I left my home for three months for a pilgrimage. Spring months. Things grow in the Spring. And oh…read morewow, did they. Too much for this elder to catch up with. I realized I needed help after several hours in the hot sun. After getting bids from three other gardening providers on Yelp, I ended up choosing Joseph. And am I glad I did! He came out and after walking through my overgrown pollinator garden, he gave me a quote which was pretty much consistent with the others. Big difference? He communicates well, he is ethical, he shows up on time, works hard, cleans up afterward. He is also a nice man who cares about the quality of what he does. Joseph is knowledgeable about many plants and trees. To his credit, when he encountered one he wasn't familiar with, he set about educating himself so he would do things right. He pruned my Mock Orange, Oregon Grapes, my Japanese Maple, a wildly out of control espaliered Apple tree, thinned out some fading seasonals, and pulled up a dying azalea I'd tried, but failed, to bring back. Then pulled out the overgrown weeds from my curb and sidewalk to make it all look more tidy. I'll be calling Joseph again, absolutely. You should, too. My before photos aren't uploading after three tries. Hmmmm. Trust me though, things were out of control.

He is an extremely kind, helpful and relatable person. Weeds are so hard to deal with, but he was willing to do the job and the gravel pathways look great. He charged less than I expected. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with PNW Permaculture & Garden on a front and backyard…read moredesign that beautifully aligned with our love for permaculture, Pacific native plants, and Japanese garden aesthetics. A year after implementing her thoughtful design, we're thrilled to say her ideas have far exceeded our expectations, and the local birds and bees seem to agree. What we appreciated most was Ali's ability to create a plan that allowed us to implement much of it ourselves. This hands-on approach not only saved us money but also helped us learn about our land and develop our beginner-level permaculture skills. We've achieved a 90% success rate with the plants we've planted, and the 10% that didn't thrive taught us valuable lessons we needed to learn--an incredibly worthwhile investment. Ali's design was also adaptable to our budget and bandwidth, letting us break the project into manageable steps. Next year, we're excited to start our chicken coop and continue bringing this vision to life. Every day, we fall more in love with our garden--it's a peaceful, thriving space that has enriched our lives in ways we never imagined. Ali's expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to sustainable design are unmatched. On top of all this, her pricing was incredibly reasonable for the lasting impact her work has had. If you're looking for a designer who blends artistry with eco-conscious principles and empowers you to grow alongside your land, Ali is the one to call. We couldn't recommend her more highly!

Hanne was knowledgeable, creative, friendly, and patient. She was collaborative throughout the planning process and helped the board members of our condo articulate what we were hoping for as we were treading into a territory we had know prior knowledge of. Hanne was able to calibrate her plan based on our budget, our capacity to collectively maintain the yard, and the aesthetic we were hoping for. She kept in mind how prices for plants and materials would change, and worked quickly to save us from paying more than we had to. On the work day, she was willing to guide 6 landscaping newbies through updating our yard. Even though it was raining, she made the entire landscaping day enjoyable. Since then, Hanne has been more than willing to provide us direction on how best to maintain our new yard and even provided us useful recommendations for building a fence to accompany our yard update. I had initially become aware of Hanne because of one my sisters had an amazing experience with her previously, and after the similarly great time we had with her, my other sister hired Hanne for her yard! Needless to say, all three of us siblings could not be happier with the work she has done. All three of us would hire her again in a second. If you're looking for high-quality, high-value work, look no further.

I hired Green Zone to dig a ~45' trench to a shed in my backyard at 2' deep for electrical conduit. He initially bid the job at one day and $810. I made the mistake of assuming he had a trencher and other equipment for this task. He showed up on day 1 with a gas auger for post holes, not a trencher. After a couple hours on day 1, he said the cost would actually be $1500 , nearly double the original cost because of some unexpected difficulty with rocks and other debris. He spent a ton of time trying to get the auger to start/restart throughout the day. Of course he wasn't able to finish that day, and said he'd come back with electric tools more appropriate for the job. On the second day, he came back with the same gas auger, though it seemed to be in somewhat better running order. About halfway through that day, he said he wouldn't be able to dig a straight trench because of debris. He eventually got someone to bring an electric saw he used to remove this debris, to his credit. At the end of the second day, he said he was going to come back with a mini excavator to finish the job. On the third day, he did come back with one, but it was extremely large for the space and resulted in a completely destroyed yard surface, a damaged structure in the yard, and concerns about the shed foundation.

From the beginning, Alex (the owner) impressed us with his thoughtful planning, clear communication, and confident approach to a destroyed yard: a post-construction disaster zone wherein our entire quarter-acre plot of land was turned into a pit of uneven, impacted mud. Our project involved building a retaining wall, grading, improving drainage, and hauling away a large dump truck of poor quality fill dirt. It was a tough job, but they handled it with incredible professionalism and skill from start to finish. Not only did they tackle the hard work with skill and efficiency, but they also went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right--down to the last detail, suggesting water timers and tripod sprinklers that worked well. Their team was professional, and respectful. The dumpster company he hired accidentally knocked over my mailbox. I texted him about it the evening I noticed it; it was replaced by the next morning. Also, Alex genuinely seemed to care about the outcome, calling and later stopping by after a week to check the progress. The end result was even better than we imagined. What was once a sad and frustrating yard is now beautiful, usable, and a joy to spend time in again. We're incredibly grateful for their hard work and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for quality landscaping--especially for projects that are a challenge or too difficult for others. We plan to hire Wild Oasis to come back to help us naturescape our property ASAP. Thank you again for an amazing job!
