This program sounded too good to be true, and it kind of was. I was told by the salesperson that the associates would negotiate settlements that would save me money. However, by the time they took their "success fee", my savings were minimal. I wasn't told that my credit would be completely destroyed, that every card that was "settled " would be closed, and that even accounts that were not in the program and that I kept up the payments on would be affected. I paid off some of my smaller cards myself and informed the associates of this, yet offers were still sent to those card companies. One day, I spent over an hour in the phone with an associate, told him the same information five times, and accomplished absolutely nothing. Would I recommend this program? No. There are too many cooks in the kitchen and they are not reading the same recipe read more

Not happy. That's very unclear about the contract even to the point of being Deceiving. Hard to contact and hard to not accept an offer. If you don't accept an offer they will still potentially accept it through their software system. I complained to a manager and expected to receive a call back within 48 hours and it's been over 72 and I haven't heard anything back. read more

I joined Credit Associates on Dec 15, 2022. After losing my job in Jan 2026, I called on Feb 2 to cancel the program. I was told we could paying off 3 accounts in one payment and that the 4th hadn't even been started. Despite that, on Feb 27 I received multiple emails saying they had suddenly accepted an offer on the 4th account, set up a payment plan, and even started the first payment--after my cancellation request. I called again on Mar 2 and Mar 24, and they admitted they saw my Feb 2 cancellation but never processed it. I was also charged over $1,500 in success fees on Feb 27, and they promised a partial refund within 3-5 days.Also to refund remaining money left in my account. By Mar 30, still nothing. They told me it would show "today or tomorrow." It's now Apr 3, 2026, and I still have no refund. Overall, they ignored my cancellation, charged fees after the fact, and have not returned the money they promised. And don't post a comment in here for me to call you, after you have ignored my request for months. read more

Run from this company. They will prey on you at your most vulnerable time and pretend that they can help. They will mislead you into thinking you will end up saving money by choosing this option and that they will handle it all. Reality, the reps tell you the estimate is the max amount you will pay. Your credit is destroyed so they have the ability to negotiate. They take a large fee and you don't save anything in reality. Two of my three accounts went to law firms and they told me I had no choice but to accept the higher amount. The end result which I'm fighting now and probably going no where is $7000 over the amount I thought I agreed too. The amount their agents assured would me would be the max. Do your research. Got a letter in the mail decided to call and see what it was about. They wanted all of this info with out giving me their info other than they help with credit debt. Transferred me to a man and right away asked for my D.O.B then wanted my social security number. I told him I could not give that to him and didn't feel comfortable just giving that info just yet. Right away he began to be rude and said why not? Then said well then there is nothing they could do for me because they needed my social to see if I qualified and was mad and told him I still was not giving it and he hung up. We used Credit Associates. We were deeply in debt and they were our last hope. Everything was going fine and they were saving us "some" monies though thier fees brought our saving down to almost nothing. But when they hit a hicup with one of our creditors CreditAssociates failed us. Something (no one can tell us what happen) happen in the middle of payments on one settlement that caused the payments to our creditor to stop. No one from Credit Associates call to let us know there was a problem. We found the problem 4 months after the payments stop while we were checking out about another issue. When we called, CreditAssociates gave us the run around trying to find out what happen and what was to happen now. Every call we make we're told they will look into it and call us back. NEVER HAVE THEY EVER CALLED US BACK. After another 2 months without an answer, we closed our account with CreditAssociates. Now the creditor is sueing us for the original debit amount. Credit Associates is giving us the run around again tring to get any information on our account. They got their fee for the settlement for basicly doing nothing for us. read more

