stamping,painting, coloring, wax molds, cool stuff. There is a room to make stuff out of other recycled stuff. There is a dinosaur room where kids take off their shoes and act as archeologists digging up bones in sand. They have gross bugs to look at too. There is a doctors station. Upstairs they have a Thomas exhibit until mid September with a huge Trajan table and other train things. You can climb a spiral staircase that leads outside and you overlook downtown. There was just so much! The gift shop had a ton of stuff and it was all reasonably priced. We will be back for sure! read more

We decided to take the children here for the second time. The last time the traveling exhibit was a medieval theme. This time it was a Dino train theme. I like the medieval theme better (I'm partial to that time period though) but my daughters just adore this museum and it is absolutely worth going to. We spent almost all day there and they definitely wore themselves out. We did not eat there but they do have a nice looking menu with many options. They also have science shows that they put in throughout the day which are super cool. read more

We have visited a number of children's museums with our kids. This place is really a top pick. With a 4 year old and 2.5 year old we are always looking for quality things to do that will not only engage them, but get some of their energy out. This place checks all the boxes. Plenty of space and unique exhibits for nearly every interest. Physical play, crafting and so much more. They are currently adding even more exhibits right now. We will be back every time we are in the Chattanooga area. read more

What a gem. We were so very fortunate to receive a "Grandparents Plus" membership for Christmas. Our grandkids love this place. So much to do both inside and out. The staff is outstanding and they always have something special going on (live kung-fu demo this last weekend) Lots and lots of hands on crags and experiments so plan some time here. Our grandkids are 1 to 8 years old and all five love this place. Lots of water options so extra dry shirts may be a good idea. Movie theater and indoor rock climbing directly across the street and Minor League baseball one block away. Aquarium two blocks away. Talk about a perfect setup for a mini vacation It would be a lot more fun for grandpa if they had a wine and cheese bar...... I know, I know.... read more

I feel like words can not even describe how amazing our day trip was here. My 16 month old had the best time ever! The list could go on...so I'll just name a few When you walk in and they have the water hands on fun! My son wanted to just jump in! He loved it. He started to climb up into the play jungle gym area! So cool! All the arts and crafts! Stamping, painting, clay/puddy, coloring! The music area was absolutely the coolest! My son got to play with instruments that I played with when I was a child that I haven't seen in years. The Dino area! Lots of sand!! My son ate it...like hands fun! HAHA The bees, slide, even the yummy food court! The reading room! Ugh I feel like the list could go on!! MUST TAKE CHILDREN!!! MAKES THEM SLEEPY FOR 2 DAYS!!! haha read more

I thought long and hard about whether to give this 4 or 5 stars. The down sides were that the first area where you come in was unbelievably hot, I think due to the glass windows; and also I thought some of the areas needed a little updating or cleaning. But the positives were numerous--- favorites included the interactive simple/compound machines on the roof, the "make it" and art areas, and the sand pit with "dino" bones. Those four spaces alone were such a huge hit with my 5 year old that it didn't seem to matter that we were all sweating buckets. Please pump the a/c in here to counteract the heat. We will definitely be back next time we are in town, though. read more

Highly recommend for families visiting Chattanooga. My kids are 6,4, and 2 and they had a blast.

Came here on my daughter's Fall break, and she had a blast. I was worried it might be below her age level, but it wasn't at all. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. There is so much stimulation here, and can entertain your child for hours on end. Sadly, we only got through not even half before we had to leave. There are water games, and climbing, arts and crafts, music, theater, videos, painting. I was sorry to see I had missed the digging for dinosaur bones and zooming mesages through a pneumatic tube. Sadly, we had just missed their opening of Run! Jump! Fly! which is an adventure action star training center. You can apparently try things like surfing, kung fu, yoga, and climbing. There is such a variety of wonderful activities for children of all ages, and she really enjoyed it all. I wish we had time to make it through the entire place, but we will have to come back. Prices are reasonable, too. It's not too bad a drive, either, so sure I'd be willing to bring her back for this again. read more

Great place if you are a tired parent with a rowdy child! My four year old son LOVED this place! We happened to be there for Pre-K day and the activities were phenomenal. They had hands on learning everywhere, including a music room, art class, physical activity area, lookout tower and a water play area. It's been awhile since we last visited this place. We received a discount on tickets because one of the floors was closed for renovations. That was nice of them to do- something they don't have to. Even though one whole floor was missing my kids still had an amazing time. They limited how many could come in. This was super helpful! All I kept thinking was one floor and how many people?!? But it didn't seem overwhelming at all. Just the right number of people. The staff was very nice and helpful. I have a 6 year age gap in my kids and they both had a great time! Their favorite was creating art and experiments. Something for them all to do- and parents too! read more

