I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Creative Nails & Spa in Shrewsbury. This was my first visit to the salon. Before making my appointment, I called because I wanted to make sure they could do a very specific design. I explained that I wanted a teal manicure with white dots, and the woman at the front desk assured me they absolutely could do it. Based on that assurance, I scheduled my appointment. When I arrived, I explained the design again. I chose the teal polish specifically because it was supposed to have white dots. After my nails had already been painted, I was told that the technician could not do the white dots after all. Had I been given accurate information when I called or before my nails were painted, I would have chosen a completely different color. What disappointed me even more was that no effort was made to correct the situation. No one offered to have another technician do the design, repaint my nails in a different color, or provide any type of accommodation for a mistake that was not mine. I left with a color I never would have selected had I been told from the beginning that the design could not be done. I was also disappointed with the quality of the manicure itself. As the attached photos show, the skin around my nails was left dry, peeling, and rough. My cuticles were not properly cared for, and no cuticle oil or moisturizer was applied before I left. The polish application also has noticeable gaps around several cuticles, giving the manicure an unfinished appearance immediately after the service. I am attaching photos because they accurately show the condition of my nails when I left the salon. I understand that not every technician can perform every nail design. My disappointment is that I specifically called in advance to confirm the salon could do the design before booking my appointment, was assured that they could, and then found out only after my nails had already been painted that they could not. As a first-time customer, I expected better communication, better workmanship, and better customer service. Instead, I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and unlikely to return. read more

I left this salon a 5-star review a year ago, and after my most recent visit, I can confidently say they continue to earn it. Life has been incredibly demanding over the past year, and somewhere along the way I stopped making time for my own self-care. Like many caregivers, I put my focus elsewhere and neglected some of my own wellness needs. My feet, in particular, have become a challenge. They are easily the most sensitive part of my body, and years of wear and tear have left me dealing with chronic discomfort, inflamed tendons, and some very tender areas. I arrived for my appointment hoping for some relief but honestly not expecting much beyond a standard service. What I experienced was so much more. The staff took the time to listen, communicate, and adjust their approach based on what I was feeling. They were attentive, patient, and incredibly thoughtful. At every step, they checked in to make sure I was comfortable and that the service was meeting my needs. I never felt rushed or dismissed. Their goal was clearly to make sure I walked out feeling better than when I arrived. What touched me most is that they had no idea what has been happening in my personal life. They didn't know the challenges my family has been navigating or how long it had been since I had truly taken care of myself. Had my nails done last week or two weeks ago. I got a full set acrylic I just need to say if the nail tech knows you have short length nails gluing the back end of your nails is not okay. I got a horrible infection from this and my finger is cracked and in pain. I do not recommend this place after this tools are dirty. Went in with friend around 4:45 pm for two regular manicures. Staff was very rude and told us they were full for the rest of the day. Listen- when I tell you I have been to SO many nail salons in the area looking for my spot, I MEAN IT. Creative Nails in Shrewsbury (and I have been to the Worcester one 2x as well, similar experience) is consistently exceeding my expectations. I have been here now at least 10x, and I've met with nearly every nail technician. Each one has been exceptionally thorough and gone above and beyond to meet or exceed my expectations. The prices are in line with what I would expect for an above average experience. I'll also note that it's exceptionally clean, smells pleasant (no chemical odor), and the receptionist who checked appointments is cordial, kind, and considerate. I have been coming to Creative nails for about a year now. I drive almost an hour to get there and it is 100% worth it every time it is so relaxing and clean. They have so many colors to choose from and always do an amazing job my nails last for weeks and weeks. Tony is my go to. He is incredible and always caters to my style request which often includes different designs and colors I just show him a picture and he does his thing and it comes out perfect every time. I've been going here for years without issue. Lately the service and quality has declined, and it seems prices have increased substantially. I'm getting charged $90+ for a dip manicure and regular pedicure. That seems outrageous for Central MA. My last visit the polish left bubbles on my nails. I think the polish was old, thick and looks like they just add thinner to it instead of replacing it. Some of the techs are friendly, others can't be bothered. Not sure I'll be back to this location. This was my second time here. My girlfriend has been coming here for a long time (same people moved to a new location). Both times I left feeling more than satisfied. Today I was so impressed with the attentiveness and accuracy of what I wanted. $37 for a gel manicure that lasts one week very disappointed I'm pretty sure they overcharged me