I was having difficulty keeping up with credit card payments, and looking at years of stubbornly increasing balances. Over the years I had accrued indebtedness to four diffident credit card companies totaling about $30,000. I decided to look into debt consolidation companies. After doing a little research I decided on CreditAssociates. In January 2023 we came to an agreement whereby I pay CreditAssociates $391.38 per month for 42 months, which is a total of $16,437.96. In return they would negotiate with the banks and pay off my debts. At the time I was given several assurances: that CreditAssociates (C/A hereafter) had good relationships with all four of the banks involved; that during this process the banks were very unlikely to take legal action against me; that I could stop paying the monthly fees immediately. Two months later I started getting late notices from the banks - warnings about default and a lower credit rating. I asked C/A if they worked with the banks to avoid damaging credit reports.to companies like Equifax. Answer: NO. It's a given that my credit rating will end up in the toilet. "Why should you care about your credit rating anyway", the rep asked. "You're not going to need it." Ok, I made an over-optimistic assumption. My bad. Then some good news: C/A had arranged for a lowered payment with two of the four banks (the two with the smallest balance due). I received a rude shock in December 2023. The third bank was suing me for non-payment. I sent the legal papers to C/A as instructed if this happened. They contacted the bank and got a proposal: they would accept $2916 over the next year in addition to the payments I was already making. Together with the C/A fee, that made it close to the original debt. And I couldn't afford it. I asked C/A why I was being sued. Had they contacted this bank to negotiate a deal? Answer: NO! I was told that they only contact the bank when they have enough money from my monthly payments to make an offer. At this point I was still paying off the first two banks. Well what the hell? How were they supposed to prevent a lawsuit if they never contacted the bank? Of course the bank's going to sue. I thought that's what they were supposed to prevent. Not so. A month later the fourth bank sued. Same story - they hadn't been contacted by C/A. Again I sent C/A the legal papers. This time they wanted another $6552 over the next year, in addition to payments already agreed.. I told C/A I would deal with the lawsuits myself. I couldn't do any worse than they did. I asked them to finish payments to the first two banks. I had already paid them $6653 in monthly payments at this point, and the total payoff for the first two banks was $5971, leaving them with a $682 profit - quite enough I thought, considering their results. The rep said he would get back to me. They responded a few days later. No, they would not pay off the first two banks with the money already payed. It would take another $900 of my payments. While in court I had reached an agreement with the third bank to pay off my indebtedness to them within three months. Either the bank or their representative law firm decided I had only five days from the court date to pay. I found this out several weeks later, when I called the law firm to pay off the agreed sum. The law firm had notified Credit Associates, but neither of them notified me. At this point they wanted another $1700 over the agreed amount. I told them I'd see them in court. At this point I am not looking forward to a "debt-free future", but rather going to court twice with virtually no defense. As of now I have paid CreditAssociates $682 more than the payoff amount for the first two banks. Even so, they insist that I continue payments for another $900. As you can imagine, I would not recommend doing business with CreditAssociates. read more

CreditAssociates LLC., is now a scam. When I enrolled a year ago representatives were professional and responsive. Now they are rude, incompetent and ignore your calls. They place your number on an hours long "on-hold" recording which hangs up on you at the end of the call. They settled one of my debts within a few months but have not contacted other creditors even after about a year. They will leave you high and dry at court. I would recommend to those that have been scammed by this company they you leave a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as this is the only good report that is keeping them afloat. read more

So, I finished my program with Credit Associates during the beginnings of the Covid TimeLine with the hopes to finish off a debt that was overwhelming for me and my family. We had been trying hard to get the debts under control and be able to get a home as soon as possible, but we were always told our DEBT was way too high to get approved for anything at all by the mortgage companies. We were referred to this place by our loan officer and they told me straight up when I called, that the process is long because I chose 36 months to be done and slow for the creditors to finalize a settlement with their negotiation department sometimes up to 12-18 months, and they also mentioned it's going to feel weird having the creditors call and be looking for their payments all the time, but it has to be done in this way or they would never approve anything through settlement unless you actually required help. And my monthly payments were just crazy high at 25% interest on my cards so I just couldn't afford them and a new house. So, something just had to give, so I accepted what they said, and they told me pretty much point blank that my credit would go down ALOT before it would go up to be ready to by my house in the future. But they stated that if you finish the program, you will pay off the $43k that I owed, and you will position yourself to be ready to buy a house when it was done. So, it's kind of a big LEAP .... but I trusted my mortgage officer, I knew I didn't want bankruptcy, and even though I saw a handful of reviews from places like google and BBB that people did succeed so I figured what do I have to lose.... I can't stay stuck in debt either and I couldn't afford 1300 a month like I was paying anymore. So, I put in my Wells Fargo, Chase Freedom, and my Discover, and just took the plunge, after about 10 months into the program, the first card got settled for a value that was about 51% off what I owed at the payments I was afforded and started chopping that one down when the money in my settlement account they gave me, about 6 months after that the Wells Fargo legal department did their settlement, which chunked that card down as well and then finally, I got the last card going into to full payoff mode around the 17th month,..... I was able because I got a new job to pay the debt down even earlier because they said there were no penalties, and they even said I should start looking for opportunities to get some credit cards slowly as the debts got finished off, I finished off my debt, finally, right around 2021, right before the bottom fell off completely in the house market, and I got my first house ever for me and my family. Was it an amazing time, NO, was it fun to be in debt in the first place HECK no, did I take a leap to ask for settlement sure, but I knew I didn't want to do Bankruptcy, my parents never raised me to want that. So can I vouch for anyone else here I can't .... but reading these reviews, doesn't look like anybody here who got a survey even finished their program, so.... how can they say how it went if none of them finished? This company claims to help its clients, when the opposite is true. They collect 25% of the client's total balances, and make sure they get their "success fee" first. I saw accounts that had not been touched by negotiators in 1-2 years. The only time management presses for more settlements is when their monthly numbers are down. The entire negotiator staff was recently switched from salary to straight commissions. Staff is leaving and not being replaced. Do your self a favor and don't fall for their schtick. read more

