We took our dog to Pooch Dog Spa three times to be groomed by Nicole. We liked the salon and…read moreNicole. Two weeks ago we brought him in again, also with photos. The assistant doing intake noted he needed his beard taken down because of knots and I also pointed out he had some matting on the back of his legs and we agreed in those two places the groom would have to go in close. We gave the assistant a photo of our pup at his best, for reference. When we picked up our pup two hours later, we did not recognize him with a shaved body and we were in shock. When we called Nicole to discuss the dissatisfaction, she claimed our pup was matted everywhere and she performed him "a favor." We asked her if she could have phoned us to let us know before she gave him such an extreme cut, she disagreed that it was not necessary. It was disappointing because not only did she render our pup unrecognizable, there was a dismissal of accountability.

This is a family business and Diana, her husband and their daughters are amazing people who truly care for the well being of your pup! I am unclear as to how 1 star could possibly be construed as a "compliment" (now I am "confused") and if you are being serious or being snide, but to be abundantly clear: this review is not a compliment. I'm writing about your shop 6 months later because 1) I do not to write spur of the moment, emotional, poorly thought out reviews and I let some time pass and re-evaluate; and 2) I pass your shop every day so I am reminded of my experience every day. As far as your 6 groomers toiling 6 days a week: consider opening up your hours beyond 8 hours a day to accommodate the needs of the community you serve. It is about a one minute walk from from my home and would not take my dog. I called to make an appointment for my older dog and the person who answered the phone took my information and was pleasant enough and then asked my dog's breed. When I said she was a doodle, she all of a sudden said she had no appointments. I hung up and then called back and asked her why she had appointments and then all of a sudden--when she heard the breed--she did not. She said--lol--"we do not have appointments for many months." I said, "I don't mind waiting." She said, "Well, it wouldn't be fair to our regular customers." I asked "Why?" She said "Because they will want to come in and will not be able to because new customers will have their spot." I said, "So you don't have enough staff?" She said, "No, we have enough staff." I got tired of her whack-a-mole answers and excused myself. I mean, just put a sign on the door that says "Doodles Not Welcome," like it's a diner in pre-Civil Rights Amendment era Birmingham, Alabama. Based on other reviews, the owner is popular and has a following from her prior location. However, she should be reminded that this is a dog grooming business and, like all businesses in Eastdale, it is supposed to serve a previously underserved area. Eastdale was constructed with a mission to deliver services and products to Arlington residents--not to people who decided to follow Rachel from 30 minutes away. Meanwhile my dog is a sweet natured four year old Doodle who I brush every day (she loves to lay on her back and get brushed) and bathe once a week (she's an outdoorsy gal!) Nice conclusion: I found a terrific groomer and we have had a monthly appointment with her for the last 6 months.

(Even though the young man I spoke to last time said how well behaved they are.) So unprofessional!!! I will NEVER go back and will actively discourage my friends from using this business. An employee literally laughed at me when I expressed fear and concern for my puppy who was in the back barking incessantly (which she literally has never done before). She literally laughed while my dog who never barks was screaming, while simultaneously ignoring my request to see her while I was waiting for several minutes and then trying to help the gentleman who walked in after me. Employees made it clear that they don't care about my dog and they verbatim said "get a certified trainer" (when she already has one) to justify their abhorrent, inhumane behavior is what you can expect.