I was such a loyal customer of creative nails and I went every 4 weeks on the dot getting dip powder with some tips. They did a great job usually and the nails never broke or chipped. UNTIL I got an infection from them not cleaning their equipment. I noticed it at first when I was getting my nails done and the tech took off the old polish, but she brushed it off and said it was just a bruise. Within a few days, the infection spread to multiple fingers and covered the entire nail, instead of just once part. When I looked it up, the results overwhelmingly said that it was from poor cleaning practices at salons. I'm disappointed because they usually did a great job (which made it worth the price), but knowing that they gave me an infection on my nails and tried to dismiss me, you won't find me going back. Only go if you're okay with risking great nails for an infection and poor cleaning of equipment. read more

I am usually not one to write reviews. They had a good selection of colors to choose from, and I felt very relaxed once I stepped through the door. The lady who did my manicure was extremely pushy, kept telling me to relax and watch the tv and not her, and was aggressive with my hands. She had asked if I wanted square or rounded nails. I had asked for square. She said, "no, your nails are too short." I said, "oh I usually get squared edges" and she said, "no, too short." I then said, "okay then do what you think looks best" because I am not one to argue. This has never happened anywhere else. When getting them done, she blamed me for "bumpy nails" when pulling my fingers out of the dip powder and said, "see this is what happens when you don't relax." I had explained to her that I had broken my arm in the past and my arm/hand still hurts to this day. She didn't acknowledge what I had said and carried on. Everywhere else I have gone this has never happened once. There was dip powder stuck on my finger tips after the manicure was done and her reasoning was that my hands were dry. I did not make a fuss and said, "it's okay it will come off eventually." She then told me to go to the sink and scrub it off myself. During the manicure, she stated four times, "you come back in three weeks and ask for me." It was $91 for a manicure and pedicure, which is typically more than I spend at a nail salon. While getting the design done she constantly told me to stop talking, the design was sloppy and not what I wanted. I told them this and they refused to fix it. This is the best place by far to get a pedicure. They have a few different locations around the worcester/marlboro area but I prefer this one the best. They are a little bit more pricey compared to other places but you are probably paying for the "spa" portion of "Creative Nails and Spa" LOL. I think when it comes to mani/pedis though you really get what you pay for! I always go to On On here. I usually have to call and make an appt because they get very busy and the waits can be up to 40 -45 minutes! She does an amazing job and never pushes other services on me. She does a great job on my heels and her hand drawn nail designs always WOW everyone. She does this amazing thing where after she is done massaging your legs but before she paints your toes - she rubs your legs with hot towels - AMAZINGGGGG - you will feel like you have left for cloud 9:) I have been here many other times for manicures and eye brow waxing. I have also taken my nieces in for mani/pedis. I have never had a bad experience. read more

Customer beware...new policy (not posted and not verbally communicated)...charging a $25 deposit when you schedule an appointment in case you happen to forget your appointment they can make out with the deposit. I have been going there for many years and had never missed an appointment until yesterday. This is when they told me I will now be required to put down a $25 deposit when I schedule again. To be clear, the pedi spa Nikki gave me was VERY GOOD from beginning to end. She helped me adjust the massage chair so that it fit my choices and was careful about the water being the right temp. The tools were taken from a 'freshly sanitized' packet. All folks were masked. It was GREAT. What was NOT great was the client who came in for a pedi about half way through my appointment and began to berate 'Sprint' about a problem with her service.... For ALL the salon to overhear. Her pedi finished and she left the room. ( To my RELIEF... I had begun to hum so I wouldn't have to listen to conversation!) When I went out to the nail dryer, this same client was STILL on the phone with SPRINT complaining about her issue. Again, the entire salon could hear her. I could see that mgt. had tried to move clients AWAY from her, but they were 