Why no Yelp reviews besides mine? This company is a complete fraud, nothing but crooks and liars. Most of all of the four and five star reviews are people like me that were promised everything would be fine in the beginning. However I am almost one year into the program and have to tell you they have done nothing to fulfill any other promises. When I enrolled, I was told that they guarantee they can settle all of the debts for around 50% of the balance owed at the time. I enrolled 5 accounts totaling over 125k. Seeing that in the beginning they promised wonderful things I also enrolled my wife and 3 of her AMEX cards a few months later. When Amex begin calling us and we told him then we enrolled in debt consolidation they said they do not deal with any of these companies. When I brought it to a credit associates, they told me, as they have many numerous times, they deal with every financial institution and consolidate more than $100 million of debt per day. We received a letter in February that the Amex accounts have been closed and turned over to a legal firm for collections. When I called to tell credit associates this they said that is great news that they can then start to settle the account. When I called back in June to ask why nothing has been done they said that they never received the letter that I had emailed in February, however I have course had proof that it was sent directly to my account rep and was conveniently not put into the system. I have received a call only seven months after sending them the attorney letter and they tell me that they are going to settle for aprox 60% of what is owed. When you add in their fees that means we are paying back a total of over $8000 on an initial $9100 balance. This is over 80% of what we originally owed not 40 or 50% as a they guaranteed. Meanwhile needless to say as we have been waiting for now over 10 months for them to take action for resolving these debts both of our credit has gone down several hundred points to pour status and we cannot get any loans or credit cards to help us survive in this pandemic in time of need. I had enrolled five cards totaling $125,000 in debt with these jokers. Only after more than eight months did they finally reached out to try to settle one of the accounts, and that was only because it was an American Express that had been sent to a collections agency and I had no choice but to take whatever offer was on the table otherwise they would file a lawsuit. One of the accounts that is enrolled was a line of credit, which after four months of delinquency the bank went to an adjacent checking account and withdrew over $4000 to pay for back payments and penalties and fees. When I brought this to the attention of credit associates, they acted surprised, however they have told me numerous time they have worked with every financial institution and know every rules of debt. They told me to avoid this in the future to just close the account. I told them I have 4 business accounts with BofA and it takes a great deal of work with my clients to change any banking info and this was not an option! I once spoke to a supervisor regarding a potential settlement and I was upset with the amount and the fees they were proposing, and I declined to except it. He told me that he would speak with his team and call me right back regarding a new proposal. He did not call me back but I did receive an email & text l notification shortly after that the account was automatically settled. When I called a question why and how this can happen, they told me if there is a offer at a certain amount they have to automatically except it. How convenient that they lowered their fees just enough to get over this exception. But no one ever called me or followed up, they simply manipulated the system to auto accept the offer. They have not done anything much in over 10 months because it is in their best interest for those accounts to rack up interest and fees because their fee is based on the overall amount. They have settled one account for me, and I now end up obligated to pay back over 80% of the original enrolled debt. I have called countless times during the duration of the program to find out why there has been no activity and they constantly make excuses between they need more time and they need more money in the account. When I brought it to their attention if it were a possibility if I were able to increase my funding or add a lump sum to any more of the accounts if they close it quicker and they said absolutely yes. When I said why did you never tell me this they said but they have so many clients they cannot reach out to any one individual to let them know what is needed to move forward faster. I can not add the rest of my review withing the limits but know this! Most of the reviews you see are posted by Credit associates from a recorded call of people only 1-2 months in the program. If I could give zero stars, I would. Basically here to echo everything that Jay, the first commenter, said. They contacted me when I was in the midst of a panic after taking a huge dive on my canceled wedding plans during the pandemic. Signing on with this company was the biggest financial mistake of my life thus far. They encourage you to stop making payments on your accounts and assure you throughout the process that the letters and correspondence you receive from the banking companies is good news, as it's indicative that they're getting closer to settling. This is a blatant lie. They trashed my credit, only managed to settle one of my accounts in over a year's time, and when I was served with court documents from one of my financial institutions they refused to take any accountability or help me in any way. I was left holding the entire bag. Their promises to handle all correspondence and negotiations with your account are a selling point and nothing more. That being said, your chances of getting sued are high. When I was (rightfully) outraged about this, I demanded to know why I wasn't informed. The person 'assisting' me very condescendingly replied, "Well obviously we don't want to advertise that." Anything Credit Associates claims they provide as a service is something you can easily do yourself for free. Just be aware that Credit Associates is selling a service. they are not interested in your financial well being so much as they are looking to make money, at your expense if necessary.