This place is amazing! I wish we had one exactly like it where I live. We spent the entire day there with our (almost) 5 year old, from open to close (10am-5pm) with a break in the middle for lunch and a little rest. He was fascinated with so many exhibits, spending an hour plus in a single one. And this is a super high-energy kid! Very well designed for a range of ages, from 2 up to 10, I would guess, is the sweet spot. There's even a spot for the toddler (under-4) set specifically. The water table, with the system of removable walls to create channels, was a big hit, as well as the build a roller coaster activity. I feel he wad a little young for the current temporary exhibit, about chess. They have special presentations throughout the day and a cafeteria as well as many, clean and kid-friendly bathrooms in each section/level. We didn't get to go to the top of the glass tower on the day we were there because it was closed due to weather, so that was the only disappointment (especially since it wasn't actually raining or storming at the time). read more

Another Yelp thank you for this find! We were driving home from FL and needed to wear our kids out before a long drive stretch. The entrance price for four was approximately 22.00$, reasonable considering we spent two hours there and didn't get restless or bored. A great feature is the climbing play structure right upon entry. We loved this structure at the start of the museum for two reasons: 1. It's not when you exit. So, the having to pry your kids out of a slide to drag them to the car isn't necessary. Well thought out! 2. They get to go wild first and can stay more focused on the exhibits, even while playing with them, thus they retained more of the information! As adults in these Children's Museums, sometimes you are milling about or picking up fake food from some play grocery store. Not the case with this one. There were some hands on exhibits that were fun and challenging for us to participate in, too. i.e., the small electric car built table and race track. Worth the money and the time. My girlfriend took me on a date here. I mean, I paid, but it was her idea. We had to wear these special visitor badges and hand over our licenses so the museum could feel assured that we weren't kiddy-snatchers. A large number of the exhibits are too young for even me to enjoy, but as you work your way through, the content gets a bit more mature. There are some cool music-related exhibits, things about light, sound, etc. The special exhibit while we were there was on body functions and smells. So there were exhibits with the chemical compounds that make farts, burps, feet and other smelly stuff stink. It was interesting to say the least. read more

Awesome place for kids of all ages (up to 12 or so). Huge facility with a ton of diverse stuff for kids to do. We spent nearly 4 hours here with our 8 and 4 year olds and they just loved the place. They are Children's Museum "connoisseurs" and have visited many around the country. I think they might rank this as the best of the best. Very reasonable cost (and affiliated with other Childrens' Museums around the country... so if your a member of your local CMA, you get in free if you have a reciprocal membership plan). The food/concession area is fine and cheap...nothing to special but enough stuff for everyone to get a bite to eat. Very safe, very diverse, well maintained. I can't imagine a kid not having a great time here ... and most adults will too. read more

Definitely worth the drive from Atlanta! Super fun, big place for the kids and sophisticated and interesting enough for parents! We spent 5 hours there and our girls STILL didn't want to leave. There are a lot of places for parents to sit throughout the different exhibitions. Much, much better than the Atlanta children's museum and free if you have membership to the Atlanta one. Make sure to go to the Kitchen and Science demo! That was amazing and my girls took home a scone made by them! read more

My children (ranging 8-11) were a LITTLE too old for it, but if I lived anywhere near when they were young, I would definitely be a member! My kids still spent over an hour here without being bored. This children's museum is in desperate need of updating and taking the creativity up a lot of notches. It most definitely isn't worth the price. I'm from St Louis and maybe I'm comparing it to the Magic House, but even without comparison this museum isn't worth the price. This place is so fun!! Took my 10 yr old niece on our visit to Chattanooga and she had a great time. It's very interactive with stations in all areas like art, music, mechanics, and dinosaurs. I loved that they had costumes to dress up in all over the place. It was geared towards younger kids for the most part but she still had a great time. Birthday party with 200 kids and no adult supervision or this is what it seemed like. Although parents were directly with most kids, I saw absolutely no staff anywhere except the ticket counter and snack bar. Parts were missing to several exhibits, many things were in need of repair, vague (if any) instructions, messy! However, the kids had a great time, when they could actually get to an exhibit. The snack bar was very reasonably priced. We travel a good bit and have visited several kids themed museums/centers so I guess I was expecting more organization and not so much disarray. Sciquest located in huntsville, AL, is only an hour and a half away and probably one of the best we have ever been to visit. If you do go, I would not recommend going on Saturday. read more

Very cool museum. We have reciprocal membership so we visit the children's museums every time we travel. This is definitely top 5. We drive from Atlanta on a fairly regular basis because it is that awesome! Story time, crafts, various sessions throghout the day. Regular exhibits change periodically as well. Engaging staff. Two levels with an outdoor rooftop exhibit and an observation tower. Nice cafe with some healthy options. We've been lucky to get free street parking on the weekends, so that's a bonus. We recommend everyone check this museum out! read more

My BF gave me the Grandparent plus membership for Christmas. We took a couple of the grandkids to try it out and its a lot of fun. We went on a Saturday and it was very crowded.