'stuck'. This client was getting a full gel mani along with a pedi. While I can understand mgt. not wanting to tick off a client, CELL PHONE CALLS should NOT be allowed! It disturbs the ENTIRE salon. I would have emailed the salon, however they do not provide email contact. Sorry folks. I've used you for years...and really like your service...But should this happen again, I'm done. Rushed service, always seem to be too busy to pay extra attention or truly give a crap about what they are doing. Lazy employees abound and the diligent ones are drowning in the pitfalls of the incompetent ones. Openly eating or grooming themselves (nasty), letting large wads of lottery tickets spill out of their back pockets, rudely ushering you aside to let in their heavy tipping regulars (the disillusion ones of course), and the most fake small talk to entice more tips.. like raised eyebrows and left in bewilderment convo... sheesh. Not that this is typical of a nail salon, but when I left a VERY sentimental value hoodie there ( because i was sorta being rushed out of the manicurist chair during a rush) and I had called back later to retrieve it, they said yes they had it. I said I wouldn't have time to get it until a week later and i was assured by the girl on the phone it would be kept safe. I returned about a week later to find that my phone call had apparently "never happened" and that no sweater was ever recovered. I was pretty crushed and upset by that but I didn't even let it get in the way of my patronage... later..months later to find a male employee wearing the hoodie outside ripping butts!! I was so disgusted on so many levels i didn't even walk in. That was over 3 years ago and its taken me this long to calm down enough to write this. Just plain unprofessional. These guys make too much $$ and take advantage of the customer in my honest opinion. If all you want is a regular manicure they look at you like you have 5 heads because you don't want to spend more money on an overpriced and poorly executed gel mani or a gel nail fill. So just beware that the nail polishes are ALL WATERED DOWN with acetone so they Chip after 1-2 days ...sometimes before you even make it home! I had to call out this Nail salon behemoth of Central mass ( all the other locations suck too btw) because they just ARE NOT people persons... which is sort of a requirement in the health/beauty industry. I recently went here with my friend to get pedis and a full set. The girl who did my pedi was younger, she made good convo at first and even made us laugh. My friend started talking out loud about an experience she witnessed here and the girl who was doing my pedi chimed in and started bashing this customer who had made a scene. It's pretty unprofessional to bash customers not just in front of us but all the other customers around us could hear it too. Also, when it came to her putting the color I picked out on my toes she put it on and asked if I liked the color. I usually never do this but I said "no actually, I think I'm going to go with something else" she responded with "REALLY?!" Uhm yes really! Isn't that why you only painted one nail? To see if I liked it? Why would you even ask then? All in all, I think se got a little too comfortable with us... After that it was time for my full set. Bc I wasn't a regular I got stuck with the guy who had no idea how to do almond shaped nails. Sweet. He managed to do just ok and I was done pretty fast. Wayyy faster than my friend who got the same thing done. As I was waiting for my friend the guy who did my nails had another lady already in his chair. He was done with her fast as well and when he was finished he started giving her a hand massage. Where was mine?! I didn't get one of those... And I even gave him a $10 tip. I am not a stickler for the perfect eyebrow waxing. I appreciate the lower prices, quick service and the fact its in close proximity to my work. Pedicures are OK too. Not the best. I solely still go to this place out of convenience. My other thought is, I second Patrica N's review, dated 7/11/12. I too was disappointed by the service and quality of work for manicures. I had my first gel manicure here, and my cuticles were poorly done and the gel polish was not well applied. Seemed like she rushed right through it. After only 4+/- days, the edges of the polish are curling and the cuticles are ragged. Remember: Tips cannot be applied to the credit card. read more

Please know that the first few times I went I would only give them 2 stars. You have to find the right person in here. The bad: I went here for a gel manicure and it only lasted for 4 days before chipping. I've had gel manicures from other salons that last nearly 4 weeks. I went back and they reapplied the gel for free. However the lady had a really bad attitude with me because I requested a different nail tech this time. First pedicure here only lasted 6 days, again I've had pedicures last much longer. The reason I continued to return here is because of the convenient location. I usually get a pedicure every 3-4 weeks. I am a person who experiences bad hangnails around my toes therefore I always get a pedicure. One Sunday I really needed a pedicure so I went back here and it was a pleasure! I found LeLe. The good: LeLe, she is amazing! She is the only reason I return here now. She only works on the weekends and those are the only days I go. She really takes her time with me and I love her pedicures. She is really gently and removes all hangnails and dead skin. This is the worst nail salon I've ever stepped foot in! I payed for a gel full set and days later I realized it was acrylic. Within 3 days two of them fell off so I decided to go back and confront them. They tried telling me they used "gel powder" when it was clearly acrylic. I know that's not even a thing, it's either gel or acrylic. She decided to fix my nails that fell off and she was so rude! She started getting mad that I didn't know the color name of the polish I used. They scammed me and the whole time were laughing about it. UPDATE: just came back for a dip manicure. Place was really dirty. There was powder and nail clippings left over from the previous manicure on the table. The manicurist was good, but certainly not the value of what they charge for a manicure. At other salons they would charge the same price for sanitized products and utensils. Smelled terrible of nail products-a sure sign of uncleanliness. 2 stars for a good manicure, -3 for price and for how dirty it was. Overall Creative Nails is very clean and well decorated. I loved that they use new files and buffers for each client. They were a little pricey, but for the cleanliness and comfort I felt it was worth it. Linda (the nail technician I sat with) did a fantastic job! I came in for the dip color powder manicure and loved it. I wanted to do a mauve color with a cold nail and even though they don't have a dip gold color she used gel to get the effect I was looking for. This is my go to place when I need to go somewhere quick, late or on a Sunday! Typically never had a problem until my last visit last week! I've been getting pedicures consistently for about 10 years now. This was my all time worst pedicure! My friend and I decide on a Sunday to run and get a pedicure. We chose Creative Nails in shrewsbury for the simple fact that you get in quickly, it's a decent pedicure and always looks nice. Well, this visit was awful. They sat my friend and I together, great that's what we wanted, then they start at the same exact time. Next for some reason my lady gets up for something and doesn't return for about 5 minutes, meanwhile my friends lady is wearing the skin off one of her legs with the sugar scrub and doing the same spot over and over again. Once my lady came back her lady finally switched legs and my lady did both my legs in less than 3 minutes. Barely any massage, and she didn't pass the middle of my leg. My friend and laughed it off but after they rinsed our legs our feet never touched the water again, no cuticle cream, and I've never seen two women rush in sync more than them. Our pedicures were 29 minutes from start to finish and that's not subtracting the 5 minutes my lady got up to do whatever it was that was so important. I contemplated complaining after we paid. It decided a review would be better! $32 big ones for the quickest pedicure and longest polish change I have ever had! I want to start by saying I don't normally go to nail salons but wanted to treat myself on my birthday. Earlier this week I went with the intention getting a basic pedicure and basic manicure. I was asked to sign in and request what service I wanted, however that computer was broken. When I sat down for pedi the girl handed me a paper with lots of choices for gels/soaps to add to the water and said "which one you pick?" She made it seem like this was part of the pedi. Since there are no prices on the paper or posted anywhere in the store, I assumed it was part of the price of the pedicure. As I looked around at the other customers many of them were getting the same thing. Nope, I learned that all that stuff was add-ons so in the end it left me with more than what I expected to pay. She did a good job and the "extras" were enjoyable. If the prices were posted I probably would have purchased it anyway, but the way she went about it made me feel like I was "tricked" into buying the extras. When questioned she acted like she didn't understand what I was saying. I didn't stay for a manicure because I didn't want to spend even more money there. I like the end result of the pedi but the feeling of being "tricked" makes me think twice about going back there. It's so hard to find someone who does great eyebrow waxing. I found a decent one here, the first place I tried since moving to the area. I made a same-day appointment, even though it didn't seem necessary once I called. When I got there, the place was bustling like I've never seen a salon before. Good sign. Maybe it was a good thing I did make an appointment because I maybe waited five minutes to be taken back. This was no-frills eyebrow job. I wanted some shaping and basically just got the strays cleaned up. The wax was amazing though. Nearly painless, it was really effective and didn't leave me all red. The woman did some plucking afterward but nothing else. Overall, it was fast, affordable service (I think it was about $10) but everything happened so fast, it didn't seem like any time was really taken to consider how to shape them. If I go back, I might be more specific about exactly what I want. Or I'll keep looking for a place that does it better. read more